Tom loves to hate on the B580. He says it is going to be a paper launch. I am getting my B580 from my B&H order today, January 2nd. I didn't really have to jump through hoops to get it. What i don't get is why he gets very excited about Qualcomm making GPUs? I mess around with some Chinese Domestic Market GPUs, Innosilicon Fantasy II and Zhaoxin C960. While they are very solid for desktop use, they still very much struggle in games. Innosilicon Fantasy II is PowerVR based and that technology has been around for quite a while. The MTT S80 is an excellent example of a on paper good card with drivers that struggle in modern gaming. Also, I feel, the Nvidia ARM APU will probably work best on Linux. Microsoft couldn't be bothered to help Qualcomm get Windows on ARM to function properly. TLDR: Qualcomm GPUs will be meaningless to the gaming market. Games are so specifically tuned to GPUs nowadays with game day drivers.

Im never a round 1 adopter for anything, if the intel cards work out well and run great and are reliable ill look at one in the future but they have been out so long i cant back them yet.

It would be different if it 80% as die efficient as nvidia but if is like 50%. Sure nvidia makes a massive profit on the 4070Ti but even 60% profit for nvidia means the b580 costs more than it is sold for. $250 vs $600+. Good for non gaming though.

In my whole life i've only been surveyed by steam 1 time on my ryzen + radeon main pc. On my intel laptop, i've been steam surveyed more than 10 times and its not even a gaming laptop.

Hi guys, i think AI will generate a new programing and game development paradigm, and it will not use hardware resources in the same balance as it is today. If you guys think in terms of reducing power consumption, AI could be revolutionary, since instead of calculating physics in realtime, RT, etc... It.could just access memory of the data base... More like high speed streaming. The "system" wants you to have nothing, but they are technology limited, latency is a big problem, cloud failed because of that, so they could do shared data part local part streamed, games would never be cost effectively To be able to be fully local, but locality would tackle latency. Anyway the are some different approaches to use AI and for Nvidia seems more interesting to have more local data,but for AMD (better value) to have less local. Hopefully someone will be able to understand it.

DLSS2 is available on 600+ games, FSR2 is only ~150 games. DLSS3 FG is available on 130+ games, FSR3 FG is only in about 50 games.

I think the cache needs tobe bigger games where too much is going on at a time has lower fps than intel hope they have fix that next gen

I'm worried about what happens to steam when Gabe dies. I don't know what the plan is, or if there is info out there but I mean I hope he thinks it through.... because thats when a monopoly might start becoming more predatory. Could even take a few generations. The first king of a kingdom/dynasty are usually pretty good because they (usually) earned the position and are smart enough to know you need to keep everything glued together, fast forward xxx generations and eventual you get corruption and abuse and entitlement. I just hope whoever takes his place, has his same mindset.... I mean even a great leader can choose a terrible successor, just look at Marcus Aurelius.
