Really well done video - it showed up randomly on my front page. Our family is from Bonavista so we're out there often and I've sat in many of the same places chasing puffin pics, glad you got to experience them onshore - it doesn't always happen! Thank you, Redgy! I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I use Adobe Premiere Pro, but it is subscription-based. A great alternative is DaVinci Resolve, which is free to use. Both are professional video editing programs if you need that level of power. If you’re looking for something quicker to simply put clips together, Adobe Rush might be a good option as well, which does offer a basic free version last I checked. Thanks for the suggestion! I may create some tutorials in the future if I have any unique editing tricks to share; however, there are a ton of great tutorials out there. Greetings from Canada! I really appreciate your comment and hope you have a great day!

Do Sony Teleconverters work with the Sony a6400 and 70-350mm lens?
@CurtisSnapshot11 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, Sony teleconverters don’t work with the 70-350mm. They’re only compatible with a limited range of lenses, which are listed on Sony’s website under each teleconverter model. However, Sony teleconverters should work with all Sony E-mount cameras, including the a6400, as far as I’m aware. Thanks for commenting!

Why not just put the camera in APS-C mode instead of >$500 for the 1.4TC? I'd rather go with 2.0TC and make sure to shoot in good light. Typos edited.
@CurtisSnapshot7 күн бұрын
Totally fair point! APS-C mode is likely an easier option with better results (or simply cropping in post). I went with the 1.4x TC because I was hoping to increase the magnification of my subjects at the minimum focusing distance. As for why I didn’t go with the 2.0x TC, I read far too many reviews saying the combination doesn’t play well together. I’m always open to other opinions, though, teleconverters are certainly a tricky subject! Thank you for commenting; really appreciate it!
@ggivensjr7 күн бұрын
@@CurtisSnapshot I was not meaning to criticize so I apologize if it sounded like I was critizing. I had the TC2.0 and 200-600mm FE5.6-6.3 as evaluation loaner. At first I had issue focusing at minimum focus distance (7RM5) but think it was because I had AF Area set to Wide and AF-C. After I changed to AF Spot-small and to AF DMF I was able to adjust using lens focus ring and I also changed focus limiter shallowest depth (sorry I don't remember what it is). Once I made those changes AF was much snappier. Later I found article on Sony support site that addressed the issue using the settings I just documented.

Hi Curtis my name is Sergio I live in Italy! I have the same camera and lens as you, that is the A7IV and the 200/600!! I would like to ask you a question, please? When you put the 200/600 on the camera, that is on the bayonet, and once you have locked it, tell me if when you turn it right and left, that is holding the camera in your hand and turning the lens right and left, forcing it a little, don't you feel a little play? Because mine does and both the lens and the camera are new and I feel it even with the 24/70!! I would like to know if it is normal or if I have to send it to the service, thanks and regards.
@CurtisSnapshot21 күн бұрын
Hey Sergio, I really appreciate the comment! I actually saw your email first and replied to that, but I’ll share my answer here as well in case anyone else stumbles across the comment and may be curious themselves. Every lens I’ve used on the A7IV has a tiny bit of play when it’s locked into place. I believe this is just the nature of metal mounts, so there’s nothing to worry about! As long as the rubber gaskets around the 200-600’s mounting point are intact, your weather sealing should work great too. But of course, if the extra play seems a bit more significant, then contacting support or visiting a local camera shop might be a good idea, for peace of mind. Feel free to email me or reply here if you have any other questions. Congratulations on the new camera and lens!
@sabelli3321 күн бұрын
@@CurtisSnapshot Ok because they had told me that but I have been carrying it in my hand so many times because it is a bit heavy and when you lift it, it is a bit of a mess in combination with the optics and I feel that play and I didn't have it with the A7III! But if you say that you feel it too, ok, thanks.

Valid points. I am looking to buy it myself. Now I have the 2x teleconverter which is even more niche with the 200-600mm. I was considering selling it, but I am very happy with the video results it gave me in a situation where I had to be 200 meters away from my subject.

I am currently thinking about the Sigma 60-600 vs 200-600. The Sigma has its inherent advantages like minimum focus distance, 6 stop oss, 10x zoom and IQ af speed is equal to the Sony. But the Sony has internal butter zoom, ability to extend with TC and 15+ fps - so a little inclined towards Sony. Also the sony is 20% cheaper here.
@CurtisSnapshot27 күн бұрын
Very tough choice! I'm a fan of sigma lenses, but I haven't had the opportunity to test out that particular lens. Sony certainly won't disappoint if you do go with that though. I'm sure you'll be happy with either purchase, happy shooting!

I saw a video about this 1.4 tc + 200-600 and its effects. They mentioned that there are extra light diffusion and internal reflections that happen which contribute to they haziness and loss of contrast. This effect is perhaps exacerbated when the light is reflected in such a way that it forms specular highlights, like harsh light being directly reflecting from a smooth surface.
@CurtisSnapshot27 күн бұрын
Interesting, I definitely have a harder time capturing great images with this setup in the bright harsh lighting. Softer light usually turns out better, but then you have to deal with lower shutter speeds or a high ISO to make up for the lack of light.

I really wish I could fit this lens in my bag but that would mean also having to remove most of the ones I have. I don't know if my plans for an 85mm, a 24-70, a 70-200 and a 200-600 would fit.
@CurtisSnapshotАй бұрын
@@kingghidorah8106 that’s a lot of weight! My backpack is on the cheaper side, so it might be part of the reason, but my shoulders get pretty sore carrying around all my gear at once. The 200-600, sigma 24-70, tripod, and whatever additional gear I need for a specific project. With the right bag I think you could fit everything, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when considering this lens. Hope the video helped, thanks for commenting!
@kingghidorah8106Ай бұрын
@@CurtisSnapshot the bag that would fit that mastadon of a lens is above €400. I have the basic KF Concept 22L bag, I believe the 200-600 will fit 100% on the upper pouch but it will add weight and bulk. Besides, I have an A7IV, so cropping ain't gonna be an issue (and the irony is strong because the 14mp crop is sharper than the A77II 's 24mp images. I really care much more about not going in debt while having a good autofocus. I bought a LA-EA5 thinking that would be enough to cover me for life since all my lenses are A mount (16-50 f2.8 DT SSM Sony, 80-200 HS APO GM Minolta (the best one I ever had), 85mm 1.4 GM Minolta, 90mm 2.8 272E (Tamron, beautiful looks and good image quality) and a 150-600 G2 (Tamron) that I got ridiculously sharp but AF is dogshit in A mount body, not better on E mount. La-ea5 is just a little bit of trolling from Sony; they disguise it as a way to keep A mount alive, when in reality each adapter is absolutely hampered to suck in one way or another. La-ea5 has horrible autofocus transmission and is unable to go smooth, all it does is little steps in either a slow succession or a fast succession and every la-ea5 works like this. LA-EA4 is the best, you may think, since it has the larger autofocus motor and has been seen to deliver amazing results, right? Well, no. It's massive mirror only delivers half of the surface of apsc in autofocus, having only 15 points in the center and none of them are even close to the center square of the rule of thirds. You could turn the adapter into LA-EA4r Monster which is compatible with all generations of Alpha and NEX cameras but the EA4 is 350 where EA5 is 240, and the modding costs a warranty void and 200 more bucks. That is 550 which feed you healthily for a month. Sorry, too much yapping, lol.
