Washington has a good O Line- the Kid was lucky to go there- Next year will be tougher as Teams will have film on him- Cant play against him without putting a spy on him

I like Daniels- but the kid has to hit the Gym if he wants to run and bulk up on Protein Shakes - Otherwise hes gonna take a hit while running from abig stud Middle Linebacker and Separate his Shoulder

There's another way to look at the QB thing though. Allen, Jackson et al, cannot beat Mahomes in the playoffs. The AFC is boring.... unless and until the Chiefs lose. The NFC is far more interesting. Daniels.... yeah when I watch him he looks like the next dynasty QB, but history is not kind to running QBs in Super Bowls. Pocket passers tend to win them all. (Mahomes maybe being a 'hybrid') Regarding replay... they already have auto review for scoring plays (and turnovers). They should do auto review for any penalty that extends a drive that would've otherwise stalled. Like a 3rd and 10 incomplete that gets extended by a flag... or especially a 4th down failed conversion extended by a flag. Yes, that still allows for bad penalties on 1st and 2nd downs, but it's those stupid drive-revivers that ruin the experience and make people feel like something is rigged.

Daniels is a rookie and has played great in his first 2 playoff games while Darnold is a 5 year veteran and he pissed down his legs in the same situation. I believe that physical talent or Arm talent is great but doesn't matter if you don't have a QB that steps up in the big moments. I watched Cousins shrink in big moments not interested in watching Darnold do the same any longer

KOC is a ONE TRICK PONY!!!!!!!!!! He will never win a championship if he doesn't find a counterpunch to the long developing passing game downfield. Three years and NO running game. Three years and NO screen game. Three years and no short yardage or goal line run game AT ALL. Three years and NO short quick passing game. He's great at what he's great at but also terrible at everything else!

Matt, interested in your view on analytics saying downfield passing being more successful but that balanced attack with shorter passing and solid running game is winning in playoffs

Matthew is the typical pundit who is a slave to recency bias. Daniels is a nice quarterback. But that team had five losses this year. And looked pretty average to poor most of the year. I think it’s a little too early for Matthew to put him in the Hall of Fame.

Kinda humorous how every single week we said "these defensive injuries have gotta hurt them at some point" and just when we all said "okay i guess it just doesnt matter and theyre gonna win anyway" it mattered. They could have put a random fan on the field and im not sure the Lions would have been able to tackle them.

Obviously, the NFC North was a fraud. Completely overrated. Now you know just how bad the Vikings really were. Another fraudulent team another fraudulent season. So hard to root for a team that always embarrasses you.

Sam Darnold's last two games may have cost him money but not to the extent where he won't be able to get Starter money (and a guarantee to be the STARTING QB) elsewhere. Sam is walking. Let's face that fact and focus on McCarthy going forward.

Mathew, your take on review is spot on but I also appreciate what you brought up how the pattern of this playoff ball when then D line is mashing the O line and the QB is getting killed. Your take that they all are different when they are always under stress , even the so called good ones. Good takes today

The Vikings did not get the #1 seed in 2017, the Eagles did. The last time the Vikings came from the '98 season. In 2009, Saints had the #1.

Thoughts: Sign Drew Dalman (C) + Trey Smith (RG). Sign Jordan Mason (Rb) / Draft Jaydon Blue (RB) from UTexas in our later picks Sign Milton Williams (DT) / Draft (1st round) Walter Nolan (DT) Ole Miss. I think those changes in the Trenches / Run Game can change the attitude of this team and takes the stress off McCarthy

This hurts. When you grow up in Detroit and its suburbs, you live for that hope of good sports teams because the town is dead in everything else. You can't leave because our families have been here for 100 years, and we are too rooted to get out.

@ I don't understand people that turn into obnoxious assholes as soon as the bad team they root for has success. I'm an Orioles fan...team has been one of the worst in MLB for a long time. They won the division two years ago and the LAST thing on my mind was "oh man...I gotta go fuck with the fans of other teams in the division"...I was happy just to talk to fellow O's fans that finally had reason for optimism. Especially my pops and my brother...it was dope to see the energy in Camden Yards and be able to actually enjoy the season...how would being obnoxious have improved anything?

I’ve been listening to you, off and on, all season and usually, Purple Daily, because I like them also. Today, you’ve proved to me an automatic SUB. Your content is full of valuable information and is appreciated. Great podcast 🤓 you go, Mat. 👍 I’m just an arm chair old timer, from the Iron Range ( now, Northern Michigan ) and would just like to see “my team “ win a Super Bowl once before I die. P.S. - Fran Tarkington was the bomb. SKOL
