Even amidst the intense virtuosity and pressure, he still manages to throw a Gershwin reference in at 1:39. Legendary. Edit: I've listened to that ending five times now. The cleanness is unmatched.

Hi Frank, thank you for this. Kapustin’s recording was the first piece by Kapustin I had ever listened to, so it was an epic nostalgia hit. Out of curiosity, you wouldn’t happen to have access to the orchestral score of the Sinfonietta would you? Because since you’re a conductor too… you could get an orchestra to record it maybe?

Absolutely killin. So cool to see a modern, pitch-correct recording of the FULL VERSION! This was originally recorded in abbreviated form with the Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra, a Soviet big band, in 1964, with Kapustin himself playing. I was very disappointed that the ''Blueprint'' album doesn't include my favorite etudes Op.40 No.3 “Toccatina” and Op.40 No.6 “Pastorale”, as well as my favorite preludes Nos. 10, 12, 16, 18, 21, 22 from Op.53 :( But still, this album and its trailer -- simply amazing!

Feels so different watching this piece without seeing in the screen that vintage young Kapustin playing it. But very proud of it, Toccata is back to life. Thank you once again, Mr. Dupree! This is a very good year to be a Kapustin fan.
