Wonderful video, such quality in your presentation. The fact that Mao is still heavily influenced by traditional Chinese religious and spiritual traditions is something that we don't usually think about when we think of Mao. Thanks for the video :D

I am overwhelmed that this has been on the internet for years, and I am just discovering this "GEM." This was so informative about the rich culture and philosophy of China. The simplicity in which it was presented was excellent. I suppose it was meant for me to find this at this time. I learned quite a lot from this as it tied together information that I had in my mind from travels to the Far East and made them all clear. Thank you for your dedicated time in sharing this with us. Magnificent!!!

If the pyramids can be moved, the colonial/imperial English will move them to England. Today, there are millions of artifacts were stolen and displaced in museums all over Europe. .

It is in their DNA because this is the same people that went to every corner of the earth reenacting the same behaviour! Very destructive people, with a museum full of other people's properties. They even refused to give back the body of the Ethiopian Prince they took and unalived his parents.

Shame mosaics never made it in that part of the world after it evolved into the art form as we know it in classical Greece. One can only imagine the mosaics they would have produced in China.

Fabricated Justifications for the Looting and Destruction of the Summer Palace • Official Justification: British historians claimed that the Summer Palace was looted and burned as retaliation for the execution of British and French emissaries by Qing authorities. • Counter Narrative: Historical evidence suggests that plans for the looting were premeditated. Documents reveal that British and French officials had signed agreements in Europe to divide the spoils of their campaign in China, including treasures from the Summer Palace. • The Chinese execution of emissaries occurred only after the looting began, contradicting the narrative that it was the sole trigger for the palace’s destruction. Key Details of the Looting: • “Convention on Joint Captures in China”: A secret agreement signed between Britain (Queen Victoria) and France (Napoleon III) ensured meticulous division of looted items. The treaty underscored the colonial powers’ focus on equitable distribution of plunder. • Rewriting History: British historians and officials portrayed Emperor Xianfeng as a despotic ruler to justify their actions. They omitted the role of opium trafficking by British forces, which led to the death of the emperor’s son and fueled Chinese resistance. Misrepresentation of Looted Objects in Western Museums • Many stolen artifacts found their way into British and French museums, where their descriptions were altered to obscure their origins. For example: • Items were labeled as “acquired” or “gifted,” with dates changed to imply they were obtained legally. • Over 2,000 museums worldwide now house objects looted from the Summer Palace, perpetuating the legacy of colonial plunder. This retelling seeks to challenge the traditional colonial narrative and shed light on the lasting impact of the Summer Palace’s destruction on China’s cultural heritage and national memory.

The reason why the West is worried about China becoming more powerful is because many things stolen from China are displayed in their own homes for fear that their owners will take them back.
A million or more books were burned. I think that was the worst deed. Imagine all the medicine, cures, secrets, acupuncture, historical secrets reduced to ashes. We all know ancient Chinese were extremely talented, gifted, clever, innovative - but all those records gone. Didn't President Putin just warned the UK recently? I am still waiting.

I never knew about this, this is tragic. The palace should be rebuilt in the modern day with the closest accuracy to its former glory, and it should be transformed into a natural museum for the Chinese people and become a place for natural treasures again.

To me, the best Chinese porcelain is yhe Song Celadon ware. A tour de force of understated elegance and beauty. Especially when the pieces have a jade like quality. Listening to Progressives and Democrats whine, how racist it was for the US government to ban Chinese from coming to live here, in the late 19th into the 20the century. Yet the Chinese government acted this way towards people of Europe for centuries and the US during late 1700's into the 1800's. It is only bad or remembered when Whitey does it. A disgusting double standard applied towards White people, for this and many other things.

Brits robbed none. They either bought them from corrupted bureaucracy or collected them for the debt that Qing gov owes the Brits. Its absurd that how Chinese are brainwashed so hard to blame everything on foreigners when they talk very little about their own corrupted and failed governments.

The burning of the Yuanmingyuan Palace in 1860 and the subsequent looting of countless treasures from the Forbidden City, which were then displayed in the British Museum for profit, represent a dark chapter in Anglo-Chinese relations. This act of barbarity and theft cannot be excused, and the British Museum's continued refusal to return these stolen artifacts is a testament to the enduring legacy of colonialism and its devastating impact on the cultural heritage of nations. The Yuanmingyuan Palace, a masterpiece of Chinese architecture and a symbol of national pride, was systematically destroyed by British and French forces during the Second Opium War. The looting of the Forbidden City, the imperial palace of China, followed shortly after. Countless priceless artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, porcelain, and jade, were stolen and transported to Britain, where they were displayed in the British Museum and other institutions. The British Museum's justification for holding these stolen artifacts is that they are part of a global collection that enriches the understanding of human history. However, this argument ignores the context of their acquisition and the profound cultural significance these artifacts hold for the Chinese people. The artifacts were not acquired through legitimate means but through acts of violence and plunder. They represent a tangible reminder of the suffering inflicted upon China during the colonial era. The British Museum's refusal to return these artifacts perpetuates the colonial narrative and reinforces the notion that China's cultural heritage is inferior and can be appropriated by the West. It is a blatant disregard for the cultural rights of the Chinese people and a denial of their rightful ownership of their heritage. The time has come for the British Museum to acknowledge the injustice of its past and to return these stolen artifacts to their rightful owners. This act of restitution would not only be a symbolic gesture of reconciliation but also a necessary step towards acknowledging the enduring impact of colonialism and its lasting legacy of cultural dispossession. The return of these artifacts would be a powerful symbol of respect for China's cultural heritage and a recognition of the need to address the injustices of the past. It would be a step towards building a more equitable and just world, one that respects the cultural rights of all nations.
