I just wanted to give this a bump. I did this today on my 2023 Ryker Sport. Wire closet shelf cost me $10, used "Plasti Dip' spray to cover it in black, attached some nice leather saddlebags I found on sale at Cycle Gear for $99 bucks. I think this setup and install had I paid someone to do it would've cost me $500 bucks. I was able to do a professional looking job for just over $100 including saddlebags. Pretty happy and thanks so much for sharing your clever solution.

No, I dont have a link for the shelf rack that I made, it wasn't hard to make though. I no longer own the Ryker, after two years I traded it for a Jeep Wrangler. I still have the saddle bags though, but I tossed the bracket.

Its just a camera case from Walmart, purchased for around 12 bucks. I just cut two small slits on each side of the back side of the case, then used two Velcro straps through the slits and then around the handlebar. Easy to attach and detach.

Sorry, just saw your question. I had to fabricate a bracket out of 3/16 cold rolled steel, the original bracket wasnt heavy duty enough to handle the heavier bags loaded up.

Yeah, I didnt want to have to fiddle around with a locking gas cap every time I fuel up either. So I took a measurement and started looking around the house and the garage for something that would work. Found that a spray paint cap was a perfect fit, just a little to tall to close the filler lid. So I cut about a 1/2" off the cap and it works well. The best thing about it is that if you accidentally leave it at the pump, its easy make another one.

Hey Rick, how do you like that mini dash cam? Is it powered by USB or hot wired into your Ryker?
@rickv4714
@rickv4714 3 жыл бұрын
I like it a lot, I forget its there and it always records every ride. It automatically powers on and starts recording when I start the bike, and automatically powers off when the bike shuts off. Its two year old now and still going strong. I've had it on the Ryker for about 8 or 9 months now. Its powered by a USB plug. I purchased extra mounts, one for my truck and one for my other bike, so when I need it in another vehicle, it just pops off and unplugs. Its a little shaky from wind buffeting when I have it on the bikes windscreens, but it still works fine, and its nice and smooth in the truck. I can view all the recording on the Garmin app on my phone, download onto a computer or whatever. I got it on sale for $79.00 when they first came out, its definitely worth the price for piece of mind in case anything happens.

Others have stated that they just pop in. Because of the red safety clip on each wheel, using a utility knife I cut a small slit in the inside of each cap to allow them to slide in without that clip being in the way.

@rickv4714
@rickv4714 4 жыл бұрын
Thats ok, everything is not for everybody. It works perfectly for my intended uses, and its quickly convertible back to no luggage in about 30 seconds. You do have limited options out there that meet your criteria. Those limited options was one of the reasons that I came up with something that works for me. Slingmods makes a nice set of quick release lockable luggage for about $700 dollars, to me reasonably priced too. Its a nice set of luggage and well built, but its rather large in scale to the bike, and it consumes the entire rear end of the machine. Might as well own a Spyder with the built in lockable luggage if you need that much luggage space. Your other option is the Shad single lockable side case. Again a good looking well made single piece of luggage. I actually have a set of Shad side cases (3P System) on one of my other two wheel bikes and its a good looking well made set of luggage. But, they do not make a set for the Ryker, they only make the one side case for the right side of the Ryker. IMHO, it really looks odd with a single side case hanging off the machine, it looks like you lost something as you're going down the road. It also hangs very low on the bike & IMO ruins the sleek lines of the Ryker. Your third option would require creativity on your part. You could engineer something for yourself like I did, that way you can have it just the way you would want it to be.
