I'm getting one tomorrow for £60, I'm cropped so I can easily keep it at 200, it will probs only be used on a tripod, 12 years ago I was shooting a 24 105 L and a 70 200 F4 no IS, only spent £120 for a 100d with the 18 to 135 IS which is a bloody good lens it's a shame it couldn't of been f4 all through, I use it an awful lot at F11 to F22 when doing wild life, I cannot afford the 100mm F2.8 L macro so I have been scoping the Tamron 90mm or the Canon 60mm and of course I have the 50 ii usm lol. I'm having more fun nailing good photos than I ever did with Lenses 6ds and 7ds plus L glass, of course when finances allow I will grab another 70 200 F4 IS this time, but the 24 105 doesn't do anything better than a 18 to 135 And who has images printed at 12ft x 8ft, the printers are not going to change there DPI just because it got taken at a higher Res, my pro print shop/warehouse (they do the huge advertising images) and my images are printed at 271dpi on the textured matt paper, hate gloss, they do another matt paper that's a little more expensive but we are talking 25p instead of 17p on a 7" x 5" I get all my good shots printed, a 12" x 8" is only 50p and you cannot complain at that. Anyway I will comment tomorrow night about my experience with it as I only got to take it round the shopping centre for 15mins, the guys know me and my address so I'm hardly going to steal, obviously they are not going to let me go out with a stupidly expensive lens incase I drop it or it gets stolen. But honestly I get such a better buzz of nailing something with budget gear than I ever did with premium, as it's sort of expected. Tah for listening to my BS

GX1 with 20 1.7 used usually seems to go for about $300-350 now, a bit inflated maybe but still a decent camera, especially with that lens although M43 has no shortage of good lenses. The Olympus E-PL5 or E-PM2 may be better deals and the 20 1.7 works fine with those too, in fact they will add IBIS to the mix too so you can shoot 2 or 3 stops lower ISO. Good photos by the way.

I really interested in this camera and might consider to buy the nx500 instead because it's so cheap just 250$ usd only in my city right now while having so good image quality. But i didn't know enough how the OIS lens performs since it didn't have IBIS like lumix gx85 (my first consideration camera). Could you make the stabilization test video on each lens you have? Im curious how good the stabilization perform on OIS lens and non-OIS prime lens
@too_many_cameras
@too_many_cameras Ай бұрын
The OIS isn't very effective on the Samsung lenses. Even with the digital stabilization enabled it's quite far from what you can achieve with an IBIS

Yes you can use an optical viewfinder. There is a DF-CP1 viewfinder made for this model but other hotshoe mounted 28mm viewfinders will work too
@MidNightBuoy
@MidNightBuoy 3 күн бұрын
It depends on what you want to shoot, from low angles like water poodle reflection you can use a view finder, and in a point and shoot like that I personally don't see a real need, I had a canon G12, but never used the view finder since it was a optical VF and only helped to see what is in my frame, so to me a VF in a point n shoot is ok, but not a game change or deal break, in a mirror less or dslr it's, but with one of these you can set the settings and do a preview on the screen way faster for street photography

Man I own the NX1 and it is actually quite amazing. Those small annoyances are not enough to keep people away. Which is why you still see this camera best many of the newest APC cameras out there. Only Fuji who recently came out with their 40mp camera is now beating this one. But for the price of 500 or less for a body, downsampled 6k to 4k, USB3 with charging, and HDMI 4k 422 10Bit external recording or 8 Bit internal in H265 which was way ahead of its time makes this camera a real gem! It also has weather sealing and the original Samsung batteries actually have great amount of life. 3rd party not so much. I use both FD lenses and the original 16-50S lens and it’s amazing. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is on a tight budget but wants a great system!

@TheBitcoinGiraffe
@TheBitcoinGiraffe 21 күн бұрын
I personally use Final Cut Pro and have been converting to Pro Res LT on a Mac Pro 6,1 (trashcan) which seems to handle playback just fine with two GPUs with 6GB each. Pro Res LT still maintains a ton of detail, and gives slightly faster editing but increases the file size by 3. If you have the hard drive space that’s the way to go. If not, you can stick with H265 and run with that if you are on a modern M series Mac.

It’s a great little camera, having decent manual controls makes it handy. Do you know how to get the live view on the Coolpix A, to display your actual current exposure? The image on my LCD doesn’t reflect the actual exposure until I half-press the shutter button. It makes setting the exposure a lot more ponderous than i’d like.

I want the camera to be able to capture the fine details and texture of the birds feathers. For anything else you can just use a highend smartphone that you are likely carrying with you anyway.

I've shot similar wildlife images using an E-1 with a Tamron SP Adaptall-2 35-210 with 2xTC. So - manual focus vintage glass. It works with birds on sticks or pretty much anything that's not moving much, and if you've got good enough light. It also works as a reasonable set-up for environmental type wildlife images, but if you're expecting super-sharp portraits that fill the frame, you'd need to be astonishingly lucky. Big help to use a support of some sort at those focal lengths as well. From memory, that set-up owes me around US$250. That said, going with a 2xTC i think it's better to stick with good primes instead of zooms and, if you can cope with manual focus, there are plenty around at reasonable prices (and some of them are plenty fast). Cheers for the vid - sorry that your E-1 has taken a bit of a bash... it's one of my favourite cameras.
