I recently found out about this bike. It's sound is awesome and unique. Somehow it sounds so much better then modern triples.

Mind if I ask what you did to the exhaust can? Sounds a bit better than my stock pipes on my 95. I was thinking of tossing the pea shooters (but keeping them) and putting on something else. There is an outfit from GA (I think) that does some very Ducati-sounding pipes for the Bonniville line, but I like the sound of yours. Cheers

After removing both exhaust cans, I drilled them both out from the clamp end with a 12" X 7/8" steel drill bit. After drilling, I reamed the 7/8" hole out about an 1" or so using a cone reamer. Could have used an 8" long bit, but I already had the 12". There is no carb re-jetting needed as long as you don't go any larger with the hole in each can. The larger diameter of the hole, the deeper the tone, but also the larger the hole, the louder they are. I didn't want them too loud and they turned out about where I wanted them.

Do you find yours to be cold blooded? Mine really doesnt like to start when its below 60.
@rickv47148 жыл бұрын
+Heretic Yes, its also cold blooded. Unfortunately its the nature of these 4th generation Hinckley Thunderbirds, Legends, Thunderbird Sport & Adventurer bikes. But these Triumphs T300 series motors are known as Triumphs most over engineered, strong as a tank, bullet proof engines. My T-bird has no problems starting, but takes a few minutes to warm up though, pretty typical for carbureted bikes. I also have a 2013 EFI Triumph Trophy that takes 2 to 3 minutes to warm up, not as long as the T-bird. I'm in Florida, so really no cold weather to deal with.

my triumph thunderbird is also cold blooded. what i do for a easy start. i turn fuel pull choke 1/2 way twist throttel 2 times turn on power and hit start. this worked in the winter for cold starting. started no prob. it also helps to run high octane fuel. never use starting fluid.
