It is pretty odd but I think it’s just coincidence. Magus means magician (in more of a hereditary priestly hierarchical sense) in Latin so both writers probably just chose that as a fitting enemy name for whatever specific reasons they had. Marvel editorial (if they even clocked this or cared) may have figured the two characters worlds wouldn’t ever overlap so shrugged it off as nbd. Just guesses, tho!

We have to recognize that a couple of dumb white guys made this comic book in the early 2000s. And there was a real lack of diversity in that series." @@domchap7328 good question! It’s kind of both! Her sorcery, spell casting, soul sword, and Darkchild abilities are from her childhood in Limbo and from the demon lord Belasco. Her mutant ability is the teleportation (stepping disks), which use limbo as a traversal ground - so I can see why that overlap can come across confusing for some.

Yeesss, I loved this issue and I can't wait for more! I've been working my way through all of Magik's comic appearances and I couldn't agree more with you. A lot of stories just do not use her to her full potential or even at all really aside from a mutant taxi and it's so sad because she's SUCH a cool character!! Her origin is so incredibly powerful, I can't wait to see where this story goes dealing with her struggle against the Darkchylde!

So, I think I’ll definitely make a video on this sometime soon. In the meantime, I’d point you to Astonishing X-Men by Whedon which is basically a direct continuation from Morrison’s run. You can also check out Extreme X-Men by Claremont which covers folks like Storm and a few others during Morrison’s New X-Men (so, one of those adjacent runs). Astonishing is, in my opinion and I think the opinion of many, much more enjoyable. But there’s some good and interesting stuff in Extreme too. I’ve got Omni review for both on my channel but if the books are OOP (have not checked in a bit) then…Marvel Unlimited can be nice while waiting for reprints!

Might be a possibility if the good buzz around this series continues - who knows!

I think it’s been quite sometime since she had any romantic relationship with a man - but, I guess that’s a fickle thing that could change at the whims of anyone who writes her.
