Your family defines what making lemons out of lemonade really means! Choosing to turns a rainy passage into an opportunity to clean the decks was genius! I'm relieved that your unexpected visitors were just curious. It must be worrying though, being so isolated out there on your own. You're definitely a brave and adventurous lot! Stay safe and happy sailing! ❤🙏👍

Ahoy, the mariners! (I'm not one, btw, so this question comes from the perspective of the uninitiated!) I'm assuming, perhaps erroneously, that you have identical engines and props per hull and I'm wondering whether you have to compensate for diagonal drag when running on only one engine. If so, does this not affect fuel efficiency and create stresses in the vessel's superstructure?
@sailingwithsix3 сағат бұрын
Hey, great question. No we haven't had diagonal drag from running one engine. However, we have experienced this type of 'crab walking' with ocean currents and we will run the opposite engine to try and mitigate the sideways movement.

Man, that sky at 9:33 is SPECTACULAR !!!! Always been curious why you guys don't use regular fishing poles instead of the line on the circular keeper? Is it a "Saving Space" type of thing? How often do you guys enter a new country and Kris just gets stares from the locals because of him being 6'7" tall? LOL Another great video from one of my Favorite families out on the Deep Blue! 😁
@sailingwithsix3 сағат бұрын
We use these fishing reels because we haven't invested in any big fishing gear and initially this is all we had to work with - now we just like the ease of the setup so we've stuck with it. Gotta love the sunset and giggle at the stares from the locals - looks like he has 5 little kids following him everywhere too 😂

Ball lightning is a rare, mysterious phenomenon that appears as a luminous sphere of light that can range in size from a pea to several meters in diameter. It's often seen during or after thunderstorms, and is usually associated with cloud-to-ground lightning. Here are some characteristics of ball lightning: Color: Ball lightning can be red, orange, yellow, white, or blue. Duration: Ball lightning usually lasts only a few seconds, but can persist for several seconds. Movement: Ball lightning can move unpredictably, levitate above the ground, or move regardless of wind. Sounds: Ball lightning is often accompanied by a hissing sound. Smell: Ball lightning has a distinct sulfurous smell upon its disappearance. Damage: Ball lightning has been reported to cause damage by burning or melting, but is usually harmless.

Well, this turned out to be a lovely passage. Beautiful skies 9:24, 10:57, 15:46. On the handline, it's a better catch the second time around- nice! Love that bird who welcomed you to Papua New Guinea. This place has a good market, handsome trees, accommodating people. No worries... Ted will get that fan working I'm sure.

Some stunning shots at Sunset when the noble gases ignite to give us a spectacular display. I did note the globe at the table...as a sailor, do you believe in the Globe?
@sailingwithsix2 сағат бұрын
Yes we do believe in the globe - we are able to sail around the worlds oceans because they all connect and we haven't found the edge yet so it must be a sphere. No?!
