While it may not seem like it to some, this is a very important topic for people in tech. Too often we let the job take over our lives at the expense of our mental and physical health. Seeing somebody in the field show that you can do the job while maintaining (or regaining) your health is very inspiring. Thank you, Meg, for having the courage to put your journey and success out there for all to see! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

That's very impressive, thanks for raising awareness about fitness and health. IT/cyber gets stressful, the burnout is real. I had to give up sports and other hobbies (which I never did in years) in order to focus on work. Glad you were confident posting the pics, when you feel energetic and happy in your own skin, others' negative opinions can do no harm :)

Congrats on a huge accomplishment! Covid has definitely not been friendly to my general weight. Losing out on hockey and then the gym I actually wound up enjoying was just a massive loss, and now I'm just looking back and thinking "I used to move so much more...". Oh well, small steps is what I've got now!

Great video and you should be proud of yourself. Shame is one of the biggest culprits in mental health and it often gets overlooked. Only recently have people started talking about it more and bringing it to the surface. I can tell you from personal experience, the thing that I worked on the most to help with my shame is learning to forgive my former self. I really had to learn that I was just a different person, that that version of me was going through some shit. I was not in a healthy place mentally and it was reflected in my appearance and self-destructive behaviors. I was fortunate enough to find a good therapist that really helped me dig deep, and really tried to help me identify my shame. It's extremely hard to do, but if you can get into those deep places in your mind it can be freeing. I'm sure with time you'll be able to forgive your former self and let go of the shame. You'll have spent enough time in your new self that you'll realize the older version of you was someone in pain and you had to endure that to get to your current state. Good luck in keeping it off, it won't be easy. It's been a couple years for me and I've kept most of it off, but definitely have had some ups and downs. But, as you've learned weight loss and transformation is not linear. What you've done so far is nothing short of amazing, congrats.

Happy that you are happy! I did struggle with weight loss, weight gain and diet-hell for many years. I can now keep my weight at a comfortable level and what did the change for me was intuitive eating and especially a healthy and plant based lifestyle. I allow myself to cheat whenever I feel like it, but I found that when you're happy, you don't need that many sweets. And of course exercise is an important part of weight loss, but for me it was crucial to find a sport that was fun, rather than one that burned many calories. This is just my experience, I hope it might help some of you for inspiration :)

Wow, this is amazing! I went through a similar thing in my 20s and lost a bunch of weight. Then I gained it back... and lost it again... and gained some back again. So, it can be a journey and you have to be vigilant sometimes to keep it off. Good luck to you. You look great!

My wife and I would get in sync as far as putting on a little weight then losing it, 20 year anniversary on May 18th. Unfortunately I lost her on June 13 and literally going thru lifes motions but im going for a triathlon in Austin in her memory. Weight loss is definitely a personal journey and can be incredibly rewarding for you. Yes, its great to get the looks and what not but you just feel overall better:) best of luck and great channel for cyber security

That is fantastic. I find small things like lowering portion size and just going for a walk once a day make a huge difference. I sit most of my day and my body has never really felt the effects of that until i gained more weight, but as i have lost some of it I definitely notice sitting down doesn't bother me.. I say all of this as i finish a bag of chips and polish off my snacks from a party and gaining 3 pounds this past week lol.

aw shucks, thank you so much! no ma’am, i’ve never counted a calorie in my life. i’ve just never felt that it’s realistic for my lifestyle, or really any lifestyle. i just try to be cognizant when i am choosing what is going inside of my body, and that’s really it. and smaller portions! and knowing that if i eat something that will make me feel bloated or crummy, that i should offset it by eating something that will make me feel strong and fueled!
