If Nvidia really wanted to saturate the market and be No:1 for the next 3-6 yrs, just slash ya pricing, by 30-45%. Flood the market and no one can compete.

"Nvidia could be greedier" let him be greedier. Jensen is a sociopathic jerk. He didn't learn ANYTHING from being bullied as a kid except he became the bully. edit: You gotta be kidding me, above 5070Ti is professional. F off nVidia, the 80 series should NOT be priced like a freaking Canon prosumer camera, especially when you have to replace it every so often, not as much as a Canon prosumer. That is unless you want to upgrade the quality in terms of the resolution.

John Petty's quarter 3 GPU report tells a grim tale for AMDs GPU division. They don't have a mountain to climb, they have to climb to the moon. Nvidia is out selling them 10 to 1 sometimes 12 or 15 to 1.

Is James working for ubiqitum that general purpose risc 5 that does it all similar to FPGA? Intel CPU in laptop OEM is due to lot of stocks since AMD are instantly out of stock with nvidia rtx be it 6 or 8 core sells out and most of the AMD Ryzen laptop chip is allocated to minipc and handheld.

VRAM on these GPUs are a big issue - even 16GB is starting to feel low. AMD will lose this one if they price their 8800XT higher than 499.99. They don't even have AI-based upscaling. Nvidia is just a better GPU. Besides, if you want to play at 4k, you need the 7900xtx or the high-end Nvidia - that's it.

This guy is one of the most balance rational people you've had on. I still think Intel will be okay, if they get the fixes out and drop the price. And they launch a better version in the fall this will pass like the Zen 5 total debacle did. Once Zen 5 got it together no one really remembers how bad it is, the same will be true on Intel. Not that it matters since it's a paper launch which leads me to...WTF there's no chips or video cards the buy the week of black Friday, this has to be the worst year of DIY I can remember in decades.

On Arrow lake you said "I think this is worse than Zen 5" Yes, way way worse. Zen 5 has been flipped on its head. This Arrow Lake situation could affect intel for years.

Honestly, if 5090 is a "professional" card, then I naturally expect commitments with regards to raising priority support tickets, including regarding firmware and a guaranteed non-evasive response over a reasonably short time period. Or am I being gaslit?

Think you guys are rationalizing AMDs midrange strategy. If what you suggest about investment were true, AMD CPUs would still be midrange behind Intel. To me, irs all about CUDA.. use antitrust action to free up CUDA language and the market will be open afain at the high end

The extra cost of the 3D VCache products are proven to net you more sales… it’s not an even question at this point. That argument is as bad as Nvidia deliberately not giving you enough VRAM

“Circular Logic” comparing Ryzen and Threadripper? I find Threadripper’s current pricing structure disgusting. Strange how that is, the first two generations were okay, then when Intel gave up AMD decided to completely milk that niche market. Also “we gave the additional PCIe lanes to AM5” - wow, 4 PCIe lanes more compared to AM4 (and these are generally routed to a second M.2 slot) really justifies the increased platform cost.

On the AM6... AMD needs to simplify its line up non X up to 8 cores, G series needs rolled back into the lineup, X series needs to just be the Pro series or deleate the pro, X3d should be the bulk of the line up at this point. There needs to be a 6 core X3d at launch.
@jasonhurdlow6607Сағат бұрын
That's largely determined by yields. They often stockpile chips until they get enough to release a SKU. It's not fully decided ahead of time.

I'm in the 'no important things in the cloud' camp. We learned the hard way when our cloud provider ff-ed up and we lost a lot of money and customers. Went back to our own servers in a datacenter with a cloud upscale ability for peak demand only. Cloud is just another way of saying not your property, not under your control. As for ryzen vs threadripper. I would be perfectly happy with a 16 core CPU with quad channel memory and one extra fully connected x16 slot compared to what we get now. That said, Threadripper still allows us to do things cheaper than before, without relying on cloudproviders.

The costs to RayTrace. Is you need a 4070Ti with 16VRAM That is the reality. Just look at hardware on box raytracing content so 4070Ti is the entry level for raytracing, so if you are spending under the cost of 4070Ti, AMD GPU gives you the best price to perform and you are not raytrace. Under this price point, AMD is the price-to-performance winner (the 7900XTX just about matches 3090 in raytracing). So, forget about raytracing on this generation of AMD GPU's; so, looking at the next generation of AMD GPU, if AMD can match the raytracing performance of 4070TI, and, if this GPU cost less than Nivida GPU's andf gives the same level of raytracing performance, or little better, it is going to be a winner.
