Me, watching this on my big screen, while commenting from my tiny screen, while also “multitasking” and scrolling though other apps 🤦🏻♀️ I do HEAVILY utilize the “focus modes” on my phone. So after 5pm all my work apps are muted and nothing gets looked at until the next morning. I have a hard time disconnecting from work at the end of the day and this helps a ton, and on vacation too! Great episode gents 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

We say that all the time to clients who want to develop their glutes. Smaller waist = bigger butt (assuming you’re training the glutes).

I always think I’m in a plateau but when I zoom out on month to month progress, it’s always going down!!! And then it’s a little reality check of “hey this stuff is slow but you’re still on the right track” 🤩 I think the “don’t get desperate” advice is 🔑

Listening to this as I do my home workout that I was NOT inspired to do, but it’s all about the mindset 🙌🏻 It also feels so much better after doing something challenging versus something super easy

Aw the lil shout out 🫶🏼 I always tell people the trick is to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable!!!!!! I also will refuse to run on a treadmill, SO BORING. And also I’ve realized I’m not a fan of Pilates, but I gave it a really honest 3 tries! I think it’s hard to find what you love but you have to be dedicated to really and truly trying something if you’re first starting out.

Comparison is the thief of joy 😅 I love competition and I am super competitive. I do think the slight “competition” with other people in the gym helps me push a bit harder mentally and physically. I also love love sports, and grew up playing a lot of sports and that probably contributes to the love of competition. I just think it’s all a mental/psychological game to determine for yourself when competition is great and extrinsically motivating versus when comparison will contribute to a more negative self-image. Thanks for sharing your perspective on why you do the challenge, Julian. I was wondering “what’s in it for the trainers” PS - The ad read really got me guys. So good 😂

I’ve read that there are studies that find exercise is more effective than SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft, lexapro, etc). If anybody else is interested, I learned a lot on that in a book titled Spark by John J Ratey. It was so enlightening honestly, it was like exercise cures everything. And if it came in pill form it would be the best selling drug on the market.
@AliSegovia2 ай бұрын
Ok another comment on this, exercise facilitates the forming of neural connections (or whatever the science term is). These connections die every day, just like any other cell in the body (skin cells, etc). When you exercise you accelerate the forming of connections at a pace faster than they die, which is why exercise helps in preventing neurological issues like Alzheimer’s and dementia. Same book 😂 Aaaand sorry I just got to the part where you mentioned about the SSRIs haha.
@Wearebfit2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the book rec! And that’s such a good point about if exercise came in pill form….literally helps with everything
