I got a CME exclusive JM that was THE SHITTIEST Squier I've ever I've had, waited over a year for it: horrible neck pocket, grinding scratches on the fretboard, compound filler, sharp frets, stripped bridge screws, inconsistent paintjob. The one nice thing I'll say about it is the pickups are incredible. I've got an embarrasing amount of Squiers, so many for comparison, but the price, the wait and the reputation? Never again, CME.

I have a question. How does this compare to a normal Jaguar? I notice it doesn't have the 'rhythm' circuit, nor the tone switches. As a lefty, I am curious about the 'Mod Shop' guitars fender are making. They offer a lefty Jag, alas, it seems like this albeit with an extra 'phase' switch. My $5 question is, do there 'nu Jaguars' have the tonal range of the classic, and WTF take away what was great about the original. I actually don't want the stupid Curt Cobain Jaguars as I love the chimey, surf, sonic sound of the original Jags, not stupid grunge crap.Capitalism FUCKS everything, first making everyone drive a truck instead of an electric car, and not forcing everyone to buy a SHIT MOD version of a Jaguar, instead of the tricked up CLASSIC. Fender designs are American masterpiece, they don't need to be diminished like this!

I bought one and love it. Did you notice Fender moved the tremolo closer to the bridge for better string angle? Mustang bridge is also much nicer than the traditional Jag bridge. I miss the chrome on the upper pickguard, but oh well. Pick-ups are detailed and modern sounding, really like everything about this guitar.

Great playing. Right up my street! This is much more like your trad Jaguar than anything that Fender have been putting out for the same price point up until now. As you say, it lacks the extra switching and cool chrome stuff, but at least it's recognisably a Jaguar!
@KevinEvangelista10 күн бұрын
I'm no purist, but it just feels so ass-backwards to me whenever Fender tries to "simplify" the Jaguar. The spaceship controls, wacky styling, and jangly bridge IS the Jag's thing. Take it away and you're left with a pale imitation that frankly, should just cost half of what an original configuration goes for. Or a weird, jangly Mustang. But hey, if I wanted a Mustang, I would just go out and buy a Mustang. It kind of shows how little respect and reverence Fender gives the Jaguar (and by extension, the Jazzmaster) lines when the last faithful Jaguar model was made by Squier, and is receiving very little marketing.

Try to get the ding a uniform red. Marker can work. Then use superglue to build it up. Use a craft knife blade to scrape. Carefully sand locally upto 2000 grit and polish locally

Look into swapping the 3way to a 4way switch and you can put both pickups in series humbucking mode for a Les Paul Junior kind of vibe. Johnny Marr signature model has the 4-way switch and Telecasters use them a lot so you can find schematics either place.
@ectoplasm14 күн бұрын
The Player line is basically Fender's equivalent of like, Squier's Affinity line or something (and Vintera/VII being like, the equivalent of the Classic Vibe). Stuff that's a bit more simplified down so that new players can jump in. I guess my real issue is that spending like, $300 for a decent but dumbed-down guitar for a beginner is fine; spending almost three times that for the same concept doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm not in marketing or brand strategy or any of that nonsense, so what do I know. I decided to just save up a bit more money and imported a Japanese Jaguar and got everything I wanted out of a Jaguar. That being said, that yellow is pretty rad, and the pickups don't sound all that bad.

i get why purists are mad about the switches being gone, but you said it yourself that you don't use it....why should fender invest in adding a rhythm circuit if barely anyone uses it? i've seen so many jags and jazzmasters w/ tape over the switches, i get it if it was supposed to be a "vintage spec" instrument, but it's a player spec. overall cool video!

@crigonalgaming125816 күн бұрын
Almost nobody does point-blank distortion nowadays because hard clipping distortion on most circuits kill your mids (save for certain genres). High gain applications now typically involve stacking a bunch of low gain pedals with a Tube Screamer in between.

Also, it's around 800 bucks. Yiyah! For that amount I think you're better off working through warmoth to nail down more specific specs to your liking for about the same price. Yeah you gotta wait a lil longer and put it all together yourself but hey lol, better is still better. Plus you can use unique woods and make a one of a kind guitar instead of some mass produced generic asian or mexican trash which are almost always worse than american made guitars. Oh and warmoth has a lot of already made parts for cheaper than usual prices that you can buy. They might have just what you're lookin for so it's good to look at what they have from time to time. Lol sorry for being a jag hater hahahaha. Hey lol I got a mustang. It's... aright lol.

Nice video, thanks for the honest review. But I still wouldn’t wanna do without the original switching. There are great used Jaguars on the market. @@JasonTMays CV is Squier, not Fender. I own one and I like it, but only after I upgraded the pickups and the trem. But you’re right, I forgot about the Vintera II. Which I don’t like for its clunky black block inlays who really ruin the looks if you ask me.
@JasonTMays15 күн бұрын
@@superserioes I understand it’s a squier, however fender still makes it. But for the sake of argument, even if you negate any Squier model. You’re still left with 4 Jaguars, 1 of which is a traditional, 1 of which is stripped down, and the other two are artist models. I mean I understand you might not like the Vintera II for its block inlays but it is still a traditional Jaguar.
