Since it doesn't use carbon rods I assume you could try, it's not specifically said by the designer, but you can probably try it and see how you go, You'd probably have to make sure you have a big enoguh printer cause scaling the parts could result in much larger pieces and since it's designed for vase mode splitting them may not work You'll also need to design siemthing for servo holders

@ I don’t think any of those will be an issue for me. I just have a spare 70mm QX motor edf and I’m looking for a cheap, simple, fun project to use it for. They aren’t the greatest edf’s in the world so I don’t want to use it on a more expensive build. What edf are you using in yours? Looked like an XFly

what slicer you use I got a bambu slicer how much infill you use.
@locarshobbies13 күн бұрын
Hey, Eclipson designs don't use infill in most of their profiles because they design the entire thing including the internal structures, in fact, this is what makes them very compatible with vase mode it's a lot more work for the designer, but the result is a great model! IN their site they have the parameters you need to use for the model :) Good luck if you decide to print it

I was thinking about building the hornet, but 40 bucks is a heavy price. would you say it was worth it and there is no big design flaws?
@locarshobbies13 күн бұрын
It prints very well, the use of heat set inserts are quite nice, $40 is a bit of money sure, but TD is one of those design houses that actually do a lot of testing prior to selling and the end product in my opinion is solid! :) good luck with your build if you decide to go for it. the use of pre-foamed pla as per their advise i think is the only thing letting them down, i think this has something to do with not having to design for least retractions, and just rely on generated infill

You can use Chanel 5 on the RX just assign it to Chanel 5.
@locarshobbiesАй бұрын
Elrs has a limitation on channel 5 where it's only 900 or 1950 pwm as it's designed for flight controller as the arming signal only I know some people have been able o modify that channel but info is sketchy
@locarshobbiesАй бұрын
So yes it can be used for on or off applications like landing gear retracts but not as a control servo where you need fine grained control
@monami5201Ай бұрын
@@locarshobbies sorry it should have said assign ch5 on RX to ch6 when setting up the RX and it works fine. I set a logical switch on the tx to arm channel 5 if the tx battery is above the minimum voltage so in theory when I fly ch5 is always armed and just set a switch as the throttle arming switch. If that all makes sense to you.
@locarshobbies12 күн бұрын
Hey yeah, it does make sense, but, essentially for a fixed wing that doesn't use flight controllers, it kinda limits ch5 functionality being only on or off, this really only need AETR, or at most AL E T R AR where i can put AR on CH6, just ttoally bypassing ch5, no need to muck around with it for this model
@monami520112 күн бұрын
@@locarshobbies THats right just forget about channel 5 after all these transmitters are generally all 16 channel and if you run them in 8 channel mode then there’s still 7 to play with. In the old days we only had 4 and if we were rich we had a 6 channel set, so what we had today is luxury.

The elevator sensitivity might be because the C of G might be a bit too far back. Try adding just a little bit of nose weight and see if things settle. Beautiful sky for a fullsize glider pilot 👍
@locarshobbiesАй бұрын
The cg was set as per the designers mark, I mean it wasn't too bad I've had way way worse In the second flight she I increased the expo to 40% and the tiniest bit more forward of the cg marks (like no more than 1mm) cause of the 4s and yeah she flew absolutely well so i think it's solid now I flew her again yesterday on the same setup and she was just rock solid Thanks for watching 👍
@mikeonb4cАй бұрын
@@locarshobbies I wondered if the 4s might have moved the cg forward a tad. Whether that and/or the differential improved things, gliders and aerobatic machines are tricky regarding cg position as the designer may often want them to be more sensitive to lifting air (gliders) and more neutral for stuff like inverted flight. But this can make for pitch instability which can make handling unpleasant and landings more tricky esp with a clean airplane that has no airbrakes or flaps. Seemed to fly great on the second flight though 👍👍
@ChookHendoАй бұрын
What a great looking model. Nice demo. I have always run 80% expo and full rates on all my control surfaces. This gives me great finesse around centre stick and I always have full throws available if needed.
@locarshobbiesАй бұрын
Hi thanks for watching... Personally I like to have the model setup mechanically then using expo (where possible I try to not exceed 50) but hey, that's just me! There are many ways to skin a cat (or setup a plane haha) Thanks again for watching and the engagement I appreciate it
@alexisscott9573Ай бұрын
GREAT VIDEO CARLO, as a big fan of the Fox and its single seat brother the Swift, this looks the goods, I'm wondering if you could move cg just a tiny amount further forward to help dampen that pitch stability a fraction, did cg mave when you went to 4s? it certainly looked better when running the 4s
@locarshobbiesАй бұрын
Thanks Alexis, when I used the 4s it also moved the cg slightly forward by about 1 to 2mm (I could have put the battery back a bit more but didn't have additional velcro at the field) It did certainly give better pitch stability but I also increased the expo to 40% so I cant really tell you whether it's due to the forward cg OR the expo or maybe a bit of both I flew her again today, moving the control rod up to a higher hole on the servo horn, increased rates and she flies even better! I can't wait to slope this amazing airframe But yeah I'm the same the moment I found out eclipaon was releasing the fox I already decided I was gonna get it haha

Hey mate, my bad, ive been off the YT recently, so much going on! i realised your comment came 2 weeks ago and i haven't responded, MY APOLOGIES!!! So, in all honesty, i am NOT really a huge fan of pre-foamed LW-pla, i get the idea for sure, but yeah, i think for the additional stringing that it does, it doesn't give that much weight benefit (i beleive in my prints they are only about 80% the weight of normal PLA+ If im really going to give it a red hot go, i will use foaming LW PLA, at least with the increased difficulty of printing it, the weight differences are huge!!! BUt hey, let me know ify ou got any more questions im more than happy to help :)

Nice review and bravely flown. Packs down well so would make a good travel model. My landings, in those slope conditions, tend to be "controlled arrivals" ;-) How did it bear up on the landing please?
@locarshobbies2 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! I'm quite lucky that the landing area at lonsdale is quite generous unlike most slopes, and some really nice long grass to gently stop the model She landed well, no damage whatsoever! I should have taken a video of the post landing state I will make sure to do that on future videos The fuse in pla+ can take a slight besting and it's designed strong, but the wings printed in lw pla might not take too kindly... The counter point is that it's not a big print to re make 👍
