I have not been to Boothbay Harbor. I drove out to Harpswell - Bailey Island once, and I did drive a bit down Route 27 before turning back. All of these Maine peninsulas and islands are a bit a ways from U.S. Route 1.

This is/was the friendliest town. When we returned after 9 months from Desert Shield & Desert Storm, the town folk met us at the air port with fresh milk, fresh cookies...boy, what a treat! And the latrines were clean and had plenty of hot water for shaving...I will always have fond memories of Bangor. Thank you.

This accent and the way he says "northern" and "border" reminds me of a south Louisiana cajun accent to be honest. It must be because both areas has a strong French background.

It is possible that this will be the faith of future generations in quebec, where people may start to use english more and more to the point of seeing no point of learning it anymore. I speak french by the way, grew up in Quebec. I couldn't speak english until my late twenties. I like to eat poutine very much. If you happen to come to Quebec you may try one in any Costco's restaurants, they have a nice one there.

Thank you for the amazing review. This is a blast from the past for me, the first year we started the lobster dip. The Route 66 is amazing and we have only continued to grow our house made assortment of Maine Cuisine and plenty of other amzing options. The Reece family are amazing. I hope you have the chance to try us out again. Thank you again, Chef Jamison

what's Stephen Kings accent? it's different from yours, but still unquestionably Maine, just like yours
@YOUandMaine13 күн бұрын
Stephen grew up in Durham across the river from Lisbon. He has moved around the state a bit. He lived in Bridgton on the Kansas Rd when I was in High School and would visit there (Lake Region) often. Later, he moved to Bangor where I just moved from after spending ten years there. For the record, he is one odd duck. His wife had an apple orchid not far from Bridgton, but has recently sold it (my nephews wife worked there).

Love maine always have. We bought some land up in the county and are building our cabin so we can retire there. Nothing like fresh / new potatos. Bit of advice to anyone moving there. If you like maine, then don't vote and make it into where you came from. That's about as nice as i can put it.

@@YOUandMaine I meant Bangor IN Brittany. I wish I could visit your Bangor one day, though, as well as your Maine wich must be way different from the Maine I know in France. Enjoy greatly the tone and humour and the way of living you give to show, quite exotic for someone from the Old Continent. Thanks for your kind reply, best regards, from Brittany (the region)😉

5 min. Ago I read how TERRIBLE maine is because of the commies from mass. N.y. n.j. conn. etc ruining everything? I would rather believe him.
@YOUandMaine14 күн бұрын
They are certainly having their impact on the coast and around the lakes. Folks from mass, New York, New Jersey buying up two and $300,000 homes destroying them and building $1.2 million homes. Harpswell is a perfect example of that. That, however, does not define the rest of Maine.

Good point about generations. I dated a Greek-American boy in college years ago, His second-gen parents spoke Greek, but my friend could only understand a bit from hearing them talk to his grandparents, and pronounce words correctly, without fluency at all. It's a pattern, apparently.

15 Kennebec Street. My grandparents lived here for decades. Pierre Lacombe, grandfather worked at Hathaway Shirt Company as engineer repairing machinery. Marie Jeanne Lacombe (Veilleux) both of Beauceville, Canada as a Piano Prodigy. Played piano at OPERA HOUSE and throughout New England. Notre Dame was her Church. I was Baptized at Francis de Sale Catholic Church May 10, 1954. Then put in Orphanage as my KOREA WAR VET dad traveled selling wood stoves. Mom joined him. Unable to travel with a baby they left me in Maine 5 years. 1960 I was picked up and brought out to Santa Monica, California where I've been off and on since. Today I walk on ANNENBERG BEACH RESORT daily in Santa Monica and remember those years leaving Maine, returning to Maine and thinking about my home State of Maine. In many fond ways. Picking Fiddleheads. Fly-fishing. Traveling around the State to Moosehead, Sanford Lake, Maine to visit fellow US Army Veterans. My friend Mark Carter taught me a lot about our Maine. In 1968 at age 14 I returned to live with grandparents, and it was memorable. Got into some trouble and left again. US Army 1972 followed. NATO HQs working for General Al Haig. And the rest is history. I worked for Corporate America in 9 countries after graduating from UCLA, Woodbury University in International business. I learned one thing, 'you cannot keep a 'Mainer' down - We are tough people. French/Canadians. Thanks for video. First few seconds of video I saw where my Mother died 2001, LEVINES DEPT. STORE APARTMENTS. Now a Hotel on Main street. RIP. Dad divorced mom in 1962 and she returned to Maine to live out her life. Dad died in Las Vegas in 1991. Age 61. cancer of brain. Married 5 times. Yes, FIVE. Hell, it is Las Vegas. LMAO Too easy. Marriages are just about 'drive-thru' these days. disgusting. Dad was a very selfish loser. Drank every day and cared less about people. He blamed it on losing his father ate age 13 and KOREA WAR. BS. He was just lazy ad helpless.

How did Canada get it's name? Three trappers sitting around a fire, a, and decide they need to name their new country, a. The first man to speak up says, " I think that it should begin with C, a? The second man says how about an N, a? and the third man says we need a D, a? and there it was the new same. CaNaDa.

PUCKER or PUCKAH BRUSH, this word means thick brush you can get into quick and disappear. Why you may ask. When visiting someone and you get up to leave, they say "WHAT'S YOU PUCKAH?" PUCHAH or PUCKER means to tighten or squeeze together. When you have to take a dump and are gopher holing, you pucker your butt and your in a real hurry to find a spot to drop your drawers somewhere out of sight. Hense the thick brush, or PUCKAH BRUSH. If you have to take a leak, any tree will do. Mainiacs don't wear Beaners clothes, imports do.
