Wow, that's a great stack of records. I had not heard of Joe Harriott and John Mayer before - sounds really interesting. Spacewalk looks great too - fantastic cover, as you mentioned. It's interesting: I think you said that you prefer original tunes for jazz albums. I think I prefer to hear new interpretations of standards. Maybe you prefer a 75/25 percentage weighted towards new music, while I would prefer standards. lol Doesn't matter of course. Thanks for showing the records George!

The first Indo Jazz Suite LP was recently reissued by a label called Audio Clarity which I believe is basically a Russian bootleg label. I picked up a copy. I'm no audiophile, but it sounds decent to my ears for the price I paid which I believe was under 20 bucks. I had never heard it before and decided to take the gamble. It's very enjoyable music. Nice mix of Indian music and Jazz without coming off hokey or gimmicky.

Hi George. Sweet Stan Tracey pick-up, I rarely see his records about the place. I used to see his son Clark live quite a bit back in the day on the Yorkshire jazz scene - just looked him up and it turns out he's written a book about his Dad (came out in 2017). Liking the British slant here, must check some of these out, really like what I've heard of Don Rendell. 👍

Pretty sure they’ve done a couple of runs of the Gearbox British jazz either that or a staggered release of one run. Hoping they find a few more as I’m missing one or two. Also I would recommend the British jazz compilation, my copy gets regular airtime.

Both boxes look great. Tons of wonderful music. I agree about the blank album side 4 - seems like Blue Note could have commissioned a couple songs for that side. Seems like they could have stuck some art on the cover of that 10" too. oh well... Sweet Honey Bee! One of my favorite jazz instrumentals - I've never understood why it hasn't become sort of a "jazz standard' that lots of people play. Looks like your video got cut off before you got to that part. Thanks for showing the records!

Evening George. I really like Ron Sexsmith but have never got round to buying his records. First heard about him via Elvis Costello in the pages of Mojo. Nice jazz pick-ups as always, I'll stream the Joe Harriott one. Saw Sam Rivers back in the day, he was already pretty old but he was cooking still. Btw, Timbales is pronounced Tim-bah-lay, and 'oud' is pronounced 'ood'. though not sure how either of those will come out in Scottish. 😆

The Sonny Rollins LP was released years before in 1967. The copy you swapped may have been a 1974 reissue. I have an original and also the recent copy you showed. I have to say I think the original sounds better to me!

I do have one Dorthy Ashby album, I do struggle with the jazz harp, I just find it more classical. That new Tone Poet, Booker Little is new tome. I have never heard of him. I need to research that album. Good to see you George. I still have not swung a golf club this year, courses are always filled. They do keep the, open during the winter

Beautiful pressing of Isaiah Collier's "Parallel Universe" on Night Dreamer. There is a Wayne Shorter album with the same title of the record label. Not familiar with the Tyner album. He had so many. I would say that you did well George. Fine assortment of genres and artists~ Rob/Boston

That Isaiah Collier album looks interesting....vocal jazz but he is not the singer. Booker Little record looks good - I have an album called The Book Cooks - Tommy Flanagan is the piano player on that one too. Seems like it would have been better if he had stuck with one label. Lovely stuff George. Never really listened to Courtney Pine though I remember him turning.up in Dr Who in 1989. Is Gary Crosby on that record? I saw him live back in the day and he was fab. Think he started out with Pine but might be wrong about that. Good news about the Davey releases on Cherry Red. I have a record by him bought in Oxfam.

All the fun of the fair. I saw Ian Carr giving a talk on Miles Davis at the Kendal Jazz Festival back in 2001, really interesting guy. I picked up his Miles biography from Oxfam a while back (huge book) but haven't got to it yet. Chris Spedding gets everywhere. There's an 80's Wayne Shorter album lurking down at my local traders at the moment, might even be 'Atlantis' - will have to check this weekend to see if it's still there. Been streaming a bit of Pat Metheny recently, never really listened to him before. I thought the background music was Caribbean drums. Good showings as ever George.

Cant even describe how mindblowing this album is, tune in 5 reprise is my favorite track from this. gingerbread boy in 1966, and you wont find a better version of straight no chaser or au leu cha. Ive listened to this entire album ( on apple music) from beginning to end on multiple occasions when i was delivering all day for amazon. best days of my life. miles in concert at the philharmonic 1973 i think is one of my favorite electric miles era albums.

Great stuff George. I've been getting my jazz head back on so have been listening to Miles again. The only two Doors albums I really like are the first one and LA Woman. Got a nice Rhino reissue from a few years ago.

I've had the same problem with the hole being too small for the spindle. That is absurd. Recently I have changed my thinking on that - I think the hole is big enough but sometimes the label on one side or the other is not perfectly centered and so a piece of the label is blocking the hole. Just a thought. It's probably a mix of the two issues. Should never happen. L.A. Woman looks awesome. Miles Ahead - my favorite of the orchestrated Miles records. Except for maybe the soundtrack for the French film (Elevator...). Rendell/Carr record looks great - same for Wayne Shorter and....well, the whole stack looks awesome. I'd like to hear Thembi - I'm a big Karma fan. Thanks for showing the records!

Hi Steve the miles lp is a normal prestige release from 57 I think just before his four lp relaxing steaming cooking and working. This is an ojc reissue from last month.
