Hey Meg! I seen your tweet on Twitter with your pathway into cybersecurity. Is it common for people to enroll in a masters program that obtained a bachelors in an unrelated field? I am currently more than halfway done in my cybersecurity masters program trying to transition.

Very informative video on cybersecurity incident response! Your overview of the process from detection to post-mortem is clear and insightful. How do you prioritize incidents when multiple threats arise simultaneously? Thanks for sharing this valuable knowledge!

Girl at least you have your career sorted for you and you have your finances in hand as well ....... think of some of us here ...... a struggle to break in to the career with a lot of debt on own head but still we carry on even though we are burntout , depressed and frustrated ..... cause we have no option and no money to take breaks when burntout

Hi Meg. First of all, it's great content. I cannot NOT tell that. I'd like to ask your opinion on organizations like (ISC)2 & ISACA. It sounds like guild with the local chapters but I cannot actually see the benefit of having the membership. I have been a CISSP for some time and an active part of the local chapter. But still... I am not a part of ISACA community however I assume it is not that much different. Since the community is not the "Jedi council" it looks like from outside, I tend to let my certificates expire. What do you think about the community aspect of these organizations?

How would you compare this to things like THM learning paths for blue/soc or things like the BTL1 certification? Thanks!

It’s less hand holding than THM. BTL1 , to me, is more friendly and in between THM and Academy.

Very cool and almost exactly what I've been looking for. I got my CISSP a couple of years ago but all of my experience is in things like identity and access management and risk. I've really wanted to stretch into actually having a more technical understanding, but I haven't been sure where to start.

Jesus hit the nail on the head. However, starting too late from an education standpoint, I believe, is not the case. Education is more about DESIRE than anything else. I'm going to be a little more extreme. Colleges and universities here in the U.S., get an "F" many times for not meeting with corporations and truly LISTENING to their requirements. The question then becomes, are the higher education people not trying to meet the needs of our country's corporations because they do not understand the technologies? Could it be that the refusal of that college or university is based upon ego, and not wanting to learn a current or emerging technology that would allow students to succeed??? I would think that these "learned" people would understand that being a STUDENT is a life-long journey, if that indeed is the case. Another question is, is higher education not possibly wanting to invest in teaching a particular area because it might be too expensive? Example: there are not many colleges/universities teaching those things that have to do with "The Cloud." Is this being done purposely or by accident??? This is coming from a former educator. Schools on the primary and secondary level are not going full force on technology, because the education is liberal arts based, and it makes sense. English and math at this level is important for any future enveador (not everyone wants to be an I.T. Technology/Systems professional). Now there has been and will continue to be specialized schools that teach technology, however, not everyone has access or is admitted to those. I do agree, with those organizations outside of formal education that do a better job in training our people. For me, it comes down to HIGHER education doing its job in catalyzing students in relevant and creative directions. Case in point, just carefully examine those higher education students from the Asian, African and European Continents. Meg, don't you live in one of those?

So, you basically lied on your resume? I mean, I get your idea of listing your 'knowledge' of those in the certification's objectives... but the fact is, you were not certified.

Wonderful video, obrigado, Meg! I can relate to you so much! I also did my BA in Political Science and now I am getting into cybersecurity! (I did my MS in Clinical Psychology). I am in my second week into cybersecurity and I am finding it as fascinating, discernible and feasible as psychology! I am so enthusiastic and immersed in it! (Spending 12-14 hours a day on it) Can't wait to ace Comp TIA Security + in 6-12 months followed by Associate member status in the next 6-12 months down the line by passing CISSP. Are you by chance Portuguese or a speaker of Portuguese given the farewell greetings?! I am into my 19th day streak on Duolingo for Portuguese! Brazil sparked my interest in Portuguese and I'd like to work there and for that, I want to learn the language. Again, I am finding it super easy to pick unlike some other languages that I tried, it's like my lost home! As it is said to get into people's heart, you have to know their language. I love to explore and know different cultures and languages. Last but not the least, I look forward to connecting with you via email and Twitter! So grateful for your content, may Mars be the only limit for you in the field of cybersecurity! I am 26 years old but I believe, I have 50 more years ahead of me to keep learning as much as possible! Blessings to you 🙏🏻😇 Keep scintillating!! Kindest regards.
