I am a beer drinker. I was caught in alcohol free Brunei during the covid lockdown. Local expats told me of their ways to overcome the stress of alcohol free beer o'clock including making ginger beer. I found this video and the rest as they say is history. I make 3 batches of 22 liters each per month following the recipe except I don't bother with the lemon. I have tried various variations but now just follow the basic ingredients. At beer o'clock my friends used to take the piss out of me but now accept it. I relax and unwind, never drunk and never a hangover and my lady is pleased as she has extra cash for her special treats.

Kevin, thank you for your videos. However, I am in the US and use inches to begin. So, I am unable to follow along with-I have exhausted my search for an in-depth step by step tutorial for Scribus 1.5.8 version. Any suggestions? It is impossible to reach anyone at Scribus.

I reckon you could be even lazier if you wanted and just chop the lemon up like the ginger. I think the boiling and then the steeping overnight would probably be enough, rather than grating and juicing separately.

Can,t I just put the whole lemon in the blender and pour it in the pot after?

Putting this info out there for someone looking for approximate ABV: I brewed this recipe exactly but with Safale US-05 yeast for 10 days. Corrected Specific Gravity (initial): 1.055 Corrected Specific Gravity (final): 0.999 ABV: 7.5% I also checked on 5th day, it was 5.9% This is obviously before bottle conditioning.

Dislike for the "no sterilization needed". You definitely want to sterilize. That is the #1 thing you absolutely need to do.

Superb, as usual, coming back to this video after some time. Although in this case I was not seeking to make a 3 fold brochure, it reminded me of some simple but very important techniques that I do need for my current project. Thank you once again Kevin.

Even though they are now quite old, and refer to an old version of Scribus, Kevin's series of Scribus videos are still just about the clearest and the best place to start for someone who knows very little about it, and can get you going very quickly. It would be lovely if he was able to come back and make videos covering later versions, but we can be very grateful for these, and that they are still available. Thank you Kevin.

That's very kind of you - so few people take the time to say thank you. It really is appreciated. I no longer use Scribus, so won't be making any more. I actually created these for my classes in school. I'm so pleased that they have been useful to many others. ;-)

I’m on day 8 and the ginger beer is still bubbling! I’m going on holiday tomorrow, is it okay to bottle it before the fermenting is complete?

Only recipe I use to make ginger beer. I’ve been coming back for a couple years and I’m still amazed that it’s not at the top of the search results on KZbin. I also recommend adding a couple black tea bags before the first fermentation.

if I use 2x 10liter water bottles, will it change the fermentation process because of the extra air? I can't seem to locate 6lt ones?

Thanks a mill Kevin! This recipe has gotten me through a hard booze lockdown in South Africa. Recipe is spot on and will be my drink of choice even after lockdown. I added half a chili pepper to the brew, gives a nice kick. Cheers

9 years later, these are still some of the best Scribus tutorials I have so far found on KZbin. Many thanks! Would be super if you might think of making more, for more recent versions of Scribus. (But please keep these; they are really good for getting started).

Hi. Thanks for a great video. My ginger beer has been fermenting for 9 days and there is still a little fizz and the baloon is still inflated. It is Autumn but in Africa, so really not that cold. A bit worried about leaving it too long. Can I bottle now and if so is it still safe to drink? Thanks so much.

Ginger beer Alc. 5-8% Ginger Water Sugar, lemon, Brewing yeast, yeast boosted Smash ginger up for more surface area and flavour Fill with water and add chopped ginger into water proceed to add 100g of sugar for every litre 150g if your out to get twonked. Wait for it chill to body temp proceed to remove any particulates in the water and pour into fermenter and top up with a bit of extra water. Let it sit for about 3 days or so and then place into fridge to prevent any further fermentation. Notes: better with ice and tonic. And like this because not gonna lie this is as short as I could make it for you lazy guys in the comments 😂😂

Well this was my quarantine project. Thanks a mil for the perfect recipe, method and clear video. I live in Ireland so I did the fermentation in the attic where it would be warmer.....had a beautiful weekend so in 5 days ended up with an almost 8% patch. 😂 1 pint and I'm completely sozzled.
@KevinPughCM4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying it! If you haven't been drinking it over ice mixed with at least 1/3rd soda - give that a go. I prefer it that way and it slows the sozzle... if only slightly!

Hi bro. I have done brew. And i fermented 50 hrs. Can i now Bottle it and drink it ?
@KevinPughCM4 жыл бұрын
That sounds a little quick to me. I live in tropical Thailand and it is normally about 4 or 5 days to fully complete the ferment. Have a taste - if it is sweet at all then the fermentation is incomplete.

Can I use dried ginger? Can I also use dried ordinary yeast or should it be wine yeast?
