I remember when I was a little kid in the 90s, my folks dragged me to Las Vegas and when I was in the room while they gambled downstairs, I was flipping through the channels late night and caught this program. I had no idea what the hell it was. The intro looked cool but it had a lot of things like interviews, music videos, etc. I think the channel was showing reruns of this show. Takes me back for sure!

Are those puppets of Paul and Linda McCartney from the English show Spitting Image?Who was the puppet snorting a Milkshake supposed to be?Mick Jagger?
@Esotereclectic
@Esotereclectic 26 күн бұрын
Yeah, that's "Spitting Image". They never caught on over here on this side of the pond for some reason. Maybe the humor (or the puppets) were "too weird", and maybe seen as mean-spirited. Despite TV appearances and that one Genesis video, they pretty much disappeared after that, at least over here. And yes, that's Mick alright. I have another special that was done for Cinemax, with a quick clip of Mick sneezing into a hanky, then Paul McCartney blows his nose into it, and then passing it to some other guy, who snorts up their snot like cocaine. Bizarre!!!

I saw IB in 1970. They played in a gadda da vida, had a 45 min drum solo by Ron Bushy. It was awesome. The. Blues Image opened for them. They were tremendous. I was hawking sodas to the crowds.

Some excellent performances at the Atlantic 40th. Mixes are crap, though. My guess is miking and leveling everything properly was impossible with one band after the other taking the stage.

This live performance is so underrated.. Having Robbie there, the breakdown interlude jam and story telling from eric bloom to build up to "woke this morning" line, with the crowd fully obliging with the reply. Legendary.

Honestly, Eric almost kills this. Fist off his guitar is way to loud, you can barely hear the organ for the first 3 minutes. Secondly it sounds like sh*t, not sure what make this is (Ibanez?) but it's just 80's bad and doesn't fit. Thirdly, what in the hell is he wearing?

@@rockinronist Funnily enough, they both played Mosrite guitars (Johnny got his for dirt-cheap in the '70s, since no-one wanted them anymore), so the comparison is fitting.

@Esotereclectic Nah. Atlantic's monster output ended in 1990 or so. Know what you mean, though. The live show circuit these days is a GD mess. The 75 series reissues are nice though. Recs are CSN couch album, Billy Cobham's Spectrum and Yes Fragile. Forget the Zep 4, though...it's weak - low volume.

I was fortunate enough to meet Doug Ingle after an IB show in 1987 or 88. I still have his autograph tucked away in the gatefold of my Ball LP. The thing I was most amazed by was learning that his vocals were not processed - his normal speaking voice also had that cathedral-like, slightly unearthly Butterfly quality to it. Nice fellow. RIP, Doug Ingle.
