JCPenney, Macy’s, and Dick’s Sporting Goods are not located at the Steamtown Marketplace in the downtown, but are instead found at the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City, a short drive from downtown Scranton. Best Buy is on Viewmont Drive, behind this mall. There are currently about 12 stores at the Marketplace, including T-Mobile, a bargain store and a convenience-type store. The one, remaining anchor store is Boscov’s, but there’s also Crunch Fitness, the Aquarium mentioned, Bee’s Backyard (children’s play business), medical and dental offices, quick service restaurants/eateries, etc.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. (Proverbs 28:13) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. (Psalms 51:1-4)

We stayed at The Best Western in Provo (University) in July. Utah is incredible. It was our first time there. The room was excellent, and the location was ideal for our needs. However, I encountered a serious issue with the hotel staff, including management, who were allegedly involved in an attempt to steal my personal belongings. My backpack, containing $850, brand new shoes, EarPods and expensive clothing went missing, and despite making eight calls to the hotel, they consistently denied any knowledge of its whereabouts. However, my EarPods, which were closed in the backpack, were opened days later and started pinging from the hotel's location. Someone had it and was going through my bag. The staff continued to deny having the bag and never returned our repeated requests to talk to a manager. We still haven’t heard from them. It remained in their possession for four days before I had no choice but to involve the police to retrieve it. Nobody was helping. The first officer who responded was dismissed by the staff. My backpack magically appeared after a second officer, 6 hours later was sent to investigate the whereabouts of the pinging signal. He too was sent away by hotel staff. That second officer was then approached in the parking lot, while I was on the phone with him, just as he was leaving. An unidentified person claimed they might know something about the backpack. It was handed to the officer and I was asked but I did not want to press charges. They were given multiple chances. This incident has raised significant concerns about the integrity and trustworthiness of this hotel chain. After numerous call to corporate, Best Western responded (in a review) and has wiped their hands saying because I called the police they will not help at all and to have a nice day. We tried to call the hotel numerous times before calling the police. We requested to speak with management and they never called back, Who else was I supposed to call? Seriously? I don’t know anyone in that town. I met no-one but the guy at Noodles and Co I ordered food from. Be real. Who was I supposed to call?. I did what I was supposed to do. I called a service that serves citizens. Now I have to fly out to Utah from Virginia, missing work, closing my business, missing my family, on my own expense. I am requesting a thorough investigation into this incident and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and distress it has caused. Until this matter is resolved to my satisfaction, I will be seeking legal representation and sharing my experience on social media

The Olde adage “can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear” comes to mind. Over 100 years ago, Fort Smith lost out to Tulsa. More recently, it has been surpassed by Fayetteville as the 2nd largest city in Arkansas. I live here. I love it, but folks it’s basically a big Mayberry. Woo Pig 🐷 Sooie ! If you want some real fun head to Northwest Arkansas !! Or even better Eureka Springs.

I am actually from Keene; born in Massachusetts but grew up in Keene. Still have family there and can say it was a great place to grow up. I am retired from the Air Force and now live in Oregon but still consider myself a New Englander. I have been up Mount Monadnock and really enjoy the downtown whenever I get back there.
