Cypher has been my favorite character since I found the New Mutants and his friendship with warlock was awesome

@@syrrix definitely a super endearing relationship! I loved Krakoa era Doug too!

Cypher was kinda like a male version of Kitty, an ordinary boy that readers could see themselves in, an outsider who we could all relate to, almost physically powerless amongst superheroes, yet sooo brave...!!!

Absolutely, I love that.

Fantastic. Your video essays/documentaries are always so well done. I can tell you put a lot of time and research into this.

@@bpo1975 very kind of you to say and very much appreciated - thank you! Especially gets a little more difficult with some of these characters Claremont spent a bit less time exploring, haha.

Man, his death still hurts, even with him being back for around 15 years now. Doug has been one of my favorites since the day I first encountered him, which was in New Mutants Annual #2 (a reprint as the original came out when I was too young to read).

Great issue for Doug, totally get why he'd be a favorite after that!

They killed him because of fan demand and revealed he actually had quite a following? I think that goes to show while a vocal can represent the majority doesn't always mean that is necessarily always true. I feel like the internet thrives on extremes, people very happy or very mad about something but it leaves out the fact that more often than not most people are probably rather chill. On to Doug. Not my fave but I do like him. I actually liked pretty much all of the New Mutants. Much to my surprise. Was never that into the "super heroes but they are kids" thing. Even when I was a kid. Jubilee was as good as invisible to me and I've only started to like her in retrospect.
