I’m glad you made this video! I recently bought this 140 in boxes and even though it’s rough I plan to restore it! Looks like hapco has a lot of the important parts. I wish I could find out more history on it. It’s gonna be a lot of work and money but it will be really cool when done. Thanks!

The best mods you can do to the 782D / 882 series is the gear reduction starter, the glow plug upgrade (NGK Y-103V) and rewiring the glow plug circuit. From the factory the current was routed through the dash to illuminate the GP indicator, which wastes a lot of power and is hard on the expensive key switch. Bypass that and use a solenoid off the key switch to send all volts from the battery straight to the plugs. Mine starts so much easier after doing these. ****If you do the glow plug mods, do them both at the same time. The original part number glow plugs are not designed to handle all the amps that the wiring modification will send to them.

Got this one fixed after a few days of studying on it. Turns out it was a solinoid but the solinoid wasn't grounded out well. Fixed that and never had another issue until I sold it a little while later. Learned a lot on that old thing...

Nice find. Regardless the cost, you just don't find many like that. I always say "Buy them when you see them" or you may never get another chance. I hate to have to say to myself "I wish I would have bought that tractor" after the fact.

Liked. You mentioned in the comments secton that it was a ground issue. Can you elborate? I have a 318 doing the exact same thing as yours. Thanks!
@gardentractorgarage Жыл бұрын
What I did was I replaced the solenoid, and then ran a separate ground wire from one of the bolts the solenoid grounds to, to my negative connection on the battery. That’s what fixed it for me.
@doncrap9627 Жыл бұрын
You obviously don’t know what you’re doing. Also, that’s a RELAY not a solenoid. Keep buying parts you don’t need. That’s good for business.
