Hi, Mariana! Would you mind sharing a link or information for the wrap you included in the pashmina section? The color is so gorgeous. Loved this video! I'm also super inspired by the "sciuras" but had no idea of the name!

I try to be presentable but sometimes in a big city like nyc there’s a reason why people are wearing yoga pants and flip flops when not at work. I would wear sneakers if it wasn’t for me suffering from huge swelling feet from walkin have I flip flop. hours a day in a hot summer city. I choose health and comfort and a happy smile on my face.

My mother is from Africa, she hasn’t been to the states in a long time. Once my parents retired and moved to the states my mom was absolutely shocked at how casual everyone was dressing but she refuses to dress like them day to day. She always looks effortlessly put together. I’ve been living in the states for a long time and I strive to be like her.

I dress up every day for work during the week, and dress well on weekends too. Sometimes I post my outfits on Instagram which my friends enjoy. I dress well for me, but certainly enjoy the compliments. One of my favorite quotes, attributed to jeweler Harry Winston, is “People will stare. Make it worth their while.” Words to live by!!! So happy I stumbled across your channel!♥️♥️♥️

I found this channel and I happen to be 11 weeks. But I totally relate to the issue with normal clothes fitting but maternity clothes being too big. I think a lot of people have told me dresses with elastic waists. Try them on and pull the waist out to see how it will fit!!!! A lot of stretchy pants on Amazon with “elastic waists” so they look like work pants but feel like leggings. I also heard people saying to order a size up and that should accommodate you for a majority of the pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy so I can’t vouch for them but I think I will try this. Maternity clothes are so hideous 🤣💀

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado. Comfortable , casual clothes were necessary when working with horses. I respect myself and those around me- clothes just didn't have that much significance in the culture I grew up in. Now that there are so so so so so many people in the state from other places where appearance is much more important, I feel self conscious about my casual style. It's actually such a bummer.

I’ve been thinking something similar. I’m in Colorado too.

Most older women don't dress like Madison Ave. They look sort of silly to me. They can be arrogant and stuffy. One would be robbed if they walked around in my area. No woman in her right mind would advertise her designer goods. Most women want to be themselves. Oh by the way, not all older women are grandmothers. There's make believe and then there is reality, especially on Madison Ave. 😂

Another great tip is undergarments! Obviously, right? But for fitted things like dresses and suits, having correct undergarments is important. It can also be great for other clothes, and it will make you look amazing. Look for things like shape wear that cover the entire torso (and a built in bra preferably for women) and slips.
@user-eb3sh7bq4h5 күн бұрын
Yes! So many women don’t wear slips or any type of shape wear underneath skirts and dresses.

I definitely think that having clean and neat nails and a haircut that suits your face and lifestyle makes a big difference. And the thing that people always forget about budget is that you don't need lots of clothes, you just need a few items that fit you well and that you love to wear. I was in the supermarket this weekend and I saw a lady, who turned out was in her 80's, and she looked so good i actually stopped her to let her know that she was the most stylish person in the whole store❤. She had completely white hair, but she had a great haircut, simple clothes, but a great necklace and awesome sunglasses 😎. No fancy logos, but so beautiful 🤩

Beauty in simplicity… I just love that so much, Ana! I think a lot of people’s fear of dressing up comes from the notion that it takes too much work, when in actuality it’s just a few precise steps that make all the difference. If you see her again, tell her I too think she’s awesome 😊

I like your tips. But you recomented a few very bad brands though. I try to stay away from cheap fast fashion - for the people that make my cloths and the environment. No hate at all - it´s just on my mind and heart. Maybe something to consider? I like to wear dresses - it´s so easy. Love from Germany

Lately, I have been getting lots of compliments about "dressing well" in very casual situations. People notice and they are pleasantly surprised when you do wear clothing well and look put together. All I am wearing are pretty dresses. The one that gets the most compliments is a $12 dress I found at Ross. It *can* be done on a budget.

My problem with online shopping is that I can't try things on. Sizing is inconsistent, and even if you get the size right, often the shape won't fit or won't look good on you or will be just plain uncomfortable. Around 90% of things I try on in shops I don't like the fit of. This is a problem because with online shopping returning is often not an option, and when it is, it's a logistic nightmare that you have to pay for yourself, at least where I live. Not to mention that if you order from abroad the shipping cost and especially taxes will be insane. The only time when I would consider ordering something online is when it's the exact brand, model and size I had and liked before, and available in my country.

I totally understand your point, Elena. In Italy (and I guess in the US as well), return policies are very easy. Working in fashion, I know companies already factor in that a percentage of pieces will get returned, so it’s just part of the game for them.

Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee? I’m surprised to hear that… I mean from someone living in Italy. Why? Lol …also dressing in rural areas, nice basics… instead of t shirt get a button down, use accessories….jewelry, nice bags, belts, shoes. Look nice but not over the top. Congratulations! Dresses will be your friends. Maybe some nice linen kaftan type dresses. I was laying on my bathroom floor for the first 3 months of my pregnancy or in the hospital (hyperemesis gravidarum) getting treated for dehydration. Twin pregnancy …. It will eventually pass or be tolerable.

Hello Mariana, I totally agree with you. For many years I suffered from depression and was very overweight, so I had very bad skin too, so I hid my body in shapeless baggy dresses and looked terrible. Neighbours started bullying me too and looked down on me. Finally age 54 during the lockdown I changed my way of eating to whole food plant-based and I lost a lot of weight while still eating delicious big portions. I have become slim, which is what I've always wanted to be, and have stayed slim. For the first time in my life I look good in clothes and have a lovely wardrobe with simple Parisian-chic clothes that I will wear forever. I feel good about myself and my body for the first time in my life, it's really never too late to change. People respect me more, I walk with a good posture and my head held high. The bullies are wondering why I'm so happy while they are still miserable! My mental health has greatly improved and now I have a grateful, positive attitude to life. If anyone is interested in losing weight in a sensible, healthy way, see the Physicians' Committee channel (a non-profit organisation) or google the free version of Dr McDougall's starch solution. PS Gym/athleisure clothes should only be worn at the gym imo and elasticated waists encourage overeating - I wear fitted clothes like my lovely Italian grandma used to do, that's my motto!

You cannot be more natural at doing a KZbin channel! I just adore you and I just think you are absolutely glowing as a woman with child! Seriously! Your advice and wisdom is so spot on… I am 60 years old and I concur with everything you are saying! I tend to be that person in my circle who loves to dress up, and I always feel on Sundays. It’s a great opportunity to show respect to my heavenly father when I go to church by Looking, dressed up! I’m trying to get into the day-to-day dressing up or at least like you were talking about looking a little more put together… And I’m not there every day yet but I’m getting there! Do love clothes and I love all the brands that you love as well… I have the same kind of style you do and it really is such a joy to follow you!❤

This was great. As a Cuban originally from Miami, where women getting their nails done is considered mandatory and not discretionary spending, that has retired to southern Tennessee...my tip is to stay true to yourself, with moderation. I once asked a postal clerk in my town if it made their day a little brighter to see someone come in dressed like they cared vs. in pajamas, and they said absolutely yes. So, there you have it. Make someone's day, people are noticing even if they don't say anything. And as for shopping in my area, I was over-joyed when a Marshall's opened up over here. Yeah, it's just that bad. Deep sigh. But the cost of living and the views make up for the lack. Your bump is coming along nicely...you look beautiful and have the glow. I think it's now your best accessory. :-)

You are absolutely right! I grew up in Miami, came from Cuba on the freedom flights early 70s. I also live in Tennessee and have not changed the way I was raised in regard to my appearance. I love Tennessee but yes there are times I miss Miami. I am almost always a bit overdressed in comparison to my peers.

I got the idea of what to say and how to protect my motivation and feelings from Gentlemen's Gazette, a KZbin channel. He and the others on his channel are quite varied in how they dress up, but they did address this issue of what to say to others. I moved regions in the USA and was shocked at how "CASUAL" the Midwest had become. I went to an evening Broadway show and dressed up and was SHOCKED when I got there, and a person had jeans on! I honestly did not think you would be allowed in. But what takes the cake is seeing young ladies with underwear yes underwear going to the store. I was so angry. I guess they are supposed to be shorts but you can see through them, and no underwear and their buttocks were literally hanging out. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR BODY PARTS at the store. Sigh...it is about dignity and respect for yourself and others. I t is not about how expensive the clothes are.

Great video!! It doesnt take anymore effort to throw on a summer dress than putting on sweatpants and a tshirt👍I do feel tho women who are exhausted, maybe a mom with 4 kids who works full time perhaps, or a similar scenario is too tired to even think about how to dress. Its called exhaustion. I know I put way more effort in getting dressed when Im well rested.
