hi pal, your channel got recommended to me by you tube, great video by the way. Coincidentally I rebuild engines everyday, Im from the UK as well, couple of things I do different to you, but still has the same result, a running engine, lol. For once i'm pleased you tube sent me a channel that i'd enjoy watching. I've rebuilt so many of these, for various reasons, head gasket failures, wet belt failures, and when the belt fails, they DO spin the cam lobes on the camshafts, so be careful with that if you haven't come across it yet. Also done a few block failures, due to cylinder wear, because of lack of lubrication on the under side of the piston. They suggest using a torque multi=plier for torquing the crankshaft bolt up..... its called a dewalt 1/2 inch gun for me. never had an issue, and probably rebuilt 80-90 of these engines within last 2-3 years. . just subbed, cheers.

Quite impressive work to be carrying out on the side of the road ,is that the 2.2 very clattery engine but good I have one with 330 k miles on it, quite noisy in comparison to my peugot 2.0 blue and other fiat 2.3 ducato

Hi mate Quick question oiling the the bolts will that affect the torque settings as there will be slight difference due to resistance in the bottom of the threads ? Cheers
@themobilemechanic1992

Just creates less friction and prevents the bolt skipping when torquing it down.

Not a bad price for new head and fitting kit that eh. Could always keep that head and get it welded as a spare incase you happen to buy a broken van in the future if they don’t want it as an exchange. Nice job.

First class video. 👍👍 So clear and well explained. Good to know it can be done without removing the turbo or exhaust. I have the same dash warning on my Nemo with the same engine and I’m wondering whether to do it myself. I can now do the check on the relay to rule that out first. What kind of price would I expect from a garage for all 4 plugs?

Quick tip - Try to tighten the glow plug slightly first. This usually breaks the bond that forms between the steel threads of the glow plug and the aluminum threads in the head. Tightening first works better as the twist exerted on the plug deforms it slightly and actually makes it contract ever so slightly, whereas undoing it may not. You are also less likely to get a situation where parts of the thread inside the head being to break off as they become welded to the plug. Another tip is to take your time! It doesn't mater if it takes you half an hour of gently working the plug back and forth to get it out, it's still faster and cheaper than removing the head! Just remember not to put too much pull on it at any point.

Hi ... i wonder if you can help ?????........(i,m a mechanic by trade but old with health issues) . My BMW 1 .....2005..... series 1.6 petrol (only £800 trade)......... had a rusted brake servo and was replaced at the MOT garage who are really nice blokes 🙂 . It drove perfect and i drove it home like a little old lady 🙂 . The battery went weak and i jump started off the front terminals and drove it to charge it up . I did a stupid thing by just letting my Fiat Punto "jump cable" to charge the battery in the boot (i know i,m not suppose to) . The steering has gone MAD .... (lol)......... it's jumping to the right and misfiring BAD at 2000rpm ....(yeh the tacho jumps) . As i pull left gently............ the "A" in the "@" sign lights up . THEY ARE MAN AND MACHINE IN PERFECT HARMONY .......... lol . (as we both hate each other) ......lol ................ Yeh after the oil change the timing chain went quiet and i drive it gently and keep it polished . I tried the "lock-to-lock" when stationary ...... no joy .... THANKS FOR READING

For many 8Ps, this works when the service indicator is only for the oil change. As you can see in the video, the procedure specifically restarts the oil change interval. When the indicator has instead come up for the major service - beyond just the oil change - it all looks similar, but resetting the oil change will not get rid of the annoying reminder. If you DIY your major service, you will need to plug in vcds or similar to reset that broader service reminder. I have the full Ross-Tech package, but it is still frustrating that Audi makes me haul out the laptop for this.

Is it easier to change the whole drive shaft and sensor than to change the ring and sensor?
@grandsoleil56
@grandsoleil56 4 ай бұрын
It's not much work to get the old ring off just tap it off with hammer and big flatblade, clean up the drive shaft a bit with wire wheel or sandpaper and tap the new one in place. But yeah if you have a set of new shafts would be slightly less work
