I like how you explain a lot and even say what you buy because sometimes I'm doing stuff while listening and also my phone screen is not the biggest. Also I have some questions. I am thinking about buying the game, but I have only wi-fi on satellite internet to play this game on. Will wi-fi satellite internet work in multi-player since it is turned based? If the game crashes, can you resume multiple games? Is the single player ai challenging? Is there a big multi-player player base? Any other things I should know before buying this for a ten year old laptop? Thanks :)
@bonkcc_4 күн бұрын
1. This game should work on satellite internet, the multiplayer is not too intensive for an internet connection. If the game crashes you can simply pick up from your last action, as the game saves your every move. 2. You can play multiple online games at a time, single player games against bots and create custom games for both online and offline multiplayer. 3. The single player AI is good practising dummy for beginners, but I wouldn't say it is challenging once you get a good idea on the gameplay and tactics. I think the AI for the Axis team is slightly more difficult than the Allies. 4. I'd say there is a decently sized player base. Queuing for an online Axis game will take slightly longer than the Allies, since Axis is a more popular choice and it easier to win as the Axis, in my opinion. 5. Your 10 year old laptop should be just fine running this game. Axis & Allies 1942 Online is not an intensive game to run. Note: Players who participate in online matchmaking have 24 hours to take their turn. These online games can take multiple days and maybe even weeks to complete depending on when both players take their turns. I'm done shilling for Beamdog. No I'm not a paid actor nor paid, but I'm open to an advertising position within the company. 🤣

Maybe this is me and my personal bias speaking since I always played Japan a lot back in the day and I feel most comfortable with them of any country in A&A, but as a gold-tier axis player I let out a HUGE sigh of relief when I see the allies going KJF. It has the inherent flaws of A) Japan is inherently weaker, so while easier to kill in theory it also means that Germany left to rampage unchecked is more dangerous than an unchecked Japan, and B) Japanese cap being on an island means any invasion force has to be entirely carried by transports or supplemented by A LOT of aircraft, both are expensive and take time in addition to being further from your own industries making your supply line of unit place to unit going into combat much longer. An experienced Japan player can see the KJF usually before their first turn and can start appropriately spamming infantry and destroyers. As a primarily axis player, I just really feel that KGF is the superior strategy in almost every circumstance.
@bonkcc_17 күн бұрын
I completely agree mate. KGF is standard in most games that I do. Yeah when I play axis I can usually tell when it is KJF, and I feel great knowing my Germany will steamroll with no issues. I think I'm decent at defending KJFs myself, I can delay for 5-7 rounds on a good day, which is plenty of time for Germany. If he had not messed up, this could of been quite a decent late game with UK & USA Vs GER. I going for more KJFs, to improve my strategy and it's actually quite fun taking out Japan. A late game KJF can be quite entertaining as well.

Ok, I had a game with Allies, where I strafed Ukraine on 1st Round leaving only the Fighter there and retreated with 3 tanks and 1 art. My question is this right move? I heard you have to strafe it instead of taking it most times, depending on results, but this is literally the theoretical best outcome to strafe and I still think it was a weak move. This fighter gone for the Germans will ease pressure on UK early naval building, also capturing Ukraine force them to attack with at least few units there instead of focusing north. Idk, IPC wise Fighter is 10 + 2 for capturing Ukraine + let's say 2 infantry lost (+6) totaling 18 IPC benefit if you capture the region versus 3 tanks and 1 art - totaling 21 IPC if retreating (if you have less troops remaining it is even more meaningless to retreat). Basically both options have almost identical IPC effect for USSR and Germany but the Germans seem to be in much better spot if they decide to harrass UK or to amass Airforce anywhere.
@bonkcc_26 күн бұрын
Recently my stance on strafing Ukraine is on the fence. I am currently playing an Allies game and I had a 1art 3 tanks left Ukraine strafe and chose to retreat leaving my opponent with a tank and fighter. His G1 he wipped out West Russia with 2 tanks left, baring in mind my West Russia result was the best I achieved this season with 1 infantry lost. Which completely negated my excellent R1. He got lucky, but despite that I think taking Ukraine is vital on a Russian standard. Unless I approached it wrong or I just got unlucky myself. Someone let me know. You'll see video evidence soon of what I'm talking about. You make a very good arguement. However, I don't think the cost difference/gain matters because I now think Ukraine is imperative to take R1 since it protects WR, stops a Ukraine stack most cases and denies Germany trading Caucasus. Even if Russia takes heavier losses in Ukraine, as a strategic holding, it far superior to take the territory. As I found out first hand on my game against Cagey Viking, it's catastrophic if Germany can take Caucasus round 1.

What does placement mean?
@bonkcc_27 күн бұрын
When you play an online ranked game against an opponent, both the Axis and Allies teams seperately have to play 5 games before they achieve their rank for either team. So 5 ranked games for Axis, and 5 ranked games for Allies. I call them placement games, since they are ranked games counting towards my competitive rank. It is a simular system to more popular games like Rainbow 6 Siege, CSGO and Valorent if this helps haha.
@RR-jz9sw28 күн бұрын
Posting this not to rag on you or troll or anything, but for improving your game play going forward. G3, did you really need to kill the UK AC? You clearly got extremely unlucky, that is not in dispute, but did you need to risk anything at all?. That entire G3 turn seemed insanely risky. 3 different attacks that you said all needed a hit in round 1. What are the chances of getting three first round hits? 2. you made it very clear that the 2 fighters were vital to killing Russia is it worth risking them at all, especially when you could have added them to those other two attacks on Russia that 'need' round 1 hits? 3. What is the value of that AC to UK if you keep laser focused on killing Russia, is UK having that AC going to give Russia a greater boost to their Defense then having your 2 fighter contributes to their offense? 4. You got tilted right? After you lost the first fighter, what did your odds become then? And considering those odds, did it make sense to hail Mary a single fighter against the AC? This isn't rhetorical, I am in no way and A&A expert, I play a similar tabletop game where stacking odds is the point and bad luck is super swingy. A big portion of that game is knowing when taking the 98% to 2% is furthering your objectives or just a 2% to lose the game for no gain. From the way you talked in game it sounded to me like you took a 2% to lose attack power for no gain. But I think only you in hindsight can review if this was the right move or not. Cheers and may the odds ever be in your favor!!
@bonkcc_28 күн бұрын
Thanks for the insight. Not sure if this is a simple conversation even with hindsight, since the topic is on luck. Completely chaotic. 1. Not something I ever consider, since as far as I'm concerned all battles are seperate entities. There are no parameter as far as I'm aware, that if I let's say miss 2 first rounds hits in a row, I will then have an increased chance to hit the next one. 2. Probably not worth risking at all, however I accounted for loss just in case by buying a bomber. 3. The value is that if I can take out the AC, then the UK is forced to invest in even more resources into an Atlantic navy if they want to trade with Germany. Which both the UK down, and affects his ability to perform more cost effective buys across the UK and India. Like increasing his airforce as an example, which is something a UK loves to do. 4. Odds went from a 94.9% to a 49.8% to win, his odds went from a 2.3% to a 24.9% to win. Personally I like those odds, in this example it's not even a big gamble, so I don't know. It's personal preference. It was just my playstyle at the time. Last season I was very conservative, I'm trying to open up to more riskier options to see if that can give me more of an edge in games against more experienced players. But, what I'm saying here is irrelevent since it's on the topic of luck, and for this example I just didn't get a good hand. It can be argued that it cost me the game. To answer your first question: No I really didn't need to kill the AC. It was competely optional. 🙂
@iquabakaner29 күн бұрын
I would argue it's the heavy tank buys that lost you the game. It might not be intuitive but infantry is always better than tanks. Always. 2 infantry (on attack) vs 1 tank is 54.7:37.9 odds. That's not even considering the main function of infantry - to act as meatshield for the heavy hitters. The only advantage a tank has is its mobility (and in rare cases, you have too much IPC but not enough building cap), and if you're not utilizing that, you don't need to buy a single tank.
@bonkcc_29 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I understand. A reason why I was getting tanks in the first place was because of their movement. Since I went for the Ukraine stack, I was unable to utilise Karelia as a deployment zone for Infantry. I was on the clock because of Japan being on a timer, so I might of been slightly more impatient with my German progression towards Moscow. So instead of the slower play with infantry I opted for tanks. I probably should of done full infanty buys for the first 4-5 rounds then invested in tanks for the finishing blow. They do say Infantry are the best unit in the game. However, if I had achieved an average result for the West Russia battle, I think I can confidently say Moscow would of fallen.

bombing is way too inefficient unless you're going to some stupid green skies 3 us bombers/turn then it doesn't matter if you lose bombers. in general, i still think allies are at a disadvantage. too easy for germany to spam inf/art to trade with starting fighters while japan cleans up asia. us should be given ~2-4 more IPC to start to really put axis on a timer and not let them stall out since it is more likely they win quick than allies
@bonkcc_Ай бұрын
Yes it is quite inefficient, but I'm giving strat-bombings a second chance this season. I'm not to sure with the balancing of this version, personally I have an easier time with Axis. I think I read a while back that on average Axis have a higher win percentage than Allies. Roughly 54% I think, take this with a pinch of salt though, most likely hearsay. It's not perfectly balanced, but I don't think it's as simple as your putting it though, a 3-nation KJF will always bring a Japan to it's knees and initiate a UK/USA vs GER late-game, on average of course. In fact, a 2-4 IPC boost for the USA could probably tip the scales in the Allies favor a little too much. It might change the entire dynamic of allies playstyle, from a KGF being the standard approach to a game to a KJF lol. I will say the Allies rely heavily on round 1's outcome.
