Im very excited about the prospect of PF2e hacks coming out in the future, because those pillars seem so well designed and synergized way beyond the topic of hacking, im curious from what you said about hero points to compensate for the swinginess of the d20... what you would use as an alternative to the d20, all pillars still in place but if you had the ability to truly redraw the math from scratch. Something more akin to the D6 system? 2d12? Something else entirely?

One thing that took me a while to understand about 2e design is that it really doesn't support attrition style DMing very well. Slots and staves are all finite, of course, but healing is readily available to anyone with the medicine skill (and a free hour), and encounter design broadly assumes PCs are entering with close to full health. On the one hand, this is devastating because I LOVE a meat grinder of a dungeon, but on the other, once I grokked that and started building accordingly, everyone had a much more fun experience. Nothing says you can't block healing on occasion, but HP simply isn't the agonizingly finite resource it is in the games predecessors and contemporaries.

Oh no. Shame that this is the last episode. I am new to Pathfinder and was doing the same playthrough as Haggound witch. Was learning a lot because I struggle understanding how to build a character (stat wise).

Jason, I so appreciate this super informative video! As someone keen to design a PF2E derivative, I'm curious about what I can legally borrow from PF2E and avoid copyright issues. For example, I cannot use names and phrases associated with Paizo's IP, like some monster names, place names (i.e. Golarion), names of iconic characters, some of the ancestry names, etc. Suppose I wanted to implement the skill and feat system from PF2E along with their names and associated proficiencies (Untrained, Trained, Expert, Master, Legendary) in an early 20th-century steampunk setting. How much "congruence" can I get away with while not infringing on Paizo's copyright? I realize my question may require a detailed and lengthy answer, so could you recommend a guide to follow?

Is this more for hopefinder? Will this be compatible? I see a mushroom cloud, do we get radiation and mutants? Hype.
@JasonBulmahn3 ай бұрын
This is a separate game from Hopefinder, set just a few years from now. Elements will be compatible due to both being based on Pathfinder 2E, but they are very much different stories.
@zolgathor3 ай бұрын
@JasonBulmahn Fair enough, I read that it would be point-buy based, so I'm now assuming it's completely separate. I'm excited to see what you do with this, will it involve the supernatural? Or is the hell suffix based on "war is hell"? Either ways I enjoy the proto-modern settings you've made so far. Cheers!

Jason, why does access to the font file for those four symbols require an application made with stated intent to make products as a third party developer? I feel like you're asking people to lie to Paizo through the application, meant for developers, for a basic GMing resource which could easily be made available in the Community Use Package downloads. So, I told the application that I'm not making products, just wanting the font file for GM housekeeping. I hope that's good enough.

Shot in the dark given it has been a year, but can you do a video on how to build a dragon of a different age than the ones in the book. One of the most memorable moments I have of 3.5/Pathfinder is my fellow adventurers and I walking into a cave thinking it was a Chimera and stepping on a fresh green wyrmling shell, and now that I GM I would love to be able to give my players that feel of dragons can be found at any level in an adventure.

Great match! Too bad the bramble brawlers often moves before striking... Root could have survives waaay longer by moving After attacking, instead of limiting himself to stay within 30ft of Bull

Hi, Duet DM here: So, I have been into Duets and PbPs for the last year and, after testing a Duet on Pf2e, I want to throw my 2 cents. I run published modules (I don't have time nor energy to prepare a full campaign right now) so, I wanted to run Gatewalkers after my last game fluked. This time, it would be for a party of 3, instead of 4. Knowing how difficult some encounters are, I decided to let the party of 3 be 1 level higher and... Welp, yesterday we almost had a TPK (first encounter of the Book 1, Chapter 2 Dungeon). So, when I decided to run this as a duet, I had to decide how many levels the PC would be over the intended for 4 players. Keep in mind this PC has: Double Classing (Fighter/Cleric), Ancestral Paragon, Free Archetype, and is level 5 when the adventure is for level 1. Most of the encounters went well, but she was about to be killed not once, but twice. Idk if this speaks for the difficulty of the modules (the players commit mistakes here and there, but a balanced adventure should have some wiggle room, not demand perfect play turn by turn), the strength of action economy or idk...

This system seems quite interesting. Pf2e is great, and I'd love to have a ttrpg for a zombie apocalypse!

Im trying to make a higher level medusa who uses an arquebus instead of a bow. The hardest part for me is evaluating conditional extra damage on the attacks. Both the original medusa and the hobgoblin sharpshooter who i am looking at for gunslingery monster inspiration have extra conditional damage on their attacks. Would it be too messy to have both?
@a.m.pietroschek197211 ай бұрын
Sir, that early in the game our chars, when not cheating, are as low level as the monsters, so that fight on harder difficulty could get even `tanks (fighter, paladin, barbarian)´ killed. 🤔

Only in it to complain about the final not telling us how that necro-elf was a mere lackey & it was Saint Eggathoa the Clucky who restored the world to what the gods wanted. 🤣

You guys were so much fun to watch! But an important strategy Silo missed was, it would have been better to use the table as cover instead of doing a normal attack twice.

Thanks so much for this! More than 40 years of DMing/playing D&D and recently have been testing out the move to Pathfinder. I was recently trying to make some 5e monsters and the rules were so vague and convoluted it gave me a massive headache. Your video not only gave me a CLUE on how much simpler making monsters can be, the creation process is actually FUN. I've been watching many of your tutorials, and all were helpful, but this more than any, made me feel confident (AND EXCITED!) to be moving to Pathfinder.

Paizo seriously needs to look into creating a full on Pathfinder 1st/3rd person open world RPG video game. An "ACTUAL" RPG game, not these fake Bethesda/WotC wanna be games.

Switching from 5e to pathfinder 2e has put me off of playing casters. I can't get my head around having to pick certain spells at certain levels to learn each day and only being able to cast it the amount of times that you choose . I see my caster being completely useless in a lot of situations because I choose the wrong spells. So I then decide to choose a non caster.
@robbanks4552 Жыл бұрын
This was amazingly helpful, so often I see people talking about PF2 as some kind of holy relic that cannot be home-brewed or touched in any way without destroying the balance of the game and doing your players a disservice. It's so refreshing to see someone crack open the hood and mess around, and generally say "it's ok!" I'd love to see more on this level!
