I mainly avoided an upgrade from Zen3 because Zen4 and 12-14th gen are more cooking ware than computing.

I dont think its unreasonable for people to expect Zen5 to outperform Zen4 x3d. Given the 16% IPC improvmeent, the fact that the improved thermals will theoretically lead to higher and more consistent boosting, and due to other oerformance games....i think it shoudlve beat the x3d by a hair. I havent done a deeo dive but also question the 20% number. I widner if its more like 5 or 10 percent.

PBO on Zen 3 definitely helped multi threaded performance. My 5950x is 3.6 all thread stock. PBO lifts to 4.2-4.4. Single Threaded only a slight bump.

ARM has momentum, but long term I think you'll see RISC V become the dominant architecture, because its open source.

Actually, the real home run that Intel needs is not Arrow Lake... it's Intel Foundry.

People will still buy Intel and they will still keep their market share more or less. It's sad. We have to buy Intel at work as the IT staff are ignorant about hardware. AMD needs to up their consumer advertising like Intel was in the 90s. AMD Inside!

I get the impression Intel is hiding Lunar Lake efficiency numbers, but T. Petersen did show it decoding h.266 at 3W vs Meteor Lake at 20W, and that was with the in-package DDR power included in the Lunar Lake measurement.

Personally, for me to go out and buy an all new mobo ($300+), new DDR5 memory ($300+) and new top CPU ($600-800) then it has to give me a lot more than 10-20% MT increase, this will only come from increasing core count. We've been stuck at 16 cores for too long now, Zen 5 needs to be the last time, AMD won't get any money from until they offer more than 16 cores or miraculously increases MT performance by 50-100% staying at 16 cores for the same money. Yes I know TR exists but it's crazy expensive.

All I wanted to say is this. I have been using computers since i was 10 years old. I have seen computing improving leaps and bounds since that time. While all this discussion is important, its only important at a very superficial level. For the majority of us with computers in our homes, whether it's for gaming or what not, all this discussion is moot and nonsense at best. On the whole, who has the money to have top of the line gear and, more to the point, who is going to spend that extra premium to gain that performance (remember that you have to have just as beefy a CPU to go with it). The average Joe isn't going to foot the bill for such a build especially when its performance that they realistically can't use themselves (pro-gamers excepted). The much better option would be to go console, which is supported by the statistics depending on where you look, purely from a price point comparison (easier buy and less hassle compared to a PC). This, and much more makes the title of this video not only moot but just damned stupid. Consider this, AMD and Intel's main market isn't us, the PC user. Its the server and enterprise market. Both these companies based their strategies around that very fact. Do you really think that those Corporations are going to watch a piddly KZbin video like this to make their analysis? Hell no would be the answer. Whether you like what I said is another question and I don't really care. You can have your own opinion.

transistor counts are hard to quantify since they're all kind of funny numbers outside of raw sram test chips. redundancy, I/O, and fast logic lowers density a lot, so what happened here is probably all of these levers got pulled at once because yields and clocks were beyond expectations.

Inevitable. Their inability to manufacture demonstrated by having to push 95 degrees to just barely top a chart (and people falling for it) was a symptom that maybe they could have other issues. They should just stick with TSMC. And could we stop pushing beyond spec to top a chart? Amd has 105tdp eco mode which is what they should run and what everyone should use, but they themselves are blasting beyond and praying they don't break. Amd got away with it. Intel did not. They really should just stay under 120tdp. It doesn't affect performance that much and it would help hide manufacturing issues. They won't. Everyone just cares about the charts regardless, people will never learn, and they'll keep blasting the power. And hoping.

The reason the "4060ti" struggles against the 3060ti is because it's really a 4050ti. EVERY RTX4000 series card is actually 1 Level lower than it's name this generation, Just look as the absurd drop from the 4090 to the "4080" there is no Real 4080 class gpu this generation. They charged you more for less then said "Turn on Imaginary FPS to get the performance you paid for lel" The hope with DLSS was that it would be a way to breathe new life into older cards, but of course it was used as a way to charge you more for less then claw back the performance you paid for with software trickery. Perfect evidence of this is that they don't allow imaginary fps on older cards that could actually benefit from it. At least AMD's Imaginary fps can run on older nvidia cards if the games developers care to implement it.

Not interested in any future products from intel, at least until they figure out the issue with their processors (my i7 13700k has started becoming unstable over the past few months :S) Probably going to go with AMD for my next build. Intel could put out the most insanely fast processor at a good price and id still probably avoid it.

You can NOT beat a 6800 for $340 right now. 16gb of vram and absolutely destroys the 4060 Ti and 7600XT performance wise. Its like 60%+ faster. Also, the drivers for RDNA2 are great. I have owned a 6750XT for 20 months now and I have had no issues. Also, I have seen a 7900GRE for $490-510. That is an insanely good deal!

8:35 when you were saying they tested at Intel baseline… that is the new normal for 13th and 14th gen now! No more reviews should show the raptor lake parts at 4096W power limits, as that is not achievable anymore. So i think comparing to baseline was the right move

Intel is a real American company, the face of USA in the world, what it looks like. energy efficiency, natural resources? who gives a f*ck? Chips that fail after a few months due to excessive heat? who gives a f*ck? comply with competition rules? We impose an embargo so that the rival company does not get ahead, but we do not allow it to be done to us, so who gives a f*ck? Their only concern is to be ahead, they don't care about the problems that people experience because of them.

I understand that this is a PC show but you guys always s*** on Xbox when PlayStation Plus is just as expensive but a way worse value a terrible deal. They created a game pass equivalent quote" that sucks and in my opinion kept many people from switching to game pass. A lot of those people really don't know how great game pass is. They just assume Playstation Plus is better because in their mind PlayStation is better
