Games like this just don’t come around much anymore, not even in the Zelda series. They’re really indicative of a bottled moment in time, where all the stars aligned and the perfect team was brought together under the perfect circumstances to make something truly special. Kids these days can have their big open world adventures, but I know of a time where this was as big as it got and people were happy. I’m only 17, but I think sometimes I was born too late.

Did it take anyone a little longer for Aerith's death to sink in? I had played all the final fantasy games prior to this one. So, my first reaction was how inconvenient this was and I'll just use a phoenix down and bring her back and the game goes on. And it really couldn't bring her back that I suddenly took her death way more seriously. Because, before that, there really wasn't any permanent death in these games that were as significant as her death

A couple of years ago was playing through the trilogy on original hardware. Had a blast, beat 2 and 3 to 100% (played out of order, couldn't find the first locally), went to play the last level of Turok 1 and my memory card wiped :/ Great game, but I'm not gonna play it again until I buy the HD remaster. Great video! Really like your style and looking forward to more videos

Great video! Subscribed and playlist saved. I'll always love Ocarina, still remember my brother opening it Christmas morning that year and being excited. It was his game, so he got to play it first. He would tell me all about it, and I couldn't wait to play it myself. When I finally got my chance I couldn't believe how awesome the game was. The world felt huge (replaying it later I would realize how small it actually is), the night and day cycle and weather effects made it feel real. Maybe you had to be there, but to me this game will always be a masterpiece.

3:02:42 There is a way to lose during the final battle/ duel with Sephiroth.. If you stand there and do nothing Sephiroth will attack you and you can actually die and get a game over here. Sure, why would you let that happen lol… but just wanted to clarify that there is a way to lose since it was mentioned there is no way to lose.

@@redcomnfinal fantasy vii. You have to complete the chocobo breeding mini game, obtain a golden chocobo, and cross the water with it to this desert looking island that your ship or plane can't land on. D&D vs FF? Nah wrong take dude
@thedadliestman17 күн бұрын
I wouldn't say versus, my main take was that if according to the opinion of Japanese companies that Western players didn't enjoy deeper RPG systems, D&D would be a great counter argument since it was wildly popular in both the 80's and 90's, showing that Western players definitely had an interest in those mechanics.

I was 17 when this OoT was released, but I didn’t own an N64 until I was 19. Back in 1999 we had dial-up internet. No youtube, very few and hard-to-find online walkthroughs. I had just moved out of my parents’ house and I had my very own apartment with no roommates. (I’m sure I’m not the only introvert among us…). I sat on my cheap futon and played this game on my clunky tube TV for hours and days and weeks. The characters were my friends and I have so many wonderful memories of unlocking these secrets all by myself. I played this game through at least 6 times over the course of my young adulthood. As much as I’d love to replay it today (still have the old N64), I can’t get past the polygons and technical limitations. Watching your video is a perfect substitution … thank you for posting. ❤

@thedadliestman Hey Dadliest great video my man. You seem to be open to criticism from your viewers so I have some of my own to add. You have nothing to apologize for, NOTHING. Do not pay attention to the dbags throwing a fit over a name bring mispronounced. I guess people really will find anything to complain about these days. People posting comments about how they can't believe that a person could continue to mispronounce a name are not the kind of people you should take criticism from. Those are the type of people you flat ignore. It's likely they are simply miserable with themselves, and miserable to be around. Anyway, keep up the awesome work!😂

I played this game in '98 when i was like 13. It was the first RPG/JRPG I ever played and I remember the story sucked me in and I kept playing because I wanted to know what happened next. The sound track was also amazing. I remember I hooked up my TV to my Stereo and recorded my favorite songs on a cassette tape! Great video man, but I had to stop watching it, since watching this made me realize I don't remember much of the plot anymore, so I have a chance to replay it again and kinda be surprised. I'll come back and finish it then!

35:33 Aerith is the proper spelling and pronunciation. The Japanese is translated poorly. The Japanese don’t have a “th” sound in their vocabulary, so they just say Ay - Ri - Su(with a sharpness that implies the “th” sound, japanese is wierd) but it’s a context thing. I don’t blame the translators. There probably wasn’t a lot of back and forth communication back in the day.
@thedadliestmanАй бұрын
I'm pretty sure the initial translation from Japanese to English had to have been a nightmare. We're pretty blessed with how international minded the whole process regarding game design is these days.

Just though I let everyone know although the save file works once your playing it, if you quit the game and come back the next day, you seem to start of from the beginning of the game again, so consider before you buy this game on Steam, you may end up with same problem, I love this game I played it since it came out, but I may end up asking for my money back due to the saves not working on Steam, not certain why it doesn't work just know it doesn't.
@thedadliestmanАй бұрын
I was looking around but it seems this issue has been around for a while. I think if you turn off cloud saving in the launcher, it'll stick to local saves.
@thomasenright5282Ай бұрын
@@thedadliestman I did do that it did save for that day I was playing, but next day when I went back onto Steam even though it was offline the saves didn't show up and ended up at starting point again, Steam themselves should not sell games that they don't support or that don't allow people to be able to save the game.
