Short section of galvanized pipe bolted to your rubrail wherever you want it and a 10 foot section of 5/8 inch rebar with a 90 degree bend 6 inches from one end for your soft-bottom anchor.

Nice restomod on a classic Jon boat. Keeping it simple was a good choice. Gonna make someone a nice new vessel for hooking into some fish and fun 🎣

How about a spray-on clearcoat to seal the paint?
@richerwin6397Ай бұрын
Just go over the existing carpet. Use the "old style" grass carpet. It's slicker to help move the boat onto and off the trailer.

2 main reasons for the bench seats in a row boat or jon, to house floatation and to add structural integrity to the gunnels, and the gunnel's integrity also supports the strength of the floor.
@richerwin6397Ай бұрын
Look for a cheap trailer online next. In my opinion, that one isn't worth the time and effort to bring it up to par.

I’m a fan of the metal decking instead of cheap wood that most people use, the metal cuts and framing is solid and clean! Fan of the builds!

What you said about pressure treated wood causing a chemical reaction is not true, Princecraft uses pressure treated wood for the floors on a lot of their models

What type bracket is on the front for the trolling motor?

Hey for your Hangkai "6.5"hp outboard -> Of course we know its a Chinese knock-off, first. You could get more top speed with a real 6hp Merc motor because its a true-hp motor. Yes I know you were just trying out the Hangkai engine! 10 - 11 mph just doesn't seem right for 6.5 hp.... I doubt it was user error. Maybe some ethanol-free fuel with a higher trim level will bring up to 12 - 13 +/- mph! The Hangkai knock-off just doesn't seem to put out its advertised power. Js!

Love the channel. I have learned a ton and used all that knowledge to do my own Jon boat. It came out very well imo. Next time you should hydro turf the hatches, at least some of them. Maybe that will help it not look so busy to you. You jus have to trim out the latch area. I was able to do mine that way and even leave the hydro turf on the little handles. I had to do mine that way bc the hatches were on the seats, so I wanted them to be covered. But the end result was it blended right in. Just thought id share my experience from my build. Keep up the great builds!!

man I'm not sure if ive seen you do these in past videos but i really want to get into customizing my 1982 starcraft 14 v hall but i want to eliminate the center bench and just put a floor in the the middle keeping the front and back benches and making them small decks . would that make the boat dangerous in your opinion ... i would hate to mess with the structural integrity of the boat and hit a wave that bends it or something . i would really appriciate if you gave me your ideas on it or have you done it? thanks for your time and great videos man ..

I have the same boat, only a 1977. The only difference is a 3rd bench in the middle with a bait well. I'm redoing mine too but I am gonna put a deck up front with storage. I say all that to say your video was very helpful to see what I'll end up with. Thanx
@pawsnazzy013 ай бұрын
The boat looks great. I think you made a mistake on your trolling motor mount. you should have put the open end on the front then it would have sloped the same as your deck it was curved at the front but you could have straightened that to match the bow. Just an old man thoughts.
