This sad sack culture where everyone has to be emotionless buffoons is killing us. The judges and rule makers are the real losers who have never accomplished anything in life and they seek to punish those who are greater than themselves with stupid nonsense like this.

The officials who did needs horse whipped, he swam a prefect race, and to disqualify him because of an early celebration and crossing into his teammates lane that had already completed his race. And from a pool pov it would be very hard for him to see if all the other swimmers had completed all their laps

What joker starts the discussion that leads to this decision - THAT is the real question. WHY? In all sports, this happens. In soccer, cricket, and other games; sometimes they don’t even LET the game finish when there’s a clear winner. So like… If none of the other swimmers who hadn’t completed yet had a problem… then what’s the actual problem? lol.

The officials were probably former swimmers who weren't good enough to win. That boy was definitely cheated out of the record and the medal!

I can't believe I'm gonna defend the NCAA, because I find their entire apparatus disgusting. But, the swimmer showed a lot of disrespect to the swimmers still swimming. Even if wasn't interfering.

Its a stupid rule, but it is in the Rule book . Everyone knows you not allowed to cross lanes when the race is stil undergoing

@moedawg818123 сағат бұрын
It feels like people follow rules way too strictly. Rules are made to keep a safe and fair environment for competitors. That specific rule is to prevent people from interfering with others who are swimming, however these 2 swimmers had both already finished their race so that rule shouldn’t apply. It’s so dumb seeing some referees living and dying by rules without realizing that rules exist to prevent specific scenarios from happening.

A rule incorrectly serving its purpose should be removed or at least applied with discretion. Especially at this level, absolutely nuts

Sure, stay in your lane, but the other swimmer was done with the race as well. You can give him a warning, but a disqualification makes no sense.

Nah I don't have a problem with it.. at first I was like damn, we can't celebrate now. But after experiencing swim team culture and bureaucracy, I would say he should have been taught to wait until the race was completed for other swimmers. That may not be the case for a marathon or cycling races as they pass through a finish line, but in a closed , fixed lane pool.. It would become very clear to the individuals whose job it is to uphold sportsmanship, and if others are still swimming, he didn't take a moment to consider them. Just because you won, doesn't mean you disregard everyone else.. in fact before you celebrate yourself, you should make an effort to celebrate everyone else's efforts; for their willingness to show up, attempt, & still finish. I think at the highest degree that is scrutinized the most.
@NorcalGabrielleКүн бұрын
Well that sucks, but he didn't get disqualified for celebrating, he got disqualified because he acted as if everyone else was done the race just because he was. While I was originally on his side, when you look back at the video, there are other swimmers significantly behind him..

i hate many rules, some rules are ridiculous, some rules infuriate me , some rules especially in the criminal justice system are harmful, buuuut facts are facts , rules are rules, argue till you are blue, if the rule is in place no emotion or outrage will change the decision, you lost by disqualification next time celebrate after the race is done. Sucks
