I started with following SLV and have seen others traversing the world by sea, but I have to say you have got me hooked. You present life in a similar way to Leana and Riley and I find it entertaining and educational. What is so good to see is the children all help out on the cat and even love baking. Family life doesn't get much better than this. Good teamwork and a common desire to help each other and learn is wonderful. My KZbin channel HarrysHappenings is minuscule compared to your content, and as I do not make travel blogs every month (I am based in Norwich UK) I cannot attract large numbers of followers. I wish you happiness and success with your vlogs. Love them

My eldest son also celebrated a birthday during our crossing of the Pacific. It was his 10th - and gramps gave him a copy of Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner. By the time we berthed in Macao, he could recite almost all of it. The rest of us wished gramps had thought of a different gift!!🙄. Kids, you'll remember these special, mariner birthdays all of your life. You're true members of Neptune's family now. 🎉

Wow! We’ll have to look that one up and challenge each other to memorise it! Birthdays at sea are always odd but definitely memorable.

The convergence zone is interesting and created a few dilemmas. Good to see you fixed the diesel leak mid ocean . Finn’s cooking demonstration was awesome . The halfway gift was a great surprise. What a cheeky helicopter. Thanks team for the video.🥰⛵️

Another nice video. Thanks! I actually met you all March of 2023 anchored off Panama City. I was crew on a delivery of a Leopard 50 to the Moorings in Raiatea. As I recall Kris was working with our skipper on some Open CPN charts. I have enjoyed your videos ever since. Interestingly, we encountered a similar helicopter from a fishing ship on our crossing. Very cool. Cheers!

Oh wow! Yes we remember getting a bunch of openCPN from the skipper of the Leopard 50. So awesome you’ve been following us since then! I think that chopper buzzed quite a few boats. They must get bored.

Still my fav channel on YT! Such a great family. Bella is killing it as she gets older as 1st Mate. I hope she can get enough hours in and training necessary to be able to get her Captain's license when she's 18. Best part is, I can tell Mum and Dad would keep her on the boat as long as she wants even after 18. The kiddos are growing up too fast lol.

Getting buzzed by the helicopter was unexpectedly cool. Coming at you at 87 knots 🤯. Wouldn't the app, Windy, show wind squalls when radar doesn't? Congrats on crossing the equator and then your halfway point. I'm looking forward to your next episode. Happy Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸
@sailingwithsix6 ай бұрын
Thank you. Crazy huh?! Unfortunately windy or predict wind are forecasts and can’t show precise location gusts but rather give a broader view. So there can still be the unpredictable.
@nooneanybodyknows79126 ай бұрын
@sailingwithsix That's interesting. I use Windy on land in the US to aid when I need to blow leaves, burn debris, spread seed, fertilizer, etc... Even on the free app, you can visually see the winds' speed, direction, and velocity. Many sailing channels I watch use one form or another or multiple forms of wind apps for a live worldwide wind map when sailing. 🤷♂️

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINN 👍👍⛵⛵🎁🎁🎉🎉Hope you had an awesome day buddy. Hopefully the crossing of the ITCZ wasn't too bad. Clearly the fruit levels have dropped considerably lol - the nets are almost empty which also means those growing bellies are getting well fed lol.🍍🍍🍉🍉🍈🍈🍐🍐🥝🥝 and glad to hear the leak is pretty much sorted. Those clouds continue to look ominous though 🥺🥺 joys of sailing I guess 😋😋and the goody bag with new toothbrushes hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣. I wanted to also add when I first joined Finn was a lot more reserved than he seems now which is fantastic to see. The meds are working 👍👍❤❤ keep smiling everyone and all the best

To reach your amazing destination, a challenge zone must be passed! Namely, this ITCZ band. Paradise does not admit the unworthy. Eyes remain fixed on the horizon, and upon the radar. A leak in the fuel tank, a break in the sail reef- checked! Culinary skills at a premium as fresh fare begins to dwindle. Strange intruder descends from the sky... but he's a friendly! No stores to visit, yet still you have gifts to open. Halfway now, sailing well. ⛵

No it was a stainless steel shackle on a big rope that was leaned up against the outside of the tank and the two metals were reacting to each other unbeknownst to us. 😌

As for your "unhappy" fruits and plastic bags, if your fridge is no-frost, it sucks moisture out of everything. And plastic bags simply prevent it. Easy.

Almost forgot to share some fun knowledge with you about ITCZ. First, brits call it "the doldrums"... what do they know. But the most fun happens at the altitude of roughly 10,000 meters. The temperature there is somewhere around -50-50C and low pressure sucks up moisture from the ocean. Moisture cools faster than it freezes which creates what is called supercooled (or superchilled) water. It's water that's below freezig temp but cannot freeze because everything around it is the same temperature and ice crystals cannot form. The fun thing about it is that it freezes as soon as it is disturbed. The BAD part is that the object that disturbs this substance most often is... an airplane wing. Instant freezing. There are quite a few videos on youtube showing the effect. 🙂
