Hey Dr. super helpful, would love to see some of the PT exercises in addition to medication and devices since this seems to be a more long term non surgical solution.

Hi, Dr. Brian I want to thank you so much for explaining on your other KZbin videos about when you need surgery! That really helps me understand things! Also, the other KZbin video you did on cervical laminectomy and fusion. Wow, I never knew how much you need to know how to ask questions to help yourself make decisions about surgery and I never knew that surgeons don't go by your pain they go on what is going on in your physical, MRI, CT Scan, or X-ray!!! Thank you so much! Thank you I was wondering if you could answer a question what if you have done everything possible and then some injections, trigger point injections, abalations, pain pumps, SMS, and nothing worked to help your neck or lumber?

Thank you Doc for posting this informative video. I had a micro discectomy with great results. At 6 weeks I developed An infection. The surgeon went in a second time for a “washout” and antibiotics for treatment. I’m 6 weeks from second procedure. We’re hoping that I recover and don’t require anything further. May need a fusion because I do have a myriad of issues. Spondy, scoliosis, degenerative issues etc. thanks again for explaining the fusion options!!!

I have RA and now Dxd with this. So far my RA pain management is covering this. Just barely. I would like to increase the cymbalta (am at 90mg) as I get about 4 hours of relief with it on board. Also, I get horrible back spasms after walking for abt 15mins.I sit down for 5 and can then go another 15. Very depressing. Two chronic pain Dxs and losing the ability to walk seems too cruel. I wanted to go to Ireland...before I die(I'm only 62)--I just don't see that as a possibility anymore...it took FOUR YEARS before one of my docs took spinal films even tho I started bringing LOWER BACK pain to their attention. I feel sad and hopeless most of the time. I guess I will go find a good spine doc for his help with this! Thank you Dr Brian...you are great.

I have told the ER on at least 3 visits in the past 9 months that I have saddle anesthesia, bilateral radiculopathy, some bowel leakage and I don't feel it when I pee or have a bm. They don't care. I've also told my PCP and a neurosurgeon and pain management dr. Still no concern. I have spondylolisthesis at L4 L5 but on MRI it doesn't show any compression at that level. I do have significant narrowing at the L2 L3 due to a bulging/herniated disc and severe ligamentum flavum hypertrophy. Altho it is not reported on the findings of the MRI. And I've asked at least 4 of the drs i've seen in the past 6 months to review the MRI but none of them will. I am so at a loss anymore. My entire right foot is numb, tingly, and tight all the time. I'm also now to the point I can hardly walk more than 10-15 steps without needing to sit down. And not 1 dr even cares. Like I said, they don't see anything wrong at the L4 L5 so I'm assuming they aren't willing to look higher up. IDK if I have sexual dysfunction because for the past year I have not been able to find a comfortable enough position to attempt it, so I've gone without.

Does this also apply to children?
@DrBrianSuTheSpineGuy5 күн бұрын
It is unlikely for kids to get cervical stenosis since it is typically a degenerative condition. Sometimes kids are born with it but it is rare.

So would this cause tingling and numbness in both feet. And will it heal so the pain is nor there?
@DrBrianSuTheSpineGuy5 күн бұрын
It typically does not cause tingling in the legs. That is typically more related to stenosis. There is a video on that.

I had an ACDF approximately six weeks ago of my C5-C6 and have been experiencing pain from the base of my neck down to my left shoulder, extending to my left hand’s pinky, ring, and middle fingers. Great information. I found out a couple weeks ago from my chiropractor that I have degenerative disc disease In between the 6&7 vertebrae in my neck. Had my MRI this past Wednesday and it showed severe bone growth with a lot of calcification. He is sending my results to our neurosurgeon for a 2nd opinion to see if surgery is needed at this time or not. Until then, we will continue with adjustments, traction and massage therapy with the chiropractor and I will be going to another doctor for pain management using injections. It’s been quite a wild ride. Thank you for your video.

I wish you were my doctor. They skipped 1 and 2 and went straight to wanting me to take Gabapentin or do injections. My pain is not that bad at this point to risk the crazy side effects of Gabapentin. Most doctors don’t explain said side effects nor that you have to taper off them. And can cause withdrawals even if you do taper. It’s some bad stuff. I hear nothing but horror stories. I don’t need more problems than the one I came in with. I’d much rather try the nsaids or prednisone route. But I can see my doctors reaction now if I ask about that because I saw it on KZbin.

This seems like a very logical approach to spinal stenosis. I'm wondering what Dr. Su would do in the case of Baastrup's disease of that L4-L5-S1 region? That's my situation. I've had nerve branch blocks, RF abalaation, L4-L5 steroid injection all without reduction of the pain. I've been on increasing opiods for years and even that is beginning to lo longer provide relief. I'm an 81 year old male in otherwise good physical condition but no longer able to do many things because of the pain.
