Maybe a dumb question. Does the solar panel need full sun to charge the camera? My front yard does not have much sun and is mostly shade. Can this still work?

I highly recommend it. I had to get one with a mountable panel. It had just a little shade and would charge correctly.

It takes 1 passes to cut through 1/8" ply with my 20W. My $30 is set to 1 as well as my S-value. Is the key to make sure they match or is my output being impacted by the low settings?
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman 2 сағат бұрын
Never heard of 1 and 1 but theoretically as long as the numbers match your good. They need to be the same to be using 100% of the potential power of your laser when set to 100% in the program. Hope that helps.

Oh no! It’s really hard to diagnose issues sometimes this way. Have you check all the belt tension and teeth. I’d say it may be time to replace them.

Hi, I bought it but I have a problem with the Y axis. It doesn't move properly and gets blocked. The motor tries to continue moving but it gets stuck and the cuts get damaged. Do you know what could be happening? Any suggestions?
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman 2 сағат бұрын
I don’t 100% know but have you checked belt tension or damage? Also look into loosening your eccentric nuts just a little bit. Like 1/8” turn. While the machine is off…. If you bring the Gantry all the way to the front and tilt the machine at about 30-40 degrees… it should slide slowly and easily all the way to the back.

I bought a CL-4x4, because of your video. I have set it up but if I put a standard 1/8 end mill and drop Z all the way down. I am still .500 -.600 off the spoil board. Can you please tell me the distance from the bottom of the spindle clamp to the bottom of the collar nut? Is there any risk to lowering the spindle? This little 400W (underpowered) spindle seems like I would get some run out if I put too much below the mount. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman 2 сағат бұрын
Loosen the spindle, drop the Z all the way down just before it hits the limit switch, insert the bit, let it down so it touches the spoil board (I suggest adding a 1/8” spoil board so you don’t ruin the original T-Slots), then tighten back your spindle.

Your probe will always be the same….. no need to change that setting. But you need to USE the probe every time so the spindle knows how far away it is.

My biggest problem is cutting small intricate designs (right now snowflakes) without scorching the daylights out of them since I use 2 passes. Tried blue tape with one pass and didn't get thru the wood. Two passes and it's toast. Tried high speed/high power, up and down, mix and match. Checked device settings and yes, it was at 1000. Dropped another 0 on the end and will try again on a single pass with a higher speed.

Thanks for the videos. Really helps us decide although I'm still battling in my head which machine to get. This one is super impressive. But i have a question about laser engraving. If i want to do some etching on wine glasses in addition to all the regular wood cnc stuff, is it better to keep one machine to do it all out have a dedicated machine for that? This machine doesn't have the roller option but the FoxAlien does. But it seems you would have to raise the whole machine up and remove the bed to get the roller in and the clearance above the glass. That's why I'm wondering for the cost of the laser and trouble switching out all the time would it be better to get something like the Genmitsu kiosk to dedicate the laser duties. Thoughts?

One handy tip for de-nailing that will save your back. Cut the end off a pry bar and weld the claw to a steel plate that you can bolt onto the edge of your bench [or a post in the yard] I had several of these of different sizes and angles all on one plate, and they save a lot of bending and since you are presenting the wood to the claw, you have the advantage of a lot of leverage
