Hi. Are you in UK? I’m also from Malim Nawar and went to the Methodist primary school. My father also worked at the Perak river hydro power station in the workshop. Do you remember Mr. Hook from UK who was in charge of the whole plant. I was born in 1954 and now live in UK. Would love to chat with you about our hometown sometime. Kind regards Kheng

Hello. Yes am in Brighton. You are a decade ahead of me. Mr. Saw Thian Bee was the Headmaster at MPS then. Never heard of Mr. Hook, but Mr. Hazzelgrave was "chief" at Perak Hydro at the time, I was about 10 but he left soon after. I made a video of Malim Nawar and there were a few comments from folks who used to live and worked in Perak Hyrdo, you might know some of them. It's amazing how so many have found the Malim Nawar episode which I was not planning to release, thinking who would want to watch a video of Malim Nawar. Feel free to email me. Take care.😀

Hi it's called Zefal Dooback 2 from Amazon, for about £11. This one I find fits Brompton and most of the clones out there really well, I have fitted it to a Pike and its fine, but you need to secure it using, in my case a tape of some sort, I used handle tape which is flexible enough, to keep the mirror steady, otherwise it moves around too mucn. www.amazon.co.uk/Zefal-Unisexs-Dooback-Mirror-Universal/dp/B076DD2F9P/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2VHM0JW851QC6&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.mYuAsipVwJRMMKuT7zv2dsIHzLU_Dynz0cR7Jp7zx8tb8yohHEXAAv4wUHo8JO3WBLSKmckxunF7lEiFBYBNT_ro9QzYWfui6YNk8YQe2WuYMYQ3kbR_ybCOT79pniyP8HMxIYORTR2MImRgpnY3ttZzTKWNmopDzAWUOcu6lxywajQcPM1_gJp8Uk8SU7tv907M2cFPl4Lce4Ck6zesEw.hDcg8FTBYZhgVUiLd-xTwlnjZXlla2gCkaA6u_Nh3Dg&dib_tag=se&keywords=zefal+bicycle+rear+view+mirror&qid=1725372996&sprefix=bicycle+zefal+mirror%2Caps%2C197&sr=8-6

Is merry go round @ Ponggol & Pasir Ris, you plan to go anticlockwise but became clockwise. I have been riding every Sunday, always @ Ponggol, most of my kaki are at your age, they ride 20-30km only from Lorong Halus to Changi Village or Lorong Halus to Sembawang Hot Spring . i usually continue the journey with my wife. I have completed 3 times 120KM & on average I ride 40 to 70km per trip. I have not watch your full video yet , perhaps I may find some interesting locations I missed.

I know, we were busy chatting not realising my satnav with a planned route, got confused about which direction I am going and the sat nav kicked in and tried to re-route us using "quickest route", hence the confusion "merry go round" around Punggol. Dang, I miss the Sembawang Hot Springs, but I did enjoyed the event nonetheless, "I did it my way" :) I typically don't plan too much, just leave things as is, there are pros and cons. It was interesting to find that there is a railway corridor from north to south of Singapore, that would be a great one day adventure (maybe next time). Thanks for watching 🙂

@ODOB
@ODOB 2 ай бұрын
If you mean the hotel room? Yes, I pushed the bike right in front of the concierge, they didn't seem to mind. I didn't get any weird look or anything. I have done this on all my trips, in UK, in Malaysia and in Singapore (at least not yet). I can't imagine why not, if need be, I guess I could always fold it up and stick the bike into a Dimpla bag from Ikea. Besides it was never an option to leave the bike unguarded. There was one incident in KL, where they don't allow bikes to be pushed on their marbled floor, so they gave me a trolley instead which is fine, I could have folded the bike and rely on the rack trolley too.

Nice one. Traffic looked hairy, especially if you are an otter. Did you just go to Singapore for two days, or are there other cycling adventures from SE Asia coming - maybe not if you didn't take your Brompton (having borrowed Cousin Ys). I've thought about going out there and picking up a Royale (I love the dragon paint jobs) and then setting off on it, but don't know anything about the quality.
@ODOB
@ODOB 2 ай бұрын
We were there for a month actually, with the fam. I set aside 3 days for the Round Island but only needed 2. The rest of trip was spent with fs&fs. Royale, Mobot, Pike, 3Sixty are all good clones (it seems the orginal Brompton steel IP design had expired, hence the clone jobs). I have ridden both Pike and 3Sixty, pretty much the same, quality wise is not quite Brompton (obviously) but very close, with quality parts too. It seemed a very popular alternative in SEA. Overall, very good value considering these clones are less than half the price of the originals. Would love to hear of your experience. Have fun!

Frankly, I was going to give up on retrieving the camera as we were already half a mile away, but my cousin insist that we should try, given all the hard work and all the video clips stored on the camera :) You are right crime rate is very low in Spore, thank goodness for that. Just imagine had it been anywhere else, the chances are pretty slim. Thanks for watching.

Wonder if you were aware that there is a nice car free path along the sea shore linking the Winchelsea Beach Cafe with Rye Harbour and then there's a bike path (wide pavement) that follows the road from Rye Harbour to Rye - a bit longer but much more pleasant than riding on the roads with the motor traffic and better scenery.

You are so kind. Nothing warms me more than to see my little videos of small towns and places get some attention. Many people often visits the big cities and they need no further intros, but these little gems offer something I never used to appreciate, the kindness of local people no matter who you are, curiosity of local people when they see strangers in town, but more importantly, for me at least it is the local food which did it for me.

@@wayneriley7557 Isn't it amazing, how different people have come up with different ideas for rear bag/s, this is one I haven't seen before. On my travels, I have found that it becomes challenging once you have more than 2 bags, say when you are boarding the bus, or the train, I will sling the rear ruck sack (my preferred choice) over my shoulders, right hand carrying or pushing the bike, whilst left hand carrying the C bag. So far that worked for me...but always good see other systems. Cheers.

I have not stuck to it, although it is very solid, but I have returned to using the wooden dowel technique as it is much much lighter. In my case, it is a sawn off aluminium tube 22.5 diameter x about a foot long, thread it through a piece of old cycle tubing (for cushioning and to avoid metal on metal rub), and then thread it under the Brooks B17 saddle and simply used reusable zip ties to strap the aluminium dowle in place, works a treat. The hollow aluminium tube is useful for storing spare zip ties too. I have used this method for more than a year now, and it is pretty solid. I wanted to use easily available / replaceable parts.
