It baffles my mind that people could ever say this film is poorly written. Say what you like about the other two prequel films, but I’m a writer myself and the writing in ROTS, *ESPECIALLY* Palpatine’s writing is extraordinary. I genuinely believe Palpatine is one of the, if not the most well-written character in the history of cinema.

You can see the fear in palpatine as he attempts to manipulate anakin. He is very wary of what he says and words everything perfectly to avoid conflict. Anakin could have definitely defeated him here, especially in this circumstance

John Williams’ score really drives this home. The eerie notes with Palpatine’s expressions make you feel like you’ve entered a dark and treacherous place where the very fabric and rules of the universe no longer apply.

When I first saw this, I thought it was super corny and the dialogue was cringeworthy... But as I've gotten older...I've come to really appreciate the body language and facial expressions Hayden and Ian use. Anakin's disbelief, rage, fury and desperation is plain as day on his face. Ian meanwhile has a stiff upright posture that isn't punctuated with hand gestures and uses subtle changes in facial expression, increasing the tension. I think if Lucas had an editor come in and help with the dialogue, this would've been perfect.

I wish Ian McDiarmid would've been the original one to portray the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back.

Could’ve stopped all this shit from the palp from happening if he had joined dooku… dooku wasn’t necessarily bad, he had to go along with certain things to ultimately gain as much power to then stop palp later but he needed help to do so . He was a traitor towards palp in his intent but didn’t have the chance too until palp betrayed him first. I actually like dooku a lot and had a lot of wisdom and knowledge within his character. He seen it he been through it all so his experience is the reason of why he left being a jedi .

I agree with Palpatine on studying all its aspects. In the expanded universe Revan was also a believer in the unifying force. When he was brought back into the fold of the Jedi Order they allowed him to remain unorthodox so long as he didn't teach his views to the jedis students, and I believe he was not allowed to take a Padawan. He argued that the force is not inherently evil or good, it depends on the individual practitioner which determines If their powers are good or bad. Jedi teach that love is a bad emotion to have and that it leads to darkness, Revan argued that love is inherently good. Love turned him from the darkside because of Bastilia, and Bastilia turned back from the dark because she loved Revan. Fast forward thousands of years, Vader sacrificed himself to destroy Palpatine because he loved his son and did not want Luke to die.
