Beautiful work. I’ve just picked up one of those Linea VZ Napoli ovens myself and yours are the only photos I can find of it being assembled (bar the awful black and white photographs in the manual). Mine didn’t come with those steel staples either… I’ll have to either skip them or fabricate some. Regardless, your vid is most helpful, thanks. Your masonry is very impressive - your original trade?

@@geordiem8496 Thanks, that is the only pizza oven that I actually bought, all the others were cast in my own mold but it was out of commission at the time of this build so I had to buy one. The oven was OK quality, it did not go together perfectly and it did crack in quite a few places, although nothing too bad or structurally worrying. The base has worn though, it has become quite powdery and always needs dusting off before use. My own cast ovens have faired much better, some are 15 years old and still not showing any cracks (probably not used much) unfortunately my mold has long gone and I dont build pizza ovens anymore. I did train as a boat builder but I have mainly worked on hard landscape projects most of my working life. I have not been back to see how that particular oven is holding up for some time but as I have not heard back from my customer I guess it is still running fine . I did not like the two piece base and would much prefer to use standard fire brick.

Would priming (warming) the flu help in this type of situation? 🤔 I've seen some old Russian systems that have a tiny burn box in the chimney, just to get the flow going and drag the hot air through until it can manage on its own.

The tube inside is caller ‘ riser’ it is very important to keep the temperature high so all the smoke and wood gasses are burnt. If you did not insulate the riser, there would be smoke coming out of the chimney.

You should experiment with wood that isn’t dry and not particularly nice for wood stoves like green Douglas fir or wet pine and see if the gasification works regardless of the dryness or conditions of the fuel. A good rocket stove with a bed of coals should be able to gasify wood as produce no smoke.

I think the additional air needs to be routed in a way that it’s preheated.
@foxfish7115
@foxfish7115 3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment , the secondary air in this format is massively pre heated as it travels through the space above the fire box. The temperature inside the fire box runs around 500-550c, the ceramic glass that make the top of the fire box allows most of that heat into the secondary air gap so the air is very hot but you have to be aware of just how much pre heated air expands so the gap has to become bigger and bigger the hotter the air becomes. So in this case I think the secondary air will be around 3-350c when it enters the vortex chamber.

Je trouve l'idée d'un étage intermédiaire (entré d'air secondaire) particulièrement intéressante. Elle laisse supposer (à vérifier) la possibilité de réguler la combustion du vortex sur toute la durée d'un tir... A voir.
@andrebrocard
@andrebrocard 4 ай бұрын
A suivre!

First video talking about the plastic fibres. Made me think what if you used broken up styrofoam instead. They make small little balls.
@foxfish7115
@foxfish7115 5 ай бұрын
Well I have heard of people using salt and polystyrene (styrofoam) but nylon fibers are the tried and tested method. You can buy ‘counter top’ reinforcing fibers from many stores, they are extremely thin and wont effect the overall strength of the finished product. I think the little poly balls would be far too big for our purpose.

@@foxfish7115 well at first i thought using hair due to another video of someone trying to make clay, then thought about the styrofoam. @foxfish7115 5 ай бұрын
@@rashadabdullah9769 yes you could try nylon rope although try to find really thin stands as possible, human head hair would be closer to counter top fiber thickness. I think a lot depends on the project and its use but we are looking at around 1% added to the mix. Make sure the fibers are evenly distributed in the dry mix before you add any water, it can be very frustrating and time consuming to get them spread out evenly but worth the effort. Good luck and please let me know how it goes …..

@@rashadabdullah9769 you will need to isolate the fire box from the earth otherwise as you say it will become a heat sink and not allow the fire box to become hot enough to burn the smoke! Anywhere, where there is a flame, must be very well insulated. After the flame you can steal the heat but leave enough to power the chimney. Keep me informed when you start planing…..

Thank you for your comment. My rocket stove videos are largely about experimenting with different formats. That particular design with the off center riser and horizontal oven, has run for several years very successfully heating a large uninsulated space and supplying food for my friends. Personally I would call that a success ? However if you look at my latest rocket stove videos you can see the stove running without the oven, it shows no noticeable diffidence apart from not being able to cook fantastic food! The vortex J tube design works best (so far) with a short tunnel so with a 6” system the riser sits off center. Please look at my many other design rocket stove videos and thank you again for watching.
