I just changed the engine and it turns out that the old engine does not have the VVT sensor and the new one does. So I don't have the car and it doesn't have the connector. How can it be connected?

😢 Mine is burning oil but I am still using 5w30. Is it bad to run like that as there no other issues? Also does oil burning affect fuel average? Btw congratulations on OEM+ Rebuild

This is my opinion: burning oil has pros on cons. It does give upper cylinder lubricant if in small amounts but probably more of a bad thing as it causes more build up in the cylinder and on the valves. My old engine was burning half a qt every 500 miles it was a joke. The oil consumption I didn't think hurt fuel economy, it was the bad piston rings making you lose compression. I did a compression test and all 4 were under 100 psi. I think they were supposed to be 150 or higher. (Going off memory)

You’re going to plug up the catalytic converter with all the oil burning. I strongly recommend rebuilding the top end of the engine now while it’s still working before something catastrophic happens.

That is awesome!!! I bought an echo back in 2004 and I still have it with over 300,000 miles. Its been sitting for over a year, but i will be doing quite a bit of work on it very very soon. I love that little car. Maybe I'll give you an update on how it turns out. I'm not as mecanically inclined as you but, i have the mechanics manual and i know how to read, so i should be successful.

Thanks for sharing your genius idea with me. I am about to have to change my fuel pump and I have been thinking about finding a junk Suburban that I could cut the floor out of to use as the access point cover after cutting the hole in my floor. This however would be much easier for me to acquire the things that I need to do the job with. I was thinking about just dropping the tank and then I remembered that I have a full tank of fuel also and no help with that process so that’s out of the question.

It's my wife's high school car. We are both 39 now. She got it when it had 6,000 miles on it. In 2023 the engine had 352k miles and was burning 1/2 qt every 500 miles. It mostly lived on supertech 5w30 its whole life. I did a engine overhaul series with a separate junk yard motor Im currently installing and should break her in this year 2024. My plan is to give it a second life of 300k+ miles. If the engine rebuild proves worthy, Ill repaint the car in 2025.

I got confused on the lock unlock position on the exhaust camshaft. He keep mentioning the unlock written on the gear as locked
@MakeItMike
@MakeItMike 2 ай бұрын
I just labeled it to clear the confusion. All you need to do is torque it while it's "unlocked" or you can break the internal lock pin. Once torqued. You can twist it until it's clicks into locked position.
