If the penalties for exploiting aren't harsh enough then it just encourages doing it again in the future.

Let's make private auras and at the same time design mechanics who are hell to solve without a weakaura... If the solution to a mechanic isn't a weakaura it shouldn't be some annoying or degenerate thing either. For example the smolderon orbs instead of a weakaura making assignments u want what? The raidlead calling people 1 by 1 to soak them for 4 hours straight while playing the game himself? In which world would this solution be better than a weakaura?

This isnt even a super creative bug or anything. At the creation of psychic link some dev says: "yo hold up what if we make it so that it links damage you deal to others?" And a natural question would be "what if you damage a low level mob and crit really high?" But i guess none plays the game to asks those questions :D

Why is it that you are so quick to decide what is the strategy and what is something that invalidates the run? Are critters in dungeons and new thing? Did they use a third-party software in order to get this done? They used what blizzard gave them to their advantage. Seems like people are more salty because they didn’t think of it first.

I am not in favor of bans as there isn't anything that creates an unfair advantage in terms of a major competition (i.e: race to world first). I would just remove their completion for that run (remember, it is all just rows of data in a DB) and fix the bug. Some of these exploits are such insane edge cases that I, as an engineer, can't help but applaud their absolutely degeneracy. This is technically not an exploit because it is using the spell AS INTENDED. The issue here is how scaling works, it is just an oversight on Blizzard's end. This is like being mad if a mage could spell steal some sort of ability that causes them to get like 100% haste for the whole run. It is an oversight on Blizzard's end. A proper bannable exploit would be negating an entire boss's mechanic by somehow glitching yourself in such a way tht regular play wouldn't allow for it. As in, you had to go out of your way to break it. This is just using the spec's mechanics.

When you said ragefire got fixed in 20 minutes, and then when psychic link got reported and didnt get fixed. I laughed so hard because it just confirmed they dont give a shit about shadow priest. I know this is all pve content but i'm a pvp'r and they wont fix literally anything wrong with shadow priest in pvp. So i had a laugh thanks.

This isn't a bannable offense or an exploit. Its cheese, for sure, but Psychic Link is working as intended, and the liability is on Blizzard for adding critters into the dungeons without considering this possibility. The players obviously did not go 'out of their way' in doing this (duh, the critters are right next to the trash and bosses). Blizzard should thank them for finding the bug and remove the runs from the leaderboard. Your strong views on banning players for these kinds of 'opportunities' are harsh and misplaced. I can see that others here agree that banning is inappropriate. If I were you, I would consider how your opinions might be a turn off for some of your viewers.

Weakauras solving mechanics doesn’t really happen in M+, more often dungeon weakauras are just a bunch of debuff icons. Really seems like they just want to put private auras in just for the sake of putting them in

Kind of tragic when the desire to win become stronger than the desire to win fairly. Because what is the point of winning, if you need to cheat to win? The moment the decision to cheat is made the win has absolutely no meaning and you just became a pathetic loser in the eyes of the rest of the competitive landscape. Pushing the boundaries is ofc natural in order to try and get an edge at the very highest on the ladder, but something like this is clearly over the line.

I really think they should find a way to incorporate and reuse the old good seasonals. My current idea is at keystones 2-10 you have a rotation of good seasonals, so one week it's reaping and the next it's encrypted and than since that shit's never going to even be close to balanced it just goes away at a +10 or maybe slightly higher but the idea is you can have these really fun affixes down in the area where people are farming for gear and than when you go up to high end competitive style keys you don't have to worry about the balance implications. This would also allow them to easily throw a new seasonal style affix into the pool and if it sucked at most you'd only have to deal with it on some weeks and never in a super high key.

Seeing Blizzards track record on what mechanics they put on private auras in the past I don't trust them to not do something stupid here. Their whole game has been held together by the community so making them not be able to fix Blizzards stupid game design decisions generally goes poorly.

I think the torghast people deserve bans. But the critter stuff doesn’t rise to that level. The critters are actually, intentionally in the dungeon. This is 10000% blizzard’s fault. If you don’t want to deal with weird stuff, don’t include them. If you want them there aesthetically, don’t give them a health bar. This is purely a blizzard issue

I would say, 1 week ban and removal of the last two weeks of mythic plus progression - for each group the shadow participated at - is a fair deal

Don't ban them. Reintroduce necrotic to those group. Stacking and undispellable as soon as they zone into any raid or dungeon. And make it infectious to everyone they play with.

It’s a game who cares. I mean fix the bugs yeah, but I’m not going to villainize someone and call them a piece of shit for using an “exploit” that anyone else could have used.

I would see this as the same as snapping mobs, it is the same principle, you kind of abuse of the fact that mob can be "teleported" to have them packed and done together to "save" time. This is not even using external power, they just use a talent of priest (not only priest works on this apparently according to WOWHEAD post) and therefore it is more of a blizzard issue of not scaling those critters, they should have fixed it when it was reported long ago, but now that they have realized people are actually using to time keys that fast, then it is an issue. Still believe they shouldnt be punished in game, rather get their run nremoved so they would still have to work hard to get the same run again but with no extra SP damage. That would allow you to see the real gamers...XD

I blame Blizzard more than anyone. It's beyond asinine that they don't fix these bugs before even going live, let alone letting them linger *after* being reported on live. Just look at MoP remix right now and the frog farming controversy. They just don't care anymore and it's beyond evident.

Let's be honest, abusing ingame stuff has literally become so stupid, you can always argue that stuff lays somewhere between "cool stuff" or "abusing exploits" - Blizzard actually removed Snaps back in BfA, because they didn't want it to happen - WHAT happened? Oh true, Snapping so much and calling it "nice strat". Liquid literally had people talent into bugged talents ABUSING bugs so they could have more dps in awakened vault first week. Do they get banned? No they dont, because "well its liquid, they would have killed it anyway" - what is this argumentation? either its abusing bugs and its bannable regardless of who does it, in mdi / great push / race to world first or whereever. obviously it's not intended to work that critters interact with the key giving an easier time, but that was already in shadowlands the same with people using spider sacks or mushrooms to fill the soul cages up in Halls of Atonement. You cant say "well its clever use of game mechanic" on the one hand, but on the other "yeah, that's so stupid, it should be banned" - mythic+ on the highest level sadly is just about finding abuses (another one weyrnstone on brackenhide 2nd boss, so lets ban everyone doing high keys) its not an exploit if u dont have to do anything to achieve it. that thing you highlighted in the video is a bug, happening in the game - on the same level as bugged talents doing more dmg than they should or using weyrnstone to negate a boss ability in bracken.

I personally think a ban is not necessary at all. Make the exploit go away. Remove the runs and move on. No harm done

I suppose Blizzard have often had a generous line between "Exploit" and "Clever Use of Game Mechanics", so down to them to determine what they consider this to be. That said, I do believe that if players are found to be exploiting in M+, they should have all M+ achievements and rewards for that season removed from their account - don't just take the 1% title, but the other title and mount as well - and make that account wide stripping and ineligible to get them for the rest of the season. Then if they're found to do it again, life ban /shrug

totally agree with this move as the Weak Auras have literally made it to easy... Mythic raiding should be hard and mechanics like this should be dealt with on the FLY by the Team..not a bloody addon :) although i do use it and i find it very helpfull... but for things like worlds first kills private auras in Mythic should be utilised

This video is becoming more and more true. Currently sitting at 3400 rio on my warrior in S4. My Class/Spec is simply invisible to the majority of the player base. I have even watched a group disband today instead of just inviting me because they were keen on getting that evoker as a 3rd dps spot. Going to reroll next season..
