What a fantastic and beautiful use of the sweet gum seed pods. I have two sweet gum trees and have a great abundance of these pesky things. The only plus is that there is a flock of peachy colored sparrows that comes every year to eat the seeds that shake out of them. Otherwise I love my trees but I'd be happy to live without these beastie balls. You put them to magnificent use.

I think it's amazing and way too cool! 👍😊♥️ Growing up, my grandmother had a sweet gum tree and I absolutely loved these Sweet Gumballs. As a wee little girl I would turn them into Christmas ornaments by gluing toothpicks in the holes, painting them, and then sprinkle with glitter. As an adult, I absolutely hate them falling in my yard from the neighbor's tree especially since I am no longer physically able to maintain my yard like I used to. The gumballs fall everywhere and the growth rate of Sweet gum trees is darn near uncontrollable just like a bad weed.😄 Anyway, I think you did a totally beautiful job with this. NOT CREEPY AT ALL! The colors are very pretty but since one of my favorite colors falls along the vibrant tones of fuchsia, I would love to see this in some form of that shade. The one you made here catches flashes of that color but the different flashes of colors in it reminds me of the Northern lights. It's a very beautiful piece. I would be extremely proud if I were able to make something this beautiful. ♥️♥️♥️ I've always loved the IDEA of woodworking but never had a place such as a garage or basement where I could set up shop. You are very talented and skilled. Thank you for sharing! 😍

Witch burrs! I’m a witch and I frequently use sweet gum burrs (or witch burrs as they’re also known) in protection spells, among other workings. Witches tend to get attached to plants they use frequently and I am fond of these little guys. Glad to see someone else use them to make something beautiful. It turned out amazing!

I wanna get into wood working/turning SO BAD, but dear lord - lathes are EXPENSIVE and that BEFORE you buy any of the carving tools. 😢 Any tips on finding anything secondhand?

It can be pretty expensive if you try and get it all at once. Definitely recommend trying to find a used lathe. Estate sales can be a great place to find a good one cheap. Just have to be patient. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a wonderful day. Scott

I appreciate art and stuff, but this is and was a waste of fifteen minutes of time for me and a waste of hours of time for the artist. To each their own as they say. Heirlooms are mostly beautiful only to the heirs.😂 it’s almost like having a relic in your personal possession, but not quite as personal. Very few people cherish relics but they love heirlooms.😊 Making art from nature is supposed to make me feel all fuzzy, I guess? It didn’t work.😊

5:52 Would it be better to let it harden under reduced pressure? I thought the bubbles would be smaller if I let it return to normal pressure before letting it harden.
