extremely solid review! I kind of regretted buying it a little bit because of the lack of polish, slow metaprogression and imbalanced mystlings. One thing that annoys me and yet Yugioh fans love this about forbidden memories (than again, what aren't Yugioh players wrong about? lol) is the guardian star bonus stat system. It's just a static +500 and that's a waste of coding. At least in Gameboy versions, they had mtg deathtouch equivalent which feels far more useful even though big numbers usually are still just the winning play. Forbidden memories was on ps1 so it had the capacity to give cards unique stat blocks and effects. One thing I would've done differently is as a way to entice low level crap cards with shit stats, give them the deathtouch and protection from" guardian star where essentially they're indestructible given you ample time to plan. Maybe even a "if this guardian star beats it's favored element, you win the game". So say you put that on Frog The Jam which has 700atk. Fields and equips to pump it up and it's an alt win condition. Or... You could play I don't know, Dark Blade that's 1800atk which is decent, so no autowin clause, but against it's favored guardian spirit it gains +1000 atk and def instead of 500 and maybe something like curse of dragon which has a generically higher stat of 2000atk only gets the 500 boost. There's no tributes or deck cost, so you gotta get creative. Konami is just a shit company without a creative bone in their body as even the deck cost system which would even be nice in the real game, they ruined by also applying a level cap on cards you can use at all. And all the meanwhile, the Gameboy games had more diverse effects. Most pretty useless mind you. But like Battle-Ox with it's weird destroy all fire monsters ability could at least bare some use against one or two characters with as many opponents running around. One thing I did like is probability of what they play rather than a generic deck. These aren't exact ratios, but if say Yugi has a 1% chance of opening dark magician in a version with no tributes, you're going to prioritize that rather than just his deck does or doesn't play it.

3:54 Yeah. I really wish people would stop calling anything that is even remotely spoopy "Survival Horror." None of the Id Tech games qualify. They are action games with varying levels of horror elements within. Survival Horror is a very specific genre. Limited movement, limited inventory, a focus on tension, suspense, atmosphere, sometimes even encouraging evasion over combat. Prey is honestly one of the best games of the mid 2000s.

Nice review. It's been 1.5 years now since release and I only started playing this game for to weeks. It's definitely become pay-to-win since then unfortunately. Best kart tiers and character outft tiers are locked behind a pay wall.
