Hi Martin, thanks for your video. I have a question for you : how tall are you ? because I bought a SportGlide 2 weeks ago and as I'm 6'2" tall, I just replaced the stock windshiled by a 12" one ... and that's terrible, very unpleasant.
@My_bike_and_me2 ай бұрын
@@Philippe-yb2rl hello mate, I’m 5’6. I tried a couple of different screens and I guess it depends what you’re looking for. I found the screen with less buffeting was in fact the stock screen as the air was clean. The 12” freedom shield was very good quality but at 70mph + I felt buffeting at the top of my head. The thing that bothered me the most was the fairing was designed for a small screen and not for a 12”+ screen and I noticed the fairing shaking at higher speeds and that concerned me. I only tended to use the 12” screen in the colder weather as it gave me much better protection. I’ve since sold the Sport Glide but have to say it’s a great bike, I had 3 years of enjoyment from it. Hope that’s of some help. KZbin is full of people looking for the perfect screen and I guess we are all different and looking for slightly different things

What are they for? Are they to protect the rider from hot air when stuck in stationary traffic? If yes, don't they restrict airflow over and around the engine, thus reducing cooling and increasing heat in that area? I have an M8 and I only ever have a heat problem in stop/start traffic in hot weather. I can see they might protect the rider but at the cost of engine cooling? I don't know...?
@My_bike_and_me2 ай бұрын
yes to stop your legs from excess heat when at a standstill. As for restricting airflow to the engine? they are genuinely HD spares not after market so Im assuming HD approve them
@trippontwowheels2 ай бұрын
@@Lectric_Blue Just the opposite. The deflectors scoop air to make it flow around the rear cylinder head to COOL the engine, which extends engine life and ever so slightly increases horsepower.
@Lectric_Blue2 ай бұрын
@@trippontwowheels That sounds good, but I find that in slow or stationary traffic the heat can't get away quickly enough (hence the rider cooks) but heat rises and these seem to block the heat from rising (escaping)? Once you start moving again, anything past 5-10 mph you wouldn't need them, would you? Just seems counter-intuitive to me? Thanks for your response though 👍
