Great scenery with very unusual rock formations everywhere. ( lot’s of eye candy if your a climber ) Just yesterday went for my 3rd time. Yellow Belly and Lord of the Flies are my favorite boulder problems so far at Lizard’s Mouth. Also visited the Brickyard which is practically next door and want to go back and try the Yeti boulder problem. Post up favorites, the Lizard Mouth traverse in your video is an amazing workout.

Yo Alan, what is your training like? Do you hangboard or do anything else aside from moonboarding? Also, how many days a week do you moonboard? I just started moonboarding after building a 2016 set in my garage and generally climb 3-4x a week for 1-2 hour sessions. Already seeing progress and gains. Cheers.
@AlanHauser
@AlanHauser Жыл бұрын
These days I'm in there 3x a week for about 90 minutes. Nothing else as far as training, but I've been at a plateau for about a year, so contemplating changes to the routine.

Hi Alan, fantastic recap. I also built my own moonboard at the beginning of the pandemic but the 2016 instead of the 2019 version and got consistent with V8. Life has been busy again once everything opened back up so I'm not quite at the level currently. With another kid coming in 2 months, I'm debating if it would be worthwhile switching to a 2019 layout. Like you, I've completed most of the benchmarks at my level and felt some boredom setting in. You mentioned in your video that you might switch to the 2016. Have you done so yet? If so, would you mind sharing your thoughts on the differences between the two layouts? Thanks!
@AlanHauser
@AlanHauser Жыл бұрын
I kept the 19 setup for a year, switched to 2016 for a year, and now back to the 2019 for the last 8 months. I would say for me it is worth it to have both setups since I get bored easily. The 2019 feels like it trains a different kind of strength and movement, since gripping the slippery woods becomes the biggest challenge instead of pure power. So I feel like I'm working my grip strength much more than I was on the 16.

@@AlanHauser Awesome, really impressed with your volume in that amount of time, my fingers are dead if i climb 2-3 weekly on moonboard, how did you fingers stay so strong, do you experience synovitis at all?
@AlanHauser
@AlanHauser Жыл бұрын
@@marvin148I totally get sinovitis if I hit the crimpy problems too much. I force myself to never hit my crimpy projects more than 2 attempts per session.
@Loaftie
@Loaftie 9 ай бұрын
@@AlanHauser Does your sinovitis effect your climbing or just your ROM?
@AlanHauser
@AlanHauser 9 ай бұрын
@@Loaftie ROM is not affected during climbing sessions, but the inflammation makes it necessary for me to take longer rest periods, and I have to limit my sessions that use lots of crimps, so I'm weaker overall on crimps.
