We tried this & all of the bags leaked. We got 'Strong Flex' bags & zip ties, all of the bags also leaked. We left the bags the way they were & we are just going to stuff them in the U-Haul around other items. We are moving from Oklahoma to Florida...We did save some money b/c Wal-Mart gave us our money back for their Magic Bag items that we purchased (we did not even open those boxes).

Hold onto vehicle and home titles. Do not ship with your belongings.

moving is a stressful situation at the best of times but for me, packing books is one of the most stressful parts. a friend said to me "just put them in a suitcase", now that is all well and good but if you're like me and in effect have more of a mini library at home, then suitcases just wont do it because the moving lorry will be full of suit cases

1. Create List of inventory (difficult to remember all items) 2. Consider transparent bins than card box 3. Store items vertical 4. Store large heavy items on the bottom 5. Items you need frequently at the front easy reach 6. Label every box clearly at face (cleaning before store inside)

If you have open household containers of say, laundry detergent or cleansing products, use masking tape in an X form on the cap and or the top of the item. That keeps the lid from coming undone, and keeps the product in the bottle and not all over the box. I also use towels for my collectible knickknacks, which are very breakable. I’ve lost at least one item in every move and I have moved probably close to 10 times in the last 20 years. I always start packing the kitchen and the bathroom items that I have for just in case. And then they stay close to that room so I can access it if they need arises. I write in sharpies on the top and the side of each box for the room. They are going to go into. That way the packer of the truck knows to put all the kitchen stuff together the bathroom stuff together the bedroom stuff together. Biggest tip… Pack the bed last. If the bed is the first thing to come out of the truck at the new location. It goes right to the bedroom and gets put up immediately, that way if everything else stays in boxes for the rest of the day into tomorrow, you still have a place to sleep. I have a lot of crafting items with large boxes of yarn, which is not heavy but it’s cumbersome. The heavy part is the pattern books and there are 2 shelving units full of them. They go in smaller boxes because they’re easier to carry that way.

One of my first jobs was high volume shipping and receiving. Don't waste shipping tape (wastes time). Don't put it like belts over the flaps. You only need a letter H over the seams. Use 3" tape, not 2". For extra heavy bottoms WIDEN the thickness of the H with more tape. I don't use the big tape holders with the grip. Just hold the roll in your hand, snap off the edge with your teeth and slightly WRINKLE the end on the roll. With practice it gets faster...

I used to do this years ago while in College. Is it still a good thing to let the fridge stand for 15-20 minutes before plugging it in , if you move it laying down in the truck ?

Instead to color each box and spend the time coloring, why not to use different colors closing tape.
