I have used my new bike, a CB500F, for a bit of off road and didn't have issues so far (gravel, wet gravel mud roads, sand) thought I would need another bike to do such things, I love my bike and this video gives me hope that Im not that crazy! Thinking to change the tires to handle the gravel and such more safely, any opinions ? What about not being able to turn off ABS ? Any other modifications that can be helpful ? Thank you!

Great overview. Did you ever change any of them with hand tool trail side, and if so, which was easier to deal with?
@MotoCampAdventure3 ай бұрын
Thankfully I never had to but I can imagine it would be incredibly difficult. Also these specific tires are discontinued as far as I know.

Absolutely wrong choice of tires! You drive on the road and not on gravel roads!

That was where I learned how to counter steer. It was written in a manner that just made sense to me. (The motorcycle license guide spoke of pushing the opposite handle in a manner that made zero sense)

so i feel like lane splitting is just super dangerous! I'm super new to riding though!
@MotoCampAdventure5 ай бұрын
It can be if done at unsafe speeds and if you're not on your game. Unfortunately my last accident was while lane splitting and there was simply nothing I could have done to predict that a driver was going to aggressively make a lane change with zero notice. Usually you can tell when someone driving a car is going to make a lane change by how they start drifting towards the lane a bit, even without a turn signal. Bay area traffic is simply dangerous as a whole, but lane splitting can actually be statistically safer for the rider. On the other hand, I have zero doubt that lane filtering is safer for everyone involved.

A little thread locker can help to stop any mirror from rotating. But then they will likely break in some way when the get hit during a tip over as they will not spin on the threads a bit. On a Honda Transalp the mirror mounts will break yet have no marking or damage to the mirror, and new lever perches will need to be replaced. Ask me how I know. LOL

hey bud, just discovered your channel because Im researching about the same gloves. Happy you are ok from that crash, which gloves do you use now ? Cheers !
@MotoCampAdventure9 ай бұрын
Hey! If I need a short cuff glove for summer riding or off-roading, I'm a huge fan of my REV'IT! Sand 3s. My friends have the 4s and love them too. In terms of a longer gauntlet glove for road riding, I really liked my Held Airstream 3s. I haven't personally found a reliable waterproof glove. If you need waterproof, I think having a waterproof cover will work better than goretex gloves. edit: these BMW gloves have changed probably a few generations. I've found that a lot of the BMW gear was kind of iffy at best. I'd guess any of the BMW branded gloves manufactured by Held will probably work well (e.g. their 2-in-1 glove).

Cyclops LED : ONE STAR ONLY. About their attitude : I had to rate my >>negative review<< 5 stars on Cyclops website to have it published. Less than 4 stars and the administrator will not publish your comment. I tried before so I can testify. This is just dishonest business!!! About their bulb : I had a Cyclops H4 Ultra on my CRF250L 2018. Very bright but died after one year only. The driver (black box) was much too hot, I couldn't even touch it. The bulb started to flicker (driver too hot??) then died shortly after. 90$ for only one year of use ?? I replaced it with a Novsight 12000 lumen LED bulb for a quarter of the price. 3 years since and zero problem. Driver is not even warm. Very bright and nice cutoff patterns same as Cyclops, and I have one extra bulb as spare (Novsight is sold by pair). Cyclops is not worth the price (90$) for ONE bulb. There is better options out there. Think before you spend $$$ with Cyclops. Novsight is a much cheaper/better alternative. Just my 10 cents.

For the full kit (with the arm and the ball mount)? If so that's a steal. At that point it's worth determining if your ok with buying from someone who's likely stealing intellectual property at that point. Zero judgement to anyone who buys that.

I have a '12 F800GS and I just broke a mirror. It broke at that "sacrificial" collet piece that mounts in the handlebar. It's a BMW part so it's not cheap, but it's still less than the Double Takes. I really thought hard about buying the Double Takes, but in the end decided to just fix the OEMs. I mean, I don't dislike my mirrors. They aren't round so they have some of that benefit of elongated mirrors that you were talking about. I also didn't know that the Double Takes get loose after a while. That's disappointing. I don't know, my OEM mirrors have never moved (except when I crashed and it hit the ground). Not sure I'll be in a hurry to get the Double Takes.
@MotoCampAdventure Жыл бұрын
I would just keep using OEM if they don't come loose on you and never look back (pun?). The doubletakes only really move if you're using a bike cover.

Honestly, it's all pretty basic. Stay really hydrated, eat when you're hungry (snack often with nutritious snacks like dried fruits and beef jerky), take breaks in the shade, and find the most comfortable camping gear because sleep is maybe the most valuable part of it all.
