Nice shots, film held up great. Curious if you thought to use that FLD filter with it? Also...Note to self, don't go out after dark in Bremmerton, less the fire or thing that screams gets ya! #fujifilmliveson 🎉 Cheers!

I did think of using the FLD filter and that’s how I stumbled upon the miracle which was Fuji’s 4th layer emulation and what it actually did. Pretty incredible to be honest. Also Bremerton definitely isn’t for the faint of heart! Hahahaha

I’m not sure where you’re getting those development times from. Rolliei specifically states on their data sheet that for every stop pushed it’s 1.33 times the base development time. So 15 x 1.33 = 19.95. Multiply by 1.33 again and you get 26.5 minutes. The only way you’d develop this long is if you were doing stand development in Rodinal instead of agitation or rotary development. Also when you push using Rodinal it’s usually a good idea to increase the dilution by 1.5ml per stop per roll in the tank. The margin for error on this film is really low at box speed. Your metering mistakes are really amplified and you absolutely should meter for the shadows. Under development probably wasn’t really an issue. I’d say the primary issue was metering in several frames since you definitely had some looking good. Some of them looked 2 stops underexposed and others a single stop.

Great vid! If that’s not an aero stock, it sure renders like one. I personally love the way it looks, especially open at golden hour. I’ve noticed when shooting Aerocolor/Reflx 100 closer to mid-day, the base look I get out of negative lab pro can be more inconsistent with various casts to correct, so I wonder if that happens with other inversion software too and opens up more to creative decision variation when getting the scans for these stocks. In any case, it’s unique, and it was interesting to see such a broad range of conditions and subjects as you’ve included here. Thanks for sharing!
@northwestdepressed

Yeah I used Negative Lab Pro as well, but I used an Epson scanner rather than a mirrorless/DSLR set up. This video took quite awhile to release because it took me ages to correct them in post to something I semi liked. Also been dying to try some of those reflex film stocks!

The " Naked Photographer " has tested this film and states that it is a 25 ISO film and at 400 ISO it is already pushed 4 stops. You are shooting this film with a 6 stop push, madness.
@northwestdepressed
@northwestdepressed 2 ай бұрын
If that's true, I feel even worse for my lab now, hahahaha. Honestly, that would make a lot of sense though that it is a lower iso film that they push, especially with that amount of contrast at 400 iso. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to go check out his video now!

Thanks for trying filters with this film. The one thing I find particularly objectionable about it is its turning the natural color of vegetation into something that looks like injection-molded blue-green plastic suitable for cheap goldfish bowl decor. Your experiments have saved me from trying out an FLD filter, which I had considered trying. I also, however, very much applaud Harmon working on a new color film stock. One other thing, in this and another video, I wish you has said something about how you meter night shots. If you cover that elsewhere, I'd appreciate a link. Take care.
@northwestdepressed
@northwestdepressed 3 ай бұрын
I never thought about the Goldfish bowl decor vegetation, but that's too funny! As for the night shots I metered for the shadows and just presumed that reciprocity started at 1 second. If I can recall correctly most the exposures were around 8-12 seconds, with reciprocity accounted for. I just got a bunch more Harman Phoenix and I've been debating what to shoot with, so maybe a follow up video that focuses on night photography might be in the works sooner than later!
