Forgot this movie was coming out. Missed seeing it. Just as missed the previous one as well.

I have such incredible respect for Austin Butler; to go from Nickelodeon and Disney teen sitcoms to a role as a Manson family member in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" to a great performance as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis." His physical transformation for this role was months of training with a former Navy SEAL, and the study of the movements of apex predators--particularly snakes. And he absolutely nails the attitude and the voice--so much like Stellan Skarsgard's Baron. Just amazing. A real standout performance from an actor I hope to see a lot more of in the future.

Anybody else hit the ending of this film and say "Oh S%$#^%$# this is going to get really dark!" Interesting change from the book.

There are a few editing mistakes here: he drops it while it's open, but then she picks it up while it's closed and opens it again. Yikes. It's not a big deal, but I'm surprised Denis didn't correct this in post.

Pauls arrival with the sand bursting up behind him walking through the crowds of fremen and his oscar winning performance speech should secure that statue if not i want to know why for all the moans and groans for a few changes from the book still a masterpiece movie the sound designs visuals cinematography costume design all made this movie epic, fantastic, awesome, magnificent, stupendous all these put together is not enough for this movie

I wacthed this right before it left the theater in my area, I could be wrong but I feel like there were alot of subtle hints in the movie that the were going to kill off Ray in the end but it never happened. Makes me wonder if there was a plan for that but they decided it wasnt the right time yet.

Why do they need to change this from the book? Hiromatsu never committed seppuku, also the "unless I win" scene ist totally wrong and totally out of context. Also the "save Toranaga scene" is totally wrong. All in all this is not a masterpiece, but a typical Disney attempt to make something that is really good better, but does not succeed. These are critical scenes that define the whole characters. This has been so messed up. Read the book, if you want to understand Shogun. I just lost any interest in the series.

Something interesting that I noticed that not a lot of people seem to talk about: The fact that the worms are actually able to penetrate so far into the desert basin (visually at 4:54) that one of the worms (one on the left) has to go up from the surface and then fall at the literal gates of the building because it physically can't go any further says something about the length and the insane nature of those worms... What a great movie. (The fall of the worm could possibly also mean that the Sardaukar were actually able to kill the worms, though I find that unlikely)

This fight, while solid, did not do justice to the "feints within feints" described in the book. I thought most other knife-fights in the films - Jamis vs. Paul, Paul training with Gurney, Feud at the arena, all had this sense of the combatants planning out and thinking through every strike. This had a more raw brawler energy to it - it's effective, but not quite what I expected from the two of the most sophisticated martial artists in the story.

I am curious how far these movies will go! Will they go all the way through the entire series of books? Unlike all attempts of the past that only really got through a first couple books.

The third act of this novel is lazy. So is the film's.

I can live my life now to tell the tail that I experienced this scene in IMAX.
