Brilliant work in one of the cleanest shops I have ever seen. I also have a shop that’s pretty regimented and organized. I take all kinds of flack from friends and relatives over it. I never spend a second wonder how to find something. Your segment talents are great. I do many but no one wants to pay for them. .

Wow! My friend you are inspiring and do some amazing work! Your creativity is endless, finish is superb and humility honest. How do you like those Simple carbides and in particular that captive hollowing system? How deep are you comfortable going with it? Stay safe and thanks again.
@squareandlevelАй бұрын
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate the kind words! I really like the simple woodturning carbide tools. I purchased the hollowing system and round carbide tool before reaching out to them. The tools are high end. Work great and just feel good in your hands. Especially with the long padded handles. As far as reach for the hollowing system, I feel comfortable the full length of the tool (apex. 9 inches). I know they recently came out with longer tools but unfortunately I have not gotten them yet, tho I’m sure they would work great. I do have the flat tool rests they offer and they also add even more stability to the hollowing system. I mainly purchased the hollower for the laser system. As a person recovered from two back surgeries I prefer to bend over as little as possible. The laser guider really helps with determining wall thickness without constantly bending over. I do have to say this is the only hollowing system I have ever used, so I have no other frame of reference to base my opinion on. Thanks for the support. I hope you have a great day! Scott

@ Scott, thanks for the informative and descriptive response. I can well appreciate your bending/back situation. That hollower system including the laser and additional accessories seems a good deal at that price. I have used some uv adhesive for inlay but have been curious as a finish? It certainly saves time and sanding prep as an epoxy finish although spendy. Look forward to more videos. Oh, I am also curious about that epoxy for deep pouring? I have used only slow cast Alumilite urethane, but sometimes the fast set up time is pretty short! Ferdie.

What type resin did you use?
@dakotamax216 күн бұрын
Why did you brush resin on the ends of the second piece as a separate curing process?
@squareandlevel15 күн бұрын
To seal the end grain. I used a different resin in that video and it had a tendency to foam around end grain.

where do you get the cardboard tubes?
@squareandlevelАй бұрын
The cardboard tubes are from Home Depot. They are concrete footing tubes. They come in many different diameters and I can usually find one that is a perfect size. Hope that helps. Scott
