I think I found the phonebrand to use after my current one dies. (Not going to create more artifical electronic waste just to get a new phone.)

I think one thing that could benefit fairphone is if you guys offer something different design-wise compared to other companies. That way you will not get compared in the same light... These days, there are barely any small phones left on the market. I would've loved if you guys made something like that. I still hate the fact that phones are so big these days that I can barely have them in my pocket when sitting down or cycling. I'm not really conserned about the thickness but rather the massive real estate of the modern phone screens. Phones have really just become waaaay too wide and tall these days... I could see myself using something with the same footprint as an iPhone4 or iPhone6. But those kind of phones barely exist anymore.

You are not taking up the fair criticism, instead of that you are saying smartphone is only for emails and calls. When linux is saying about some improvements as a smartphone. As comparing these phones are also not cheap either

Fairphone will go up key points to consider 1. EU regulations. 2. Sustainability. 3. Latest amoled panels. 4. Metal removable back panel. 5. Latest chipset and camera.

Lack of headphone jack means the charging port is over-used and breaks early. Bad design and bad business.

Poor design this part should not be failing so quickly. To restore and retain brand loyalty fairphone should send this replacement part out without charge with a card apologising for the inconvenience and explaining how they have improved the design on subsequent models. Why would I ever get a fairphone 5 or future model if this model has such a basic and predictable flaw?

If Fairfone wants their next phone to be more competitive and sell more, they need to raise capital so they can grow their R&D department and spend more on buying and/or developing better components. An easily repairable phone is brilliant but it needs to be more like the competition regarding performance. Weight and dimensions aren't as important as a competitive screen, processor, camera, battery life. An SD slot is a game changer for iPhone users. I HATE paying Apple's insane markup for more storage.

Whatever may be the nitpicking in terms of benchmarking, I would still want phone company basing its competive advantage on repairability rather than mindlessly developing glass sandwich phone that becomes a brick after a few years or shell out quite a bit to the same company for repair. It's all about tradeoffs right. I want this India in fact. Really looking forward to buying it if it's available here.

I had no idea the mission you guys have and what you are doing until today I saw jerry rigs video. My next phone will be a fairphone 5, I was planning on oneplus 12 but I cannot turn my back on something ACTUALLY consumer AND enviromentally friendly. I know we have the law coming in 2027 but that law does not say anything about sourcing cobalt the correct way, which you guys do, and seeing that little DCR mark on your phone is powerful

wireless charging is useless. It overheats the battery and it's inefficient for charging tbh.

On my trip in China I needed wechat and a chinese sim card. I had to switch my simcard to verify, while being online on Wechat and if I had a fairphone 5, this wouldn't have been possible. Try making it on the outside. I am considering this year on buying a new phone, possibly a fairphone, if some of the things can be resolved...

I would really like to get on my fairphone 5 the stock camera experience on my lineageos (and i guess other users for other custom roms) is it possible to release the fairphone stock camera as a apk or flashable zip to add it to any OS? I would be very grateful

If I can get a proper response to my concerns here I promise I'll run out and buy a Fairphone 5 immediately, regardless of what the response is. I don't care at all about most of the stuff Linus looks at like problems. They mostly seem trivial. 1. Wireless charging is inefficient, BUT very useful and I use it every day. It could easily be integrated in the rear cover, and I hope you'll consider it. It's nearly a deal breaker, but I can get an adaptor for now. 2. Will you promise to keep working on what you can improve with software, based on customer feedback, for the duration of the support cycle? Not just keep it working, but keep improving it (like the volume thing, that seems really annoying)? 3. Truly ethical manufacturing in China isn't possible. It's just not. Even if you make sure the workers are treated and paid well, any taxes they or the manufacturers pay, WILL support an awful and suppressing regime. There are other nations that will manufacture a phone. Whilst I don't expect you to directly comment on the Chinese government, I hope you'll keep considering how you can improve the fairness in the manufacturing, not only considering the environment. I love your ideas and commitment, but there are still improvements to be made. That said, this is the only phone I'm willing to pay this price for.

I like this product a lot, but there are things I don't like you could fix easily. The controll knob is great and I love the simplicity but it has some drawbacks: Sometimes it takes several attempts to turn it off because it just doesn't react. Also when I throw it into my bag, it turns on very easily and doesn't turn off after some minutes. It already happened to me a few times that I had to go on trips without music because it was on over night and was empty on the next day. I think that's a really easy software update and I hope you'll do that someday. Also a "find my headphones" Function would be great.

I just want a regular pair of bluetooth earbuds that Sound Good with replaceable batteries and touch volume controls on the buds themselves. Why is this so hard?! 😭 I don't want or need a built-in microphone to collect my data, or noise canceling features that erode battery life or another useless app taking up space/memory on my phone while collecting data just to check the charge when it should show charge level in the phones status bar or any of these other goofy touch features.
