I'm more concerned about the gameplay effects of pursuing a specific ending than what happens in someone's thought experiment, but it's not easy to find such pragmatic videos.. Not hating on this one though, still one of the better ones discussing what happens when the game is finished

Once you have Italy you’re going to be pretty rich and the Pope being mad at you doesn’t matter too much. You can simply buy him off if need be. You might be so strong that you can install a new Pope whenever you see fit. Also, I like the idea of just giving the Pope Ragusa. Great way to distract him while you take Italy as quick as possible. I consider getting control of Italy a top priority for any Italian faction. Italy is a region that’s starved for castles, so capturing Innsbruck can really pay dividends in the long run. It’s very close, highly defensible, and can give you unit variety that tends to be missing for early game Italian factions. With your very strong garrison units Italy can held while you take out the Byzantines.

Egypt's primary weakness is its navy. It can't build the highest tier of port, so it loses on economically there, and it can't recruit quinqueremes. Even though the AI is garbage at amphibious assaults, this still renders a late-game Egypt very susceptible to economic warfare through blockades, whether from pirates or from Rome or Carthage (if Egypt has not yet taken them out).

Spain, much like the Italian factions, can form solid militia armies. I usually have all of Iberia switched to cities by the late game even if I never attack France. A good early game strat is to slap down a couple churches fast to get a few points with the pope and then request a crusade against Cordoba. Put all your generals in the crusade army and one you take the city, all of them will have 6-7 chivalry. Huge income boost for governors.

Almost lose but after many many plundering towns or villages I managed to pay off debt that is around 30000+ hahahaha. I rational the Army that provide to the very start And Micro manage each soldier. I am proud that On my first try I managed to regain the territory I lose to the Green Romans or Rebel Romans and Barbarian Countless Horn with the Help of The Original Rome Total War. I am born Roman Wahahaha but seeing and using Barbarian Soldier makes me sad as the Glory and Honor is long forgotten and gone.

The way to Get Ahead as the Suleucids is to Abandon Suleucia, Hatra, and Sardis entirely. Take all the troops out, put it on very high tax rate to make sure they revolt, Also set up a fort in the mountain pass outside of Tarsus. This puts space between you and the Eastern factions, they'll fight amongst themselves. Fast track settlement growth and build city barracks in Antioch so you dont have to use Militia's or Levy's anymore. With all your forces concentrated, you can now push against Egypt. Phalanx Pikemen will chew up Nile spearmen with a little help from peltasts, and phalanxes hard-counter Chariots. Get a hold of all the Rich cities in the levant and the Nile. After that, You should be ready to deal with the Eastern factions.

Its pretty hard to enter Nipton & listen to the stupid dog man & not have your blood boil. I was originally going to let him live the last time I played it until I heard his horrific words & then I killed him. There is a few things I am unsure of though this time but I know I am going to help the NCR sometimes & other times take from them like with Helios 1.

Are horse archers actually hard for beginners? The game was a little rough for me UNTIL I doomstacked horse archers.
Armenia has always been my favorite. Not entirely sure why. I think I just like how they have eastern cav, roman infantry and pikes all in the same roster.

The hard thing about Germania in Rome Total War is all the morale lowering units in the roster. On VH, morale is everything. Night raiders and berserkers scare enemies just by being near them, screeching women add to this effect. So you end up with a -4 to -8 morale just facing them in battles without a general! Even with a general, expect a -4 morale when attacking them if they have night raiders, berserkers, or screeching women!

Ain’t arretum still protected by spqr armies? I’m playing mobile as Spain and I’m doing good so far capturing the middle settlement from Gaul so I kicked them out so now it’s me and Carthage but I’m building up my armies more before I kick Carthage out of the peninsula, and when Julii declare war on Gaul and moves their armies in a few turns I can do that move but the only issue I see is sometimes when I attack neighboring Rome factions spqr sends a few stack

I don’t think the legion is controversial. They are slavers. They are clearly bad. It’s arguably more controversial to call them controversial. Controversial would be more like, say, euthanasia. It’s technically killing people, but they are in pain and don’t want to live. Slavers who crucify entire towns are just bad guys lol. Also, everything leads to bloodshed. At least independence is still independence.

I always defend my cities with horse archers. I just sally out and whittle the enemy down to nothing and then flank them with a massive cavalry charge. When besieging just maintain the siege until they try to sally out and attack you and just white them down with horse archers before flanking them with a calvary charge.
@benjaminmanning530928 күн бұрын
Rome struggles against horse archers. I would have armies of nothing but horse archers, would attack, release all my arrows (whittling them down) and then withdraw. I'd then hit them with another field army of mostly heavy cavalry and some infantry and just finish them off.
@stephenpickering806329 күн бұрын
Very interesting and informative. One small issue I would point out is that when playing Greek Cities on VH/VH the Brutii generally ignore Apollonia and go straight for your settlement in Thermon. Which if you can hold it and capture can help you both because they don't have a 3rd settlement early on and because they can't get to Thermon in one sailing move so the fleet ends a little short of Thermon, That means if you can get a suitably powerful fleet you can defeat their one and send the large army on it sailing off in whatever direction. Furthermore the AS is stupid enough that it will tend to try and complete the mission with a damaged fleet so eventually you will sink it and the army its carrying.

I'm trying to mod this campaign giving western Rome only Samarobriva and some "Colonia" in Gallia, while giving the Barbarian factions every territory they held after 476 CE, even the Romano-British and the Ostrogoths. Does anyone know if someone elss has already made this mod?
@masterexploder9668Ай бұрын
If you take Phraaspa, it seems that it sets you on a road to war vs Parthia, as they really want that settlement. I did try to beeline for Seleucids to the south after it, but instead Parthia quickly besieged that city and also went for capital at the same time. So try to avoid it. They are kinda still easy to take out if you got more horse archers than them and some generals to hold their cataphracts. In siege of their capital I simply shot everything to death. After that, swinging south to go for Seleucia and Susa. Perhaps migration to Greece might be more viable, though. Or at least trying to get Anatolia instead. It's still a pretty slow campaign, you won't become an instant superpower anyway. Going for Seleucids after dealing with Parthia makes a lot of sense. Unlike AI, you can use cav effectively and dominate. Early on, they just don't have good options to deal with Armenia's roster. Keep your cav away from phalanx and you should be set. In case of Egypt, chariots are fragile and demolished by mass missile fire. As you capture bigger Seleucid cities, you will probably also gain access to heavy spearmen, who are essentially phalanx pikemen. I would say Armenia will have tools to deal with Egypt as well, they just need to get their economy on track.

I kinda love the blue colour scheme of the Scipii plus based on Scipio Africanus. Julii just feels like the right faction to pick though purely because red and, Y'know, Julius Caesar.

Carthage easily have better infantry and cavalry than Egypt. Also have elephants. Only thing worse compared with Egypt is ranged. They don't have an equivalent Pharaoh's bowmen, and no chariots.
