@@kocaburra if you recall exactly how I started the video, I began with talking about how the precursor to AcuStitch is the part of Horizon Link Suite where we can do some similar converting of stx decorative stitches to how the AcuStitch also uses stx stitches to create designs. AcuStitch is a separate program which is a more advanced option. And it’s had a few more updates and improvements since I made this video. I actually switch to the AcuStitch program at about 14:10!

Yes, I do think that the program works exactly the same regardless of which machine is being used. However, I don't have the program for a 500e series of machines, so I can't verify that entirely. The only difference will be the hoop size because the Acufil hoop (ASQ...) hoops for the different Janome machines are different sizes, but in that case your program for your particular machine will reflect that. Thank you for watching my video, if you have further questions please ask!

The HLS came on a CD with the machine purchase. If your machine is the version 3 Quiltmaker with the pink bar under the screen the HLS with the machine was the most recent one. But if your machine is an older machine model with either turquoise or silver under the screen those machines had to be upgraded by a dealer. The dealer was responsible for telling Janome who then emailed a link to upgrade HLS. The update was never a publicly shared update and the HLS program was never available on a public site. If you’re on Facebook you can send me a message and I will attempt to send you the program if you don’t have a CD.

I've found that with many designs, especially where triple stitches and satin stitches are involved, there is little chance of unravelling. So I often insert (seed?) very long stitches to connect parts of a design which I can then trim out manually at the end. That usually ends up far quicker than having the machine keep stopping and starting, tying in and tying off plus, even with my very high end 10 needle machine, it often struggles to tie in adequately and stops after a few stitches needing me to intervene, fiddling with the bobbin, etc. It certainly doesn't negate the need for 'logical' designs but does mean you can add, for instance, facial features in blank spaces without the need for tedious starts and stops or stitches where you ultimately don't want them. Just a suggestion, probably frowned upon by professionals but it works for me. Did machines in the past simply jump leaving long tails? Frankly I'd quite like that but I haven't managed to fathom how to get my machine to do it. It insists on starting and stopping, tying in and tying out, adding soooo long to the stitch out and constantly needing my intervention when it fails to tie in adequately.
@faviolamartinezsewdigitizing
@faviolamartinezsewdigitizing Жыл бұрын
thank you for your comments. I have been communicating extensively with "Kathy" off of this post and have been suggesting to her the exact same that you are! I have been trying to convince her to eliminate jumps and ties as much as possible by proper pathing and even using the Redwork tool in Hatch to help achieve that goal, in addition to even connecting facial features whenever possible. The design isn't that large and tiny connections won't make much of a difference in the overall appearance, but she's also concerned that the kids still look like the original artwork. Yes, I do know that the early domestic machines didn't have thread trimmers and we were left to trim our own jumps. Sometimes I still prefer to depending on what I'm embroidering. I don't know about multi-needle machines, maybe they always had trimmers?

Yes, and I thought that I mentioned it in the first video about Stitch Composer, sorry that I must not have. The early versions of Stitch Composer have the bowed grid. Hello! thanks for the excellent tutorial, I am trying to see if I can use the Durkee Sturdi-Frame rotating multi position hoop. It's a 2 position rotating hoop. However, I am still using Hatch version 2. When I try to create the new hoop, it only offers me a 3 Position Hoop in the drop down. Does this mean I have to upgrade to Hatch 3? I'm very happy with Hatch 2, and there seem to be some issues with 3, and my computer is a few years old. So I'd rather keep version 2 if possible. The hoop is $200 but I don't want to order it if it won't work with Hatch. So confused...Thank you for your excellent content!
@faviolamartinezsewdigitizing
@faviolamartinezsewdigitizing Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response & questions. It's unfortunate that Hatch 2 only offers a choice of a 3 position hoop. I had never noticed that before. In v3 it offers among other shapes; 2 Position, 2 Position Rotating, 3 Position. But in my old MBX v5 which is very similar to Hatch 2 it also only has an option for a 3 Position and a Sliding Hoop. If you are planning to use a rotating hoop frequently it may be worth your time to invest in the Hatch 3 upgrade! So, I have a few questions for you! First, is regarding the software & your computer. I don't know why you think Hatch 3 has many problems but in my experience it doesn't, and it has many improvements. Your computer needs to have at least 16gb of ram to run the program well, but I suspect it could possibly even run with less if you shut down all other programs while using Hatch 3. 2) Are you pretty familiar with using Hatch? If so, you can probably trick your machine so that you can use the Durkee hoop. To do that first I would ask you to select a Janome brand machine (9700, 350e etc) and find the Gigahoop which is a rotating hoop. (Or other brand that has a Rotating hoop in the menu, there are several, in fact one might even be the right size as your Durkee hoop). Play with inserting designs into the embroidery field and then export them so that you can see how the program deals with a rotating hoop Then based on your Durkee hoop, you would figure out what the overlap area is, based on the hoop requirements. Create a hoop that is that size. Not the full size. When you create your design/layout, position the designs so that they are completely contained in each side of that area. Remember everything you want in #1 must be first in the sequence, and everything in #2 comes after. For rotation # 2 you would export the design upside down. I hope that this makes sense! Because it's opposite of how a brain thinks!
@pittysmom
@pittysmom Жыл бұрын
@@faviolamartinezsewdigitizing Thank you SO much for your quick reply! I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this. I kept searching and finally realized that the rotating hoop option IS in fact a new offering in the version 3. I have a Babylock Alliance, and the embroidery field is 8x8. That is the only drawback I have found with this machine. I absolutely love it, and it doesn't bother me to change thread colors. But the small field is very limiting. So when I saw the Durkee hoop, the 8x14 space seemed like a perfect solution. I'm going to take your suggestion and play around with Hatch 2, and see if I can get it to work. If it looks promising, I will order the hoop. If not, I may just have to upgrade to 3. Hopefully the version has been out long enough that most of the initial bugs have been fixed. My computer won't run Windows 11, so I'll have to check and see if that's an issue. Either way, $200 for hoop and $200 for upgrade seems like alot. That being said, I can spend that on 2 Mighty Hoops and still be limited to 8x8 haha! And it's still way cheaper than upgrading to the $12k Array.... See what I did there? It's amazing how proficient we are at justifying embroidery equipment prices! 😄😄😄 Thanks again and I look forward to more of your videos....

The 12000 and 15000 machines are combo Sewing and embroidery machines, the 9450 is sewing only. The 12000 machine is older than the 15000 and is no longer being manufactured. No, unfortunately this little program doesn't print a color stop design list. Janome used to sell a little program "Customizer" that did that, but when they began to really promote the digitizing programs (Digitizing Jr. Digitizer Pro, MBX, Artistic, etc) they also began to include these little programs as part of the embroidery machine purchase at no cost. In doing so they stripped some of the useful features in hopes that users would purchase digitizing software. (I've been told this by Janome tech support.)

Judy, I appreciate your question and hope to clarify a little more. You can't transfer the entire folder and its contents in one step. You have to have a folder created in the machine memory and then open to put files into. Maybe I wasn't entirely clear the point of this video is that in a situation like mine I had to have the A-board replaced on the machine. That meant that if I wanted to keep my stitch files for the future I had to remove them from the machine before the work was done. When I was getting ready for the work to be done on my machine a few weeks ago, I assumed that I would be able to just copy the folders onto a usb and that would be it. That's when I discovered that the only way to get the folders off the machine and into my PC was to use the Horizon Link process. Yes, there are various ways that we can save files that are on our machine into our PC; individually saving them onto a usb, or using the direct connect cable with Horizon Link or the WiFi being the most common ways. But we can't move the folders that we've created in the machine without using Horizon Link. (At least I haven't figured out a way to do so!) Back to your question, as I was trying to do this process I can only say the answer is no. You have to have a folder on both the computer and the machine sides created & open and then move/copy the files into it. During the transferring process, we can create folders through Horizon Link as well as directly on the machine. When we are copying the contents of the machine folders over to the PC we have to create the folders on the PC first, then move the individual files into those opened folders. Thanks for the question, and I would like for you to try out the process (Just for fun!) and see what results you get, if you find a way to copy the entire folder & it's contents in one step I'd like to learn how, I wasn't able to!
