I visited Schoodic Point several times in the 1980s. It did not matter whether it was high or low tide, the waves are always crashing on the rocks. A place where there is constant variety of waves capes and unchanging rock formations with enough interest so you are always fascinated and never bored. I cannot think of another stretch of coast with such variety and unity in such a relatively small area.

Just visiting Maine and Boston from Minnesota with my wife for our 25th. I know people say we have crazy accents in Minnesota and maybe some of us do, I just love to hear the differences and I’ve always held a special place for Maine accents. Thanks for sharing!

Three years ago, my wife and I rented the Airbnb in Stonington a little boathouse just up from Green head lobster we thought we were going to Bar Harbor and she found this place so we decided to go and we did leave completely changed. We took two trips on the mailboat over to Isle Au Haut… eventually learned how to pronounce it… Several days a few hours each time spend at sand beach… I hopped the rocks out along the shoreline did some fishing kept looking in the water, wondering if some great white beast would surface, or at least a seal. Walked merchant row every evening. Ate did every restaurant restaurant…. Some several times. 44 North Coffee…. Can’t wait to get back there. Then to place where the guy has the little town re-created and the quirky spots through the woods and the jam and jellies they make we actually ordered those pretty regularly now. Deer Isle… cannot wait to get back to you.

I am from Oregon and we say "honkin" too! I thought it was just a normal thing everybody says haha. I've also heard a version of the "ayuh" where I'm from. Oregon has some interesting colloquialisms that oddly seem to have counterparts in other corners of the country. I would love to understand why one day, it's all so fascinating to me. The Cajuns and Acadians are the same people group that originated in Nova Scotia. They were kicked out by the English, half went to Louisiana and the other group went to the Saint John River valley. Beautiful people, hard working, and you will never find a better neighbor.

It is possible that this will be the faith of future generations in quebec, where people may start to use english more and more to the point of seeing no point of learning it anymore. I speak french by the way, grew up in Quebec. I couldn't speak english until my late twenties. I like to eat poutine very much. @YOUandMaine5 ай бұрын
Stephen grew up in Durham across the river from Lisbon. He has moved around the state a bit. He lived in Bridgton on the Kansas Rd when I was in High School and would visit there (Lake Region) often. Later, he moved to Bangor where I just moved from after spending ten years there. For the record, he is one odd duck. His wife had an apple orchid not far from Bridgton, but has recently sold it (my nephews wife worked there).
