Hey, your English is fine - no problem :) Good question. You probably would be fine if it's just 10-15 minutes - I didn't see any major temperature problems after removing my cooler for this time. It can depend on a few factors though (how old the thermal paste is, for example). Maybe just keep an eye on CPU temps in HwInfo while you're gaming, and make sure they aren't getting too high.

Is it alright for a 250 watt gpu?
@TechOverwrite
@TechOverwrite 13 сағат бұрын
It depends on the PSU and the PCIe cable used. In theory the motherboard slot only gives 75 watts, so 225 watts is 'safe' for a GPU - and 250w is not. But in practise, a good quality PSU should supply more than 225w in total. It's hard to say for sure (unfortunately). You could always try it and undervolt the GPU slightly if you start having crashes.

Mac user here. I started my Geforce Now paid subscription at the Cyberpunk launch because this game was unplayable on my PS4. I changed my subscription to Founders and have been paying for it since. My Geforce Now pros: 1. Four quid (yes, 4GBP) per month for RTX class gaming rig with the option to upgrade to 4080 any time I want or downgrade the rig or cancel my sub whenever I want 2. I can play huge AAA titles on my Mac so no need for a fully-fledged gaming PC. 3. Steam\Gamepass compatible so games stay in my library and no need to repurchase them should I decide to go back to Windows. 4. No need to install huge games on my computer, everything runs from the cloud. Three things NVIDIA could improve: 1. Mouse glitch in some games - yes seriously, four years in - it is still unresolved! 2. Multiple login screens just to get into the game - absolutely infuriating! 3. A lot of games, esp. from smaller publishers are missing. I don't know the tech requirements behind it, but the world of gaming no longer revolves around AAA titles. In short: yes, it's worth it if you play big, popular resource-heavy titles. If you like smaller publishers and/or indie games my advice would be to stay away.

When the last time I got my win10 installed, BIOS was in CSM, but the partition of the SSD was GPT, still is. If inside my BIOS, I switch to USFI mode, can I boot? I know I can give it a try and find out but the cmos battery is behind the GPU and so I thought I ask you instead😅

Hey. Thanks 😊 Unfortunately I don't have a Discord currently no, but I've been thinking of something like that. In terms of your question, in theory UEFI would boot into a GPT partition with no issue - UEFI should have more modern support here. But it can depend on exact how the partition got created (it should be fine with Windows, but some third party partition software might cause problems). i hate the split cables, why make it more complicated for obsolete old hardware.

I agree, it's frustrating - it would be nice if the PSU cables were all a bit more modern so it didn't confuse everyone. 😞

My PSu only has only 2 PCI cables 😢

2 including for the CPU? If so, you might just have to stick to 225W or below GPUs - or explore undervolting a higher range card so it uses less power. But if you have 2 PCIe slots just for your GPU, that should be enough to power nearly all GPUs in the market to be honest. 🙂

It depends on the GPU - it depends on the TDP (power requirements) of the card in the video, but in general using 1 cable for a mid range GPU wouldn't fry it 🙂

Appreciate the video, pretty clean info 👌 Now, as future 4080 Super owner (or maybe a 4090 one, not that sure, my setup is designed to be 4080-90 compatible without having to redo everything), and as an actual 1070 owner, I have A LOT of questions regarding to the power connectors (understandable, I'm from Argentina, this upgrade equals more than 1 year of full salary alone, one step in the wrong direction and boom, an entire wasted year). Will an ATX 3.1 PSU "magically solve everything" thanks to its new standard featuring a slightly safer approach? Apparently the main reason behind everything getting melted down is either due to blending things too much (which sometimes is almost impossible due to for example the size of the case relative to the GPU, your case might not be that big for a 4090, who knows) or due to a low power PSU (basically some 750W thing for a 4090, don't even know if that's possible, but think it's risky). I get one can simply go for a 3.0 ATX and make sure you're not blending things too much (I guess?) and making sure you're really connecting the cable to the gpu (the zero gap issue). So, is a 3.1 PSU a justified purchase compared to a 3.0 ATX? With a 3.0/3.1, would one still make use of the famous "adapter" 4090 and I think 80 too have? Do you also need to separately buy better cables in order to be more safe, or can one simply use the ones coming with the card? Thanks again in advance pal!

Thanks pal, glad you liked it 🙂 That sounds like an awesome upgrade - congrats to you for saving up for it and taking a nice, well-researched approach to it. I hope all is going okay in Argentina. Those questions definitely make sense. I would personally go with an ATX 3.1 PSU and use the included 12v-2x6 cable - this would be better than looking at a separate adaptor cable IMO, and probably safer than using the one with the card too. However after buying the ATX 3.1 PSU, you could always email the PSU or GPU maker... or post in a subreddit like /r/nvidia.. and just get everyone's views on it (to be 100% safe). Better safe than sorry as you say.

@@TechOverwrite Thanks for answering so quickly pal 👍I'll wait some months before making any move (Argentina is one of those countries where things drastically change due to random events from month to month, prices can literally go up or down 50% in a week). Regarding the ATX 3.1, it's difficult to find one (even harder for a "good" one) without buying it abroad, which is not an option given the double price and lack of support (again, Argentina ._.' ), but maybe the next months some new models will be available, my only concern now is that apparently not every RTX model seems to support it at all? I've read somewhere that newer 40XX models do support it, but older ones don't. Apparently this is also not advertised due to costs in terms of packaging (aka "too expensive to change the package, meh"). The PSU I was considering to buy so far was the Corsair RM1000E (didn't find a 700-900W model here sadly). Will look for more videos on the subject, as said before, you explain things in a pretty clean way, and it's pretty informative too, noticed you have many videos covering AMD CPUs, I'm also interested on that 🤔 (specially since I wanted an i7 14700 build, yet noticed lots of red flags around the 13-14 gen of intel due to way too high temps, will check if you already covered all this drama around intel CPUs)

@@NikoBellicXDS ahh that makes sense, sorry things are still in flux in Argentina 😞 Yes if you can't find an ATX 3.1 one, then it wouldn't be a major deal-breaker, but hopefully more so come out in the coming months yes. It's a pity with Intel. I would ideally like to use them because they have QuickSync which is great for video editing, but right now I'm avoiding them too. Hopefully they can improve soon and we can have more competition - especially about the Zen 5 launch was less than expected.

So much misinformation in this video. Not maliscious. Just naive. The recommendation of using two separate cables still holds for many upper end cards, but rtfm of your card. It sould specify what is required.

Thanks for the comment, definitely never my intention to state anything inaccurate. A fair number of mid range cards need 2 separate cables too, and a surprising number of manuals also seem to blindly say "connect 2 cables" just to cover themselves.
